973 (Part 1/10) 200th Birth Year of Karl Marx, commencing from today. Some studious musings

200th Birth Year of Karl Marx, philosopher and the propounder of the Theory of Marxism / Communism is on the offing now. We are already going through the Centenary of the October 1917 Revolution (Bolshevik Revolution in Russia). One happy thing about Mr. Vladimir Putin is that, he does not make pretentions of being a fan or a follower of Karl Marx, just as Indian Politicians who make pretentions of being Great Disciples of Babasaheb Ambedkar, whose 125th Birth Anniversary has recently been celebrated with great gaiety. Of course, right now, the People Russia itself, do not appear to have much interest in Marx or Lenin.

Maoist Terrorist Groups in India

There are Terrorist Groups in India who swear on Marx and Mao, but who do not believe in either Marx or Mao. As labels are necessary to impress people, Maoists use the Communist Flags, literature, and names. For that matter, even Mao himself did not believe in Karl Marx. All those things are important for the World Today , though there is not a single country which is sincerely committed to Communism / Marxism / True Complete Socialism, because though modern gadgets, tools, equipment-s are ubiquitous everywhere, Working Class people are still suffering drudgeries and slaveries. We can find the severest drudgeries and slaveries, in densely populated lands like China, India, Indonesia, Bangla Desh, Pakisthan, Brazil, Mexico etc. United States, Canada, ANZ, and Europe want to build walls to prevent influx of immigrants from densely populated lands. The (said to be) dream of Karl Marx, envisaging the Unity of the World's Working Class cannot materialise as long as the Working Classes of the Developed World are not willing to treat their brothren from the Underdeveloped World and the Developing World. Besides the 'White' Working Class is not willing to accept 'Black' Working Class as their brethren, though this remark may appear to be Racialist, but Facts and Truths tend to hurt and remain unpalatable.

The aficionados and connoisseurs of English Literature, might have come across harsh reality about many Medieval-Elizabethan and Victorian English Poets and writers, being addicts of alcoholism and narcotic drugs, with probable exception of Masters like John Milton and Samuel Johnson. Examples of poets who died in drunken brawls: Christopher Marlowe, killed on 30th May 1593 (disputable?). English poets and writers, whether they ultimately die in drunken brawls or not, their being present at drunken brawls or suffering from some ailment caused by alcoholism and addiction to narcotis, seems to be common.

Now, let us see the link 1 above. By going to the link, Readers can see that the encounter described in the narration by Wilhelm Liebknecht in his Karl Marx: Biographical Memoirs, sketches "a smashing drunken evening in London Town written after some 40 years of the Event. A quote from this illustrates:

"...One evening, Edgar Bauer, acquainted with Marx from their Berlin time and then not yet his personal enemy […], had come to town from his hermitage in Highgate for the purpose of “making a beer trip.” The problem was to “take something” in every saloon between Oxford Street and Hampstead Road – making the something a very difficult task, even by confining yourself to a minimum, considering the enormous number of saloons in that part of the city. But we went to work undaunted and managed to reach the end of Tottenham Court Road without accident. ..."

It is not my (yb-donkey) intention to say that Messrs. Karl Marx, Edgar Bauer, Wilhelm Liebknecht ought to have behaved like good boys, or like the South Indian Brahmins or Jain Monks who are devoted to the virtues of total abstinence.

Once, one of my readers at my Vivekananda blog Vivekanandayb.blogspot.com, questioned: "Was Swami Vivekananda not entitled to his own need of 'fun'?" Then I had to reply to my critics, pointing out the wide difference between PREACHING PHILOSOPHERS and the ordinary citizens. Fun is for ordinary citizens. Preaching philosophers are venerated and hero-worshiped. They are treated as "above-mortals", super-human beings. Hence, there are GREAT EXPECTATIONS from them.

Late Karl Marx may also be right in declaring himself as 'Rebel with a cause'. I can only say, "Okay, let them have their own quotas of fun!".

What I am more interested is in what the Maoists in India are indulging in, in the name of Maoism. The points raised by Shri Vuppala Narasimham in Andhra Jyothy Newspaper dated 5.5.2017 (link given above), are worth analysing threadbare. This aspect, we shall take up in our forthcoming blogposts. In the meantime, my Readers will probably agree: Three things are definite.

The first is, Maoists cannot bring true total socialism. They only contribute to anarchy and terrorism.

The second is: The bourgeoisie State and bourgeoisie Leaders are too inert and too disinclined to find out lasting solutions for the sufferings of tribals, small and marginal farmers, agricultural laborers, unorganised sector workers, tiny cottage artisans, and cart and foot-path vendors, shop clerks etc. etc .

The third is : We have to find fast and lasting solutions for the problems of INEQUALITIES OF INCOME AND WEALTH, AND THE DRUDGERIES AND SLAVERIES of millions, without deviating from democracy, and without resorting to oppressions and repressions.

945 Should Incredible India be built on the foundation of booze? If we study this Times of India Article, it appears so!

Here is a link to an article in the TimesOfIndia Editorial Page, titled " 'Incredible India' hollowed out by court-ordered alcohol ban, just when India's dining scene was turning world class", author Mr. AmlinAli@Timesgroup.Com. Published today, 6th Apr. 2017. I respect the Right of Freedom and Speech of Shri Amlin Ali, and the Times Group to air their views freely, frankly. Then, they have to permit me, to exercise my freedom of expression, and criticise it, within my limits and limitations. The Article gives an impression that India can attain a World Class Dining Scene only with booze. It also gives an impression that Incredible India has been hollowed out by the recent Supreme Court Judgement barring Liquor Shops and Bars on Highways and within 500 meters of Highways. The Supreme Court of India Judgement might have had an object of preventing accidents caused by drunken driving. This blogger ybrao-a-donkey personally believes that Supreme Court of India ought to have advised the State and Central Governments to design and implement Plans for Introduction of Prohibition on an intensive and extensive scale.

We shall start with some quotes from the Times of India Article, which are worth examining:--

A five star hotel was fully booked to host the top performers of a leading bank from across the globe. Their hosts’ plan was to showcase India as a premium luxury travel destination that boasted world class premises. A part of their stay involved a gala dinner where these executives could sample the finest selection of wines and enjoy a tour to a bustling food hub nearby.	Which is this Bank? Definitely, it must have been a Private Sector Bank. Even if it be a Public Sector Bank (PSB), it does not appear to be doing the right thing. What Banking has to do with boozing (Euphemism: Sample the finest selection of wines). Will India become a luxury travel destination only by offering booze? Doesn't India have anything else to offer to attract tourists? What is all this stuff "that boasted world class premises"? Did the TOI article writer borrowed this phrase from Mr. Nara Chandra Babu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
The Indian hosts are wondering how to tell their foreign guests at the last moment that they have been ‘banned’ from serving alcohol. The hotel manager explains the word ban freaks out a lot of travellers and causes irreparable damage to an establishment’s reputation.	There is no bar on serving alcohol. Only thing is, it should be served at a place which is located 500 meters away from the Highway. Anyway, our Hotels, Bars, Wine Shops have the necessary INFLUENCE and CASH to bribe the officials for conveniently circumventing the 500 mts. distance. They can find loopholes in Govt. Orders, in such a way that every hotel/bar/wineshop is shown as have been relocated to places beyond 500 meters. What type of travellers are these, who cannot perform their journeys/tours without booze for a fortnight? Actually, they should be happy that they are getting an opportunity to stay away from booze at least during their tour, which pleasure/addiction/habit was haunting them since their adolescence, robbing their hard-earned monies, health, peace of mind, and above all their time to spend with their wife and children?
National Crime Records Bureau data of 2015 on road accidents shows that out of a total 4,64,674 road accidents that year, 7,061 or 1.5% were due to driving under influence (DUI) of drugs or alcohol. Dangerous or careless driving, overtaking etc was the reason for 31.4% of road accidents whereas speeding caused 43.7% accidents. This suggests that strict enforcement of existing traffic and road safety rules will curb accidents far better than closing down bars and restaurants.	Whoever has compiled these statistics, they do not appear to have done their homework properly. Careless driving, overtaking etc. numerous traits of dangerous driving also result when a drunken-driver loses control over himself.
Secondly, the judgment clubs liquor vends with bars and restaurants within and outside the hotel. A restaurant is a highly regulated space set up after going through various inspections and licensing. It is one legally permitted place where one can enjoy a drink responsibly with friends and family. Each of these spaces was established after a hefty licence fee and paid heavy taxes on every pint or peg sold.	Heavy incidence of taxes, licence fees does not justify the evil of alcoholism. The author of the article seems to be deliberately under-rating the evils of alcoholism. What are all these inspections carried out by Govt. Officials? What is this regulated space? They are all figments of imagination.
It is important to understand that most of the places paid a premium to set up shop in areas designated for hotels or food outlets by city planners. When many of these places came up, the roads may not have been national or state highways and may have just been city roads. As cities grew, many roads developed into arterial highways.	Bars and wine shops seem to pay high rents and premia to set up their businesses, because their business is very lucrative, as they thrive earning super profits, exploiting the weaknesses of innocent / feeble /addicted people.
A consideration in buying residential property nowadays is recreation options nearby. To suddenly be told that the bar across our residential society cannot serve liquor as the road has become a highway amounts to forcing a resident to drive further for his drink.	As far as my understanding goes, howsoever foolish it may be, residents of localities do not want bars / wine-shops in their area, as liquor shops and bars create serious law and order problems.
Bars, restaurants and hotels are a reflection of our evolution. They are signs of a booming economy and a cosmopolitan society. Any popular tourist destination boasts of a vibrant food and nightlife and strong law enforcement that gives a sense to security. India had a happening food scene, what was merely needed was to provide stronger security that implemented rules strictly.	What type of Evolution is this? Every alternate home in India today, we can find at least on drunkard who beats his mother/wife for money to buy liquor. Children with alcoholic fathers tend to be the worst sufferers in our society. Actually, Mahatma Gandhi dreamed of a State where there will be no need of any Government, and where there will be no need of Police. Every Citizen should naturally have a sense of security, without the presence of any Law Enforcement Agencies, strong or weak.
To suddenly order that our favourite places to unwind after a taxing working schedule are no longer permitted to serve us our hard earned drink is depriving us of simple joys of life. A vend will still pick up its makeshift structure and hop 500 metres away from its present location to sell liquor. But a bar that came up after huge investment and employed security guards, trained waiters and talented bartenders will simply have to shut shop, rendering them jobless and consumers without a safe drinking spot.	Loss of jobs and, unemployment cannot be an excuse for allowing Bars/Wineshops/Governments to rob people. If they want to rob citizens, better way will be to do it directly, at gun-point.
For me it is taking away the essence of my ‘Incredible India’ where i can enjoy the finest of food and alcohol in my city. An India where i have the freedom to party but also awareness of my responsibility and rules.	Most alcoholics start their lives with AWARENESS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND RULES. But when the habit gets deep-rooted into their blood and veins, awareness of responsibilities and rules, will be replaced by helpless surrender to an irretrievable addiction.

785 Mindsets of bourgeoisie party leaders have to change, if they have to REALLY serve people

Leaders of almost all bourgeoisie parties, all over India, both at All India level, and State (Provincial/Regional) levels, have same or similar mindset. Whenever they undertake some welfare measures, they do them half-heartedly, because somebody else in some other State has done, or that they can garner some votes. Love for people should come naturally and spontaneously, just as a mother loves its baby or a cat loves its kitten. Mr. Nara Chandra Babu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on 25th June 2016, started at Velagapudi, a Canteen for poor people to serve tiffins, rice and chapaties (flat pan cakes) at low prices. So far so good. He is doing something which even left parties in Kerala, West Bengal and Tripura could not do during their rule. Welcome. We shall greatly appreciate. At the sametime, there is a tail piece in his conversation with the media, on the occasion.

1. I have no malice to Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu. Nor am I, a supporter of Mr. Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy who is said to be in London now, playing golf. He may also be taking care of his stashed moneys in British Tax Havens like Island of Man, British Virgin Islands. Or he might have purchased some prime property in Central London, somewhere beside Vijay Mallya's Home, to get ready for future.

2. In the above quote, though Mr. Naidu might have said it as a joke, it reflects and reveals the mindsets of our bourgeoisie leaders, of all parties, of all Regions, of all Castes, of all Religions. They nourish and relish a prejudice that : once food is available cheap or free, poor people will spend their money on liquor, and sleep at their homes without going for work . This blind view is not correct. Proof: Today, meals are being sold at very high @ Rs. 70 to Rs. 90 in almost all the towns / cities of Residual Andhra Pradesh. Days will not be far off, when average ordinary meals will cost Rs. 100/-. Still, people are paying big monies to Wine shops, Bars, Belt shops (unlicensed liquor shops)- buying liquor bottles and filling the coffers of not only the liquor merchants, but also STATE GOVERNMENTS. If they have money left after that, they will buy chicken and mutton biriyanis; else they will buy some mixture or some noodles or whatever their money gets. If they have no money left with them, they will go home, and beat their mothers, wives, and children. Then they will sleep hungry. Often family members also weep, and sleep hungry.

Of course, Mr. Naidu, on the spot, gave a free advice to a woman: "tAgostE annam peTToddammA". That woman, out of courtesy, did not give a repartee or retaliate. Even if she were to express her resentment, the Police and the TDP leaders present there, would have dragged her out, and the free advice would have continued. The concerned MRO / MPDO / Govt. Employees / TDP Leaders whoever have taken her to the CM's presence would have been taken to task later on. In a way, that woman has saved embarassment to herself , the Officials, and the TDP Leaders.

3. Won't he have his own relatives, his own landed caste people, his own landed class people of other castes (landlords and industrialists) who drink full bottles of liquor, and lie down in their homes? When a rich man does a thing, it is viewed as "fashion" and regarded "respectable". When a poor man does the same-thing, it becomes "lazy" and "dishonourable". Bourgeoisie masters do not mind to fill their own pot bellies with pegs of liquor and lie down at home, or drive cars and hit dividers. At the same time, they expect their laborers to be sober teetotalers, slogging 24 x 7 x 365. Who gave the masters this right? Definitely not, the non-existing God. It is the Capitalist Society which sets different sets of values for different classes.

Mr. Naidu has promised several times in the past, and also included in TDP manifestoes, that they will introduce prohibition in stages. He scrapped the prohibition introduced by Late NTR earlier. But nothing has come out during his previous nine years rule, or his two years current rule.

Mr. Naidu will have an excuse now: "They divided the State and sent us out of Hyderabad, with just clothes on our body. We have no money. etc. etc.". They are all excuses. Where there is a will, there will be a way.

Whether Mr. Naidu implements the NTR Canteen scheme wholeheartedly or not, people are not going to abandon their liquor bottles, unless the State Government forces them to do so.

Let us hope, that realisation and wisdom will dawn in Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu. Let him not compare himself with Jagan on everything or on anything.

778 Indian Constructions are not slums! Telugu women cannot stop giving food to their drunken husbands and sons!

Our constructions are no better than slums. We are aiming at constructing a world-class capital for which we need expertise in construction. There are no companies that have experience in this area. There may be firms such as L&T, Shapoorji Pallonji. You [media] only write reports that their quality of construction is not up to the mark.

Traffic Restrictions imposed by the Police on the occasion of Mr. Naidu's hosting an Iftar Party in Guntur, has greatly inconvenienced the People of Andhra Pradesh, the People of Guntur City. When will the hardships and travails of people end?

Well, our highly respected Chief Minister of Residual Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Nara Chandra Babu Naidu, has great opinions. Here is one such golden quote:

"...Our constructions are no better than slums. We are aiming at constructing a world-class capital for which we need expertise in construction. There are no companies that have experience in this area. There may be firms such as L&T, Shapoorji Pallonji. You [media] only write reports that their quality of construction is not up to the mark ..."

India is a country of proven technical capabilities. For example, ISRO, Sriharikota, has recently sent into space 20 satellites in one go. India has the record of building Konkan Railway, which is a technical marvel. The Waltair-Kirandul Railway Line also definitely matches with Projects executed by Foreign Companies all over the World. The Railway line from Jammu to Kashmir (substantial part completed) with numerous tunnels along and across insurmountable hills proves the technical prowess of India. Larsen & Toubro, and Shapoorji Pallonji too have good performance records, apart from many other Indian Companies such as HIndustan Construction Ltd., which has executed the Construction of Godavari Rail-Road Bridge. Similar, is the case with VidyaSagar Setu in Kolkata.

The construction-quality of work done by L&T and Shapoorji Pellonji, at Velagapudi for the Temporary Secretariat Buildings of Andhra Pradesh might have suffered somewhat marginally, owing to very short time given to them for executing their work, and the continuous pressure mounted by the Chief Minister and his Cabinet Colleauges to finish the work in an unrealistically short time. Besides, nature of designs and plans, the quality of the soil on which structures are raised, the impact of monsoons, the impact of summer heat, scarcity of water, quality of local cement, quality of local sand, quality-quantity-skills of the masonry workers, Rod-bending workers available in the State (They also, normally do good work, under trying and difficult conditions), etc. myriad factors will decide on the outcome. Anyway, I am not paid here by anybody, to defend the work done by L&T, and Shapoorji Pallonji. That can be left to the experts.

What is irritating then?

What is irritating then? Mr. Naidu has passed sweeping comments, as if Singapore Companies were paragons of virtue, and Indian Companies are daemons and devils. Indian Companies may have their own limitations and shortcomings, which are not irreparable or incorrigible. They can be guided by giving pacca specifications of the work, inspection of their work by honest Government Officials, etc. etc.

If Indian Constructions are like slums, those who are dissatisfied can always abandon India to the dirty Indians like us, and go to London or Singapore and live. Haven't Vijay Mallya, some Tatas, some Jindals, some Mittals and numerous others, gone and settled abroad?

At present , our bureaucrats and politicians are going on foreign jaunts quite often on some pretext or other. Mr. Rahul Gandhi is on a vacation abroad. Mr. Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy is on a vacation in London. Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu has went on a vacation to Switzerland in May 2016.

On every visit, bureaucrats, business persons and politicians, can make some advance arrangements for future settlement abroad, by purchasing properties, making some investments, meeting neighbours and important persons in the places where they intend to settle, etc. etc.

I only pray our bureaucrats, business persons, and politicians, not to make generalised comments about "our constructions being slums" and some "Singapore fellow is an Angel" etc. etc.

Let us realise that WE ARE WE (WE INDIANS ARE INDIANS), and THEY ARE THEY (FOREIGNERS ARE FOREIGNERS). They may have some merits, which they might have derived by adopting numerous techniques such as creating tax havens, permitting smuggling activities etc., etc., subtly. So what? Should we also stoop down?

After the bifurcation of United Andhra Pradesh, the Residual Andhra Pradesh has only 13 Districts, a reduced area. Automatically, there will be smaller revenues.

In proportion to the reduction in our revenues, budgets, we should reduce the GRANDEURs and OSTENTATIONS of our Governors, Chief Ministers, Ministers, Speakers of Legislatures, Secretaries, Collectors etc. etc. But, that is not happening.

The hardships of Police Staff in Residual Andhra Pradesh might have worsened. Long working hours. On paper, they may be getting their weekly offs and compensatory holidays. In reality, they may not be getting. Even IAS and IPS Officers may be suffering owing to excessive prodding from Hyderabad and Amaravati.

The number of vehicles, SPs-ASPs-DSPs-CIs-SIs-ASIs-Constables allocated for M.L.A.s, M.P.s, Ministers, Speaker, CM, etc. etc. seem to be outstripping the number of personnel engaged in Criminal Investigations, Prevention of ghastly Crimes, etc.

An Expert Committee may have to be appointed to examine about the security fears and perceptions of our bureaucrats, and People's Representatives. We should recognise that life of a constable or an engineer or a VRO at grassroot-field level is as much valuable as the life of CM / Speaker / Minister / MLA / MP. Most of the Grass-Root Government Staff are working in fields without any protection. Then, why unduly disproportionately large protection only for VIPs?

Is it because many of our bureaucrats / business persons and industrialists / politicians are indulging in some criminal and nefarious activities surreptitiously? Are some other criminals chasing them, hounding them, threatening them? Why our VIPs are feeling so much insecure?

The threat of Maoists may be given as one reason, by our rulers.

ANOTHER POSSIBLE REASON

98% of people of Residual Andhra Pradesh (and Telangana State) are Non-vegetarians, according to news reports. Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are also very large consumers of liquors, It is a common scene in many homes, that drunken husbands beat and kill wives, drunken sons murder parents, wives and paramours kill husbands, husbands and wives kill paramours etc.

Because of excess consumption of "tAmasika AhAram and rAjasika AhAram" (food which promotes sloth, anger) and "tAmasika vihAram and rAjasika vihAram" (movement of persons in an environment of sloth, anger, lust), people may be becoming violent unpredictably, as they do not have control over their bodies, senses, and minds. In such an event, when they see a criminal bureaucrat / business person / industrialist / politicians / people's representatives, a few people in the crowds may be pouncing on the venomous vituperative thugs.

This may be the reason for the insecurity-perception of our TOPPERS! Hence, they will be asking for more and more security! More and more new bullet-proof vehicles! More and more bullet proof vests! Plain clothed persons behind, on sides, and in front.

Highly venerable Shri Chandra Babu Naidu is very liberal in giving free advice:

Don't drink. PLant saplings !

But my Government will give targets to the Excise Officials to sell more and more liquor, and chase them for performance.

Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu may not know ground realities, or he may not be much interested in ground realities.

What is the ground reality? Either out of love/affection or out of physical fear of being beaten in the presence of neighbors (neighbors may not intervene), suffering wives and mothers rarely retaliate against their drunken husbands and sons. Where is the question of refusing meals for a drunken family member?

It is common in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Wives and Mothers take several years suffering in a helpless condition, the violence from husbands and sons. When the situation culminates, they will, in a no alternative scenario, kill the sleeping husbands and sons with pestles used for making chutneys or with katti pITalu (knives fitted to wooden bases for cutting vegetables, meat and fish). Of course, police will then come to arrest the wives and mothers.

Mr. Akar Patel has sufficiently covered the "anti" side of the enforcement of Prohibition.

In my post No. 717, I wrote that Mr. Akar Patel has to do some "para griha pravEsh (literal meaning: enter the houses of others) to realise the intensity of the sufferings of Indian Housewives and mothers, at the hands of their husbands and sons who demand for money to buy liquor, and do not hesitate to kill them, if money is refused, or money could not be produced. Hence, failures or no failures, all the State Governments in India, and the Central Government should make sincere efforts on a war footing to overcome the daemon of Alcoholism.

I have also already mentioned that "Prohibition is not a Brahminic demand". 90% of suffering mothers and wives are not Brahmins ! Though of late, alcoholism is increasing in Brahmins, yet, whatever be the reasons, alcoholism is still RELATIVELY less in Brahmins, particularly the Brahmins of the South India. If prohibition is sabotaged or not enforced strictly, Brahmins will also lose, but they lose less, whereas the sufferings of mothers and housewives of all castes, particularly non-Brahmin castes, do not get ameliorated.

One unfortunate development which I have been noticing of late is, alcoholism has become rampant among professionals such as doctors, lawyers, IAS-IPS Officers, etc., and the so-called intellectuals such as Judges-both of higher and lower judiciary, Professors, College and High School teachers. They are, in fact, supposed to guide the Indian Society. In Telugu language, there is a proverb: "kance yE cEnu mEsina" English "If fence itself feeds on the crop", who will protect the crop?

Mr. Nitish Kumar, does not seem to have done sufficient home work.

Declaring that "Prohibition is introduced in the entire Bihar" and seizing all the liquor bottles in shops in a frenzy, will not serve the cause of Prohibition. A lot of groundwork is to be done.

Example: Prohibition results in loss of employment to workers of distillaries, wineshops and bars. Suddenly all those working at these places will be on the road. Of course, Bihar Government will not have resources to pay compensation or monthly subsistence to these people. Bihar is a cane and sugar producing State. That means we have to show market to the raw spirits and ferments produced in Bihar, for sale outside its boundaries.

One solution:Since, many other States in India, have not yet introduced prohibition, Bihar Govt. can probably permit the distillaries to to produce liquors, with "forward integration", to produce bottled, packed end products, and export to neighboring States, some of which may be experiencing liquor shortages. Though this may sound "unethical" (discouraging local people consuming alcohol, and encourage unfortunate residents of other States to drink more). But, even if the Bihar Government and the distillaries in Bihar desist themselves from doing it, foreign liquor Companies will vigorously market their beers, whiskies, wines, vodkas, ales, runs, gins in the Rest of India.

In other words, till total prohibition is introduced all over India, including ban on import of liquors, Bihar will be justified in exporting liquors made in Bihar to other States.

Bihar Distillaries and wine traders can also be permitted to export liquors to Europe, North and South Americas, South East Asia, above all China with whom we have an adverse Balance of Trade.

In my humble view, future of Bihar will depend on developing their export capabilities, products, and skills, - both to Rest of India, and to International Markets.

Nothing can really be achieved, just by passing some laws, which are loosely enforced.

This is a sad day for me. Belated of course, today (7th Jan. 2016) I have come to know that Mr. Ian Murdock, a doyen of OpenSource Computer Software, co-founder of DEBIAN flavor of LINUX Operating Systems, died on 31st Dec. 2015 (approx.), in the hands of San Francisco Police. I am unable to recollect having seen any news reports published by Indian Newspapers English or Telugu from 31st Dec. 2015 to 7th Jan. 2016. If Deepika Padukone acts in a Hollywood Movie, it becomes a great breaking news for our Newspapers and TV Channels. But if a Great Freedom Fighter in the World of Computers passes away, Indian News Papers and Channels SEEM TO IGNORE, as if some dog or rat died. chI ! chI ! I may be wrong or blind. I have checked in newspapers like Deccan Chronicle, The Hindu, Times of India, and Telugu Papers like Eenadu, Andhra Jyothy, Sakshi.

The greatness of Ian Murdock, I cannot describe in one blog post. Of course, Mr. Murdock might have had some negative qualities not known to the outside world. But, yet, his contribution to the World of Computers, will entitle him to get at least a little condonation for lighter lapses like drunkenness, some civil mis-behaviors when inebriated. Definitely such negativities do not make him fit for police brutalities.

I may need at least 10 blog posts to write about his worth and contribution. I hope to do it after doing sufficient research.

Indians do not realise that Linux stands for FREEDOM in the INTERNET skies. Linux flavored Operating Systems, have by and large succeeded in breaking the monopoly of Bill Gates and Microsoft on the Computer World and the Internet. Poor countries like India should have been grateful for this great favour by Linus Torvalds (Founder of Linux) and his associates who are fighters for Free and OpenSource Software. We must recognise but for their presence, Mr. Bill Gates of Microsoft, and numerous others working on Windows, might have extorted billions of Dollars from Government of India, State Governments in India, Indian Corporates, Common People in India (Not that, they are not extracting now. They are relatively on a controlled scale because of the fear of Linux).

No wonder, Indian newspapers and TV Channels are blind to Linux.

Back to Late Ian Murdock: I use Ubuntu Operating System based on Linux. But Ubuntu is just a fork of Debian (i.e. OS obtained from Debian is modified by Ubuntu, under the OpenSource System, made more user-friendly). Debian OS is also excellent, but it is less-user-friendly in the sense that it is more scientific when compared to Ubuntu. Debian OS is also available free on internet. But somewhat larger in size, when compared to Ubuntu.

There are numerous linux distros on internet which are forks of Debian and Ubuntu. Murdock's another contribution to the Computer World is "deb" system of packing and distributing software through repositories. Debian Organisation itself is run with contributions and participation from software volunteers, and of course donations from users and people.

Whenever I go to Linux Repositories / websites such as SourceFourge to download some software FREE without donating anything, occasionally I feel ashamed for my inability to either donate monetarily or through participating in building software, except greatly appreciating them within myself, for their generosity.

I personally do not believe that souls exist. Hence, I am unable to say that "May the soul of Late Ian Murdock rest in peace".

Question: What will you say about the brutality of San Francisco police, which led to the mysterious death of Ian Murdock?

Ans: First of all, I wish to make certain things clear.

1. American Police and European Police are role models to Indian Police at least in the arena of brutality. But, Indian Police beat the American and European Police in one respect: Indian Police show their brutality only against poor people. They handle millionnaires and billionnaires with velvet gloves, provided the millies and the billies throw big bucks throughout the path. In case of Murdock, he was a millionnaire, if not a billionnaire. It is not clear, why the San Francisco Police were so brutal to him. Did they expect him to throw greenbacks? Didn't he throw?

2. Drunkenness is common in U.S. Whites and Blacks misbehaving while drunken, is also common. But, the American Police are notorious for ignoring the inebriated Whites, and showing their valor only on the Blacks and the Colored. Why did they show so much brutality against Ian Murdock, in spite of his being a White, and a milli-billi.

3. Of course, both the Democratic and Republican hopefuls for the American Presidency may ignore the brutality which was dished out to Ian Murdock, by the San Francisco Police.

4. The excuses given by the San Francisco Police for the possible death of Late Ian Murdock-- "he was drunk at the time of his arrest, and was injured when he banged his head accidentally", "...police received reports of a man trying to break into a house...." , "...injury happened when Murdock banged his head whilst struggling with officers in the back of a police car. ..." , "...hauled out of the car "to keep him from harming himself... " , "...banging on a neighbour's door, before being locked in jail...", -- are similar to the stories which Indian Police concoct when people die in Police Station Locksup, or when they shot criminals while being taken to courts for trials.

5. In his Tweets, Late Murdock was reported to have posted that Police have told him: "we're the police and we always win.". I do not know whether there are any Mutual-Exchange Training Programs between the Indian Police Officers and the American Police Officers. These words strikingly sound Indian. Anyway, we learnt all our methods during the last three Centuries only from our White Masters.

6. What do these tweets say:

"The female officer ripped off my underwear,"

"I guess that's not considered rape if you're not a woman being raped."

.

These two tweets indicate that something serious took place when Murdock was in Police Custody.

7. I (ybrao-a-donkey) do not wish to say that entire guilt should rest with the San Francisco Police, but there may be STRONG reasons to believe that their hands are not TOTALLY CLEAN.

We have to wait till the hidden truths emerge out.

In the meantime, somebody has to pray the Non-Existent God, for my early recovery from this catastrophe.

ఆంగ్ల నైపుణ్యాలను పెంచుకోవాలనుకునే వాళ్ళు ముందుగా తెలుగులో ఆలోచించి దాన్ని ఆంగ్లంలోకి మనసులోనే మార్చుకుని మాట్లాడే అలవాటు ఉంటే దానిని వదులుకోటం మంచిదని నా వ్యక్తిగత నమ్మకం. మనం ఏభాషలో మాట్లాడ దలుచుకుంటే ఆభాషలోనే మూలంగా ఆలోచించటానికి తగిన పదజాలాన్ని, సమాస జాలాన్నీ (phrases), అర్ధవాక్యజాలాన్నీ (clauses) సెట్లు సెట్లుగా మనసులోనే పోగుచేసుకుని సమయానుగుణంగా వాడుకోటం మంచిది, అని నా ఇంకొక వ్యక్తిగత నమ్మకం.

తెలుగు వాళ్ళందరూ ఎప్పుడూ తెలుగులోనే మాట్లాడాలని ఒక ప్రచారాన్ని మనం చూస్తూ ఉంటాం. తమిళులు చేస్తున్నారు కదా, బెంగాలీలు చేస్తున్నారు కదా, మలయాళీలు లేకపోతే ఇంకొకళ్ళు చేస్తున్నారు కదా అనుకోటం న్యాయం కాదు. భాష ఎన్నికలో ప్రాధమిక లక్ష్యం అవతల వాడికి మన సందేశం స్పష్టంగా అర్ధంమై మనం కోరుకున్న పనిని వాడు చేయకలగాలి. అంటే, అవతలివాడికి ఏభాష బాగా తెలుసో, ఆ భాషనే మనం వాడాలి. లేదంటే మనం వాడిని మంచి నీళ్ళిమ్మంటే వాడు మద్యం తెచ్చి ఇస్తాడు.

ఇంగ్లీషు భాషలో నైపుణ్యాలు సాధించుకోవాలి అనుకునే వాడికి ఇంగ్లీషు భాషలో పఠనం, వ్రాయటం, మాట్లాడటం, వినటం తొక్కిడి, అభ్యాసం అవసరం. మనం ఎప్పుడూ తెలుగులో ఆలోచిస్తూ తెలుగులోనే అన్ని పనులూ చేసుకుంటూ ఉంటే, ఆంగ్లం వినియోగం అవసరమైన చోట సమయానికి మాటలు, సమాసాలు (phrases), అర్ధవాక్యాలు (clauses) స్ఫురించవు.

First-of-all, Dr. Subramnian Swamy appears to exceed limits of decency and dignity.

తెలుగు: మొట్టమొదటగా, శ్రీ సుబ్రమణియన్ స్వామి డీసెన్సీ మరియు డిగ్నిటీ యొక్క పరిథులు దాటినట్లుగా కనిపిస్తుంది.

I am not sure whether this lack of decency and dignity is a representative trait of alumni of Harvard University, which seem to admit students not only on merit but also on donations. Both Mr. Subramanian Swamy and Rahul Gandhi happen to be alumni of Harvard University.

Dr. Swamy can be seen from the above words, challenging aggrieved persons to approach court and sue him for libel. This courage might have probably stemmed from his conviction that he has evidence and facts before him, and that disclosing truth can be a good defence against libels.

Apart from disclosing facts and truths, a defamer can also have a defence of compulsion to disclose facts and truths for public good, or for protecting public interests . He should disclose only that much, which is necessary for these two needs. He should not disclose more.

There are alcoholics in all parties, including Dr. Swamy's Party, BJP. Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee is reputed as an aficionado of spirits. This aspect came to light, when Mr. Vajpayee was External Affairs Minister. Mr. P.N. Sangma, our former Lok Sabha Speaker is also believed to be a lover of spirits. Swamy Vivekananda, the role model of Shri Narendra Modiji and the idol of lakhs of Indians was also a winelover. (For proof, readers may refer to the conversation between Prof. Deussen and Swami Vivekananda when he was in Switzerland and Germany).

Can it place on its website the names and addresses of liquor traders who are members of BJP? I am sure that BJP can't and won't. Of course, other parties also can't do.

వారు త మ వెబ్ సైట్ పై, తమ పార్టీలో ఎంత మంది మద్యం వ్యాపారులు బిజెపి సభ్యులో, వారి పేర్లు, చిరునామాలు, పెట్టగలరా? వారు ఆపని చేయలేరు, చేయబోరు అని నాకు నిశ్చయం. ఇతర పార్టీల వారు కూడ చేయలేరనుకొండి.

Then why segregate Mrs. Priyanka Vadra and Mr. Vadra?

అలాంటప్పడు, కేవలం ప్రియాంకా వాద్రాను, శ్రీ వాద్రాను విడిగా చూడటం దేనికి?

Dr. Swamy's misadventure will do one good. Indians have a tendency to believe that celebrities and leaders are paragons of virtue and models of excellence.

తెలుగు సారం: డా|| స్వామి గారి సు(దుస్) సాహసం వల్ల ఒక మంచి కూడ జరుగుతుంది. భారతీయులకు ఒక అలవాటు-వైఖరి ఉంది. సెలబ్రిటీలు, నేతలు, స్వఛ్ఛమైన సద్గుణ మూర్తులు మరియు ఎక్సెలెన్స్ యొక్క నమూనాలు అని నమ్ముతారు.

Thousands of Indians have named their children as Jawahar, Indira, Rajiv, Sanjay, Sonia, Rahul, Priyanka. Hearing this news, if at least some Indians start treating leaders as ordinary human beings, with average instincts, habits, iq, intellect, etc., it will do great good to Indian democracy.

In other words, we have to humanify, humanise our demy Gods, down to earth. This does not mean that we should look them down upon. It is, rather, we stop looking at them in the sky with awe, as if they were descending from some other planet, to imbue us with divinity.

Whatever I am writing here, also apply to other castes of celebrities like film stars, cricketers, judges, journalists, professors, corporate executives and industrialists.

About gUnDE, badmAshE adjectives used by Dr. Swamy for describing protesters, he may please realise that BJP workers also seem to indulge in similar gUnDE, badmAshE methods, occasionally. Can Dr. Swamy counsel (or at least request) the top leaders of BJP to discourage this type of tendencies in BJP, even if assuming that they are fewer in number than in Congress?
