1119 Online clickable MCQs Test No.962600 in General Studies & my personal Study on Abhiras and Yadavas from comparison of Ramayana & Mahabharata

Reference: valmiki ramayana. Book 6, Book of Forests- sundara kAnDa. Chapter 22. From Verses 31 to 42. English Translations courtesy: valmikiramayan.net, yuddha kAnDa. Telugu language script verses and gist have been added by me.

Context: Shri Rama was on the banks of Ocean, exploring ways to cross it. After praying Sea-God sAgara for three days, Shri Rama threatened the Sea God to use force against him. Rama fixed a mighty arrow called 'brahmAstra (Weapon of Creator) to his bow and was about to direct it towards Sea God. Sea God appeared before him, and prayed for his mercy. The Sea God after advising Rama to build a bridge over the Ocean, Shri Rama asked him about what he had to do with his fixed arrow "Creator's Weapon (BrahmAstra)". Then, the Sea God is replying Rama.

The place where the arrow, whose splendor was akin to that of a thunder and a thunder bolt, was descended by Rama- that place is indeed famous as desert of Maru [Maru—Malwar in Rajastan (India)] on this earth.

That desert of Maru became famous in the three worlds. Rama (the son of Dasaratha), a wise man and a valiant man resembling a celestial, made that cavity dried up and gave a boon to that desert of Maru.

Due to granting of a boon by Rama, that desert of Maru became the most congenial place for cattle rearing, a place with a little of disease, producing tasty fruits and roots, with a lot of clarified butter, a lot of milk and various kinds of sweet- smelling herbs. Thus it became an auspicious and suitable move, bestowing these merits.

ybrrao~a-donkey~s personal views, not intended to be imposed on others:

1. If Shri Rama~s creator~s weapon (Brahmastra) is so powerful to convert an area into a desert and so as to destroy the Abhiras, how Abhiras are able to survive even till 2019?

2. Abhiras survived even during Lord Krishna~s age i.e. dvApara yugA. In Mahabharata, after Lord Krishna and Balarama passed away and all the Yadavas were destroyed owing to curse of Sage, Arjuna who was in Dwaraka packed all the remnant wealth of Yadavas, and remaining Yadava women who did not commit Sati, to Hastinapur. Arjuna and his entourage was waylaid by Abhiras, and Yadava women were robbed of their jewellery etc. Arjuna could not protect the Yadava women, as he could not recall his powerful astras (arrows + magic chants). Assuming that the distance between Dwaraka and Hastinapura is about 1500km., it is not known exactly at what point, Arjuna and his entourage were robbed by Abhiras, assuming that the distance between Dwaraka and Hastinapur is about 1500km.

Question: There is an impression that Abhiras (or Ahirs) and Yadavas are same. Can it be true?

Ans: According to my personal belief, if Abhirs and Yadavas belonged to same clan or caste, they would not have ignoring Arjuna, and his arrows, robbed Yadava women. On the other hand, they would have escorted them, at least for some distance, though not upto Hastinapur. If this robbery took place near Madhura (Uttar Pradesh ), or Kota (Rajasthan ), Abhiras might have heard about / or known Lord Shri Krishna, who spent his childhood there, and with a soft corner, they would have released Arjuna's entourage without inflicting any harm. But, there is a possibility. Abhiras and Yadavas might have been cognates or consanguineals. But in Valmiki Ramayana verses, I am unable to trace any references to Yadavas (my readers can help me). But, Abhirs by their survival instincts could overcome the impact of Brahmastra. This inference we can make by juxtaposing the contents of Valmiki Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Question: Do you believe that our mythologies, over course of their journeys through centuries, might have exaggerated the capacities and powers of the magical chants which are used to bolster the arrows of Aryans. Y/N?

Ans: Possible. Temple preachers, Balled singers have a tendency to exaggerate the valor of their Protagonists.

791 Part (2/10) of what choices were given to women characters in Indian Scriptures, particularly Valmiki Ramayana?

This is continuation of our blogpost No. 790. Click to go to our blogpost No. 790. , where we have discussed a review by Ms. Namita Gupta in Deccan Chronicle, of a book of Shri Devadutt Pattanaik, priced Rs. 199, with pages 112. The title of the review: "Matter of Choice". The title of the book: THE GIRL WHO CHOSE: A NEW WAY OF NARRATING THE RAMAYANA. My readers may recall that the Review of Ms. Namita Gupta, as well as, the book by Shri Devdutt Pattanaik talk of choices made available to the protagonist of Valmiki Ramayana, Sita.

I have already given one example of choice given by Lord Shri Ramachandra, to Mother Sita, in Yuddha Kanda (Book of War), Sita agni Pravesam (fire-test/ordeal of Sita) Episode. In that episode, Lord Rama asked Sita to set her mind on Lakshmana or Sugriva or Vibhishana or Bharata. I have also mentioned that was not the manner in which a life's partner is to be talked to by our ideal husband Shri Rama.
Sita chose to enter 'fire' when Rama disowned her and asked her to go along with somebody like Lakshmana, Bharata, Satrughna, Sugriva, Vibhishana.

We shall now, see another episode of Valmiki Ramayana, where there were limited choices or no choices, to the Crown-Queen of Dasaratha-- Kausalya. Ref. Book No. 1, Book of Children (bAla kAnda). Episode of Context: Performance of Horse Sacrifice by Dasaratha, to get children. In this episode, Queen Kausalya was asked to sleep a night with the sacrificial horse (whatever it might have meant?!!!). Next day, she was asked to stab the horse with gold knives. After that, the fat of the dead sacrificial horse was dropped into the sacrificial fires, amidst the hymns which the udghAta had sung. Dasaratha smelt the fumes from the sacrificial fire/pyre, and his sins cleansed, so that he could be entitled to get offsprings.

In English language. In Roman Script.
1-14-33
Kausalyaa tam hayam
tatra paricarya samantataha
kripaan`aihi vishashaasaha
enam tribhih paramayaa mudaa

With great delight coming on her Queen Kausalya reverently made circumambulations to the horse, and symbolically killed the horse with three knives. [1-14-33].

1-14-34
patatriNaa tadaa saardham
susthitena ca cetasaa
avasat rajaniim ekaam
kausalyaa dharma kaamyayaa.

English Gist: Kausalya, with a composed mind, and a desire for "virtuous act", resided with / slept with the horse for one night.

1-14-35
hotA adhvaryuH tatha
udgaataa hastena samayojayan
mahiShyaa parivrittyA atha
vAvAtaam aparAm tathA.

Approx. English Gist: The hotA (=host, priest who hosts the sacrificial offers to God, by dropping them into fire- sending them through fire god to the Supreme God), adhvaryu (administrator/leader/manager/captain of the sacrifice), ud-ghAta (singer of the holy hymns) have received into their hands, the Queen, neglected wives, concubines of the King. (This interpretators say was not actual gifting of queens, wives and concubines, but only symbolic gifting. The King, later takes them back by giving monetary rewards and gold.)

1-14-36
patatrin`aha tasya vapaam
uddhruitya niyateendriyaha
ruitvik parama sampannaha
shrapayaamaasa shaastrataha

English Gist: "uddhruitya niyata indriyaha" is the attributive adjectival phrase for the performing priest. That priest (Ritvik) had kept his senses under great control. "Parama sampanna" (very rich- here, according to interpreters very rich in knowledge), cooked the fat, as stipulated in the scriptures.

1-14-37
Dhuuma gandham vapaayaaha
tu jighrati sma narAdhipaha
yathA kAlam yathA nyAyam
nirNudan pApam Atmanaha

Approx. Engl. gist: "yathA kAlam yathA nyAyam" (as per [their] times and as per practices of justices of those days), narAdhipa (king) smelt the fumes and smoke, and cleansed his sins.

What will our Puri, Sringeri, Kanchi, Dvaraka, Badari, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Mysore, etc. Swamiji's say about this?

We may have to always keep in our minds, that Aryans were white. DaSaratha, might have been white. Kausalya and Sumitra might have been native queens, while Kaikeyi seems to be a white. (No evidence. Only guess work. My Readers will please forgive me.).

The White Races (America, Europe, ANZ, Canada etc.) have a tendency to treat every thing they do as 'civilised', and everything else done by brown and black body-color melanin containing humans of other countries, as barbaric and cannibalistic. Everything done by INdian Natives might have appeared to be 'kshudra pUja' (Worship of Evil Spirits') to the European Aryans who migrated to INdia. But what they did? Throw pieces of meat and fat of dead horses (includes Bulls, slaves, birds as per Mahabharata) in Asva mEtha, smell the fumes of the fat, and self-convince themselves that their sins were cleansed! Who were barbaric? Native INdians or the Imported Aryans? According to our Swamijis these Aryans are 'Worshipp-ables'.

ybrao-a-donkey's humble-personal view:

Our great authors Devdutt Pattanaik, and our reviewer Ms. Namita Gupta write of choices given to Indian women. Can they say what choice was given to the Respectable Queen Kausalya, who was asked to sleep with the horse a night, and to pierce the horse next morning with gold knives? The verse 1-4-33 uses the adverb 'paramaya muda' (great delight or happiness) for her act of piercing the horse.

Can what Valmiki said in 1-14-34, really be true?

See the adjectives and attributes used by Valmiki to describe Kausalya:
patatriNaa tadaa sArdham
susthitEna ca cEtasA
Avasat rajaniim ekAm
kausalyA dharma kaamyayA.

SusthitEna ca cEtasa = 'with a stabilised mind'. A woman who asked to stab a horse with a golden knife three times, and who was going to sleep with a dead horse for a whole night, can she really have a stabilised mind? What did she do all the night with her stable mind, while lying down beside the dead horse? What she may be/might have been thinking about? We have to do some 'para kAya pravESam' [Enter into the body of some other person (Kausalya) to read their thoughts]. Of course, Swamijis who are Great Defenders of our Culture, will skip these verses.

'makkuva'= we can equate with parama mudam (great joy), see the Sanskrit verse. dharmA abhilAsha = desire for righteousness, this we can equate with 'dharma kAmya' of Valmiki's verse quoted above. mahishi (Queen), vAvAta (concubine), parivrita (neglected wife) : there are different interpretations. Thus one SISamu (a prosody meter for verses in Telugu language) took care of nearly five verses of Valmiki Ramayana quoted above. By and large the translation is accurate and near to the original of Valmiki.

I rever Late Vavilakolanu Subba Rao garu for his hard work and dedication. We are fortunate that he was born in Telugu land.

790 Do women really have choices? This question need not be restricted only to Indian Women. It is a global question.

Trigger for this blogpost: A writeup titled "Matter of Choice" in the Tabloid Edition of Deccan Chronicle dated 13th July 2016. Link, for those who wish to have a look at it: Click to go to http://www.deccanchronicle.com/lifestyle/books-and-art/130716/matter-of-choice.html. . The author of the write-up is: Ms. Namita Gupta. It is a review of the book titled: THE GIRL WHO CHOSE: A NEW WAY OF NARRATING THE RAMAYANA. Author of the book is: Devdutt Pattanaik. pp.112. Price Rs. 199/-.

In my mother-tongue Telugu language, there is a proverb: "ravi gAncanicO, kavi gAncu neyyeDan". Approx. English equivalent: If SUN God cannot see, wherever it is, everywhere, 'kavi' will see. The 20th and 21st Century meaning of the Hindi and Telugu (some other Indic languages) word 'kavi' seems to gaining a restricted meaning of a 'poet or a writer'. The word kavi has a very wide meaning, apart from the meaning of 'poet / writer'. For example, kavi=a medical doctor. In North Indian States, an ayurvedic medical degree used to be given titled 'kavi rAj' or 'kavi rAja'. The 'kavi' of India is not only a poet, writer, scholar, medical doctor, but also, he is a versatile genius. He is like the Great American Scholar, depicted by Ralph Waldo Emerson, in his famous speech of August 1837. For those who wish to compare the contrast 'kavi' and the 'The American Scholar' can download a pdf version of the speech at the following link: Click to go to

Trigger for this blogpost:

For the time being we shall take the meaning of 'writer' only. What a poet or writer can see, what Sun God cannot see, when his rays penetrate throughout the Earth and the Universe? A kavi's intellect goes far beyond the penetrative capabilities of even the SUN. If any of our readers is interested to read an anecdotal story which some people associate with Legendary Sanskrit Poet Kalidasa, and some others associate it with Buddhist Jataka Tales. The story is somewhat an exaggeration of intellectual capabilities of a 'kavi'. But the story has some content for intellectual reinvigoration. The story also highlights a moral, linked to gratitude and ungratefulness. In some other blog post we shall discuss this story, as this particular blog post is becoming too lengthy to read.

Back to our write-up by Ms. Namita Gupta in Deccan Chronicle, about the book of Shri Devadutt Pattanaik, priced Rs. 199, with pages 112.

We shall start with a quote from the review:

The book highlights how women have always had choices. Even if they did not exercise any, it was a choice they made. The story told keeping in view Sita as a focal character gives a refreshing perspective, one which we have never been told earlier. When asked about what was the idea behind retelling the Ramayana, the author states, “I realised during a workshop that Sita makes five choices in the Valmiki Ramayana and that she never blames anyone for the consequences of her action. I found this very modern. I wondered why no one had highlighted it before. We are too conditioned to see Sita as a whimpering victim and that needed questioning.” It also brings forth a fundamental truth — every choice made has its consequence too.

"...Choice is not easy in any society — modern or pre-modern. It has consequences. Not all good. Dealing with it is always tough. Sita’s life serves as a good guide to be at peace with whatever life throws at us. Mythology has always intrigued me and what I like about it is that it reveals how humans think. We think no differently from people who lived hundreds of years ago. ..."

I have not purchased the book THE GIRL WHO CHOSE: A NEW WAY OF NARRATING THE RAMAYANA. Nor read it.

As a person, who has studied Valmiki Ramayana (Sanskrit version), in depth, I am writing this. For those wish to study my reviews (ybrao-a-donkey's reviews), here is the link: Click to go to ybrao-a-donkey's study-reviews on Valmiki Ramayana, with proof verses from Valmiki Ramayan itself.

ONE STRAIGHT QUESTION: What choices did Sita have?

To know the reply for this crucial question, I request my readers to study my blog post No.044 at my blog ramayanayb.blogspot.com. Click to go to ramayanayb post No. 044.

There, you will see what choice was given to our Sita, by the God Sri Ramachandra? Here is a quote from the Valmiki Ramayan, which I have discussed in the above blogpost 044.

Oh secure lady! I am declaring this today, with a determined mind. Set your mind on Lakshmana or Bharata as is comfortable to you.

Alternatively, set your mind, as per your convenience, on S`atrughna, Sugriva or Vibhishana.

I greatly respect the freedom of expression of Shri Devdutt Pattanaik and Ms. Namita Gupta. But, I only request them to read Valmiki Ramayana Sanskrit version in depth. They can also read my ramayanayb blog, if they wish to.

Now, here is a husband who suspects his wife's chastity, and wants her to prove her purity by touching a burning iron ron used for digging pits, called gaDDa pAra in Telugu. The heads of their Caste also do some "DU DU basavanna" (Like an ornamental bullock, well trained to say yes for everything the master utters). She is also ready to touch the burning rod.

Fortunately, the Trainee Sub Inspector of Police, Jaggaiahpet, like a villain entered into our modern Ramayana, and stopped the ordeal. My cudos to him.

Now, our Devdutt Pattanaik sAb is realistic at least in one respect: History repeats. We Indians think in the same manner even after Centuries. See the quote of Pattanaikji, from above review: Mythology has always intrigued me and what I like about it is that it reveals how humans think. We think no differently from people who lived hundreds of years ago. ..."

736 Were the Daemon Women guarding Sita, Indian Natives or Not? Why they were uglified so much?

At our blog post No. 734 (Click to go to post No.734) , we have discussed how male supervisors were banging on the toilet doors of female workers asking them to come back and work on the bench. In that particular blog post, I have by my natural instinct, compared the male supervisors guarding the female workers to the daemon orgesses guarding Sita in the Ashoka Gardens of the Lanka. While this is the 21st Century scenario of SEZs in India, I am tempted to present to my Readers, the State of Affairs of Ancient India. The verses describing the daemon women guarding Sita, as seen by Hanuman, in Book 5 Sundara Kanda, Chapter 17 --sarga 17--, verses 5 to 18) may not represent the true depiction of the Daemon Women. The verses might or 'might not ' have been the work of the Sage Valmiki. They might have been later-day insertions or interpolations by those who were so fanatic to deface and uglify the Indian Natives, as a contrast to the Aryan Masters.

Another Context:-

There was a turbulant discussion in Indian Parliament, about the Goddess Durga and the Daemon Mahishasura, slain by her. Readers may recollect the exchange of conversations which took place between Ms. Smriti Irani, the Union Minister for Human Resource Development and the Opposition Benches. Ms. Irani's view was that Goddess Durga was insulted.

CONTEXT IN VALMIKI RAMAYANA:- Sita was abducted by daemon King Ravana and kept in a Garden called "Ashoka vanam". Hanuman, at the instance of his vAnara king Sugriva went in search of Sita. Source of these meanings: kind courtesy-- valmikiramayan.net.

Where did these women come from? They were very much the natives of India. Then, why they were described so horribly, as though they were having faces of horses, camels, donkeys, and with bodies smeared with meat and blood. It was the European way of describing blacks, calling them niggers. It was the Aryan way of describing their enemies, whether black or white.

In Volume I, the Book of Children (bAla kAnDa), Chapter 26 (sarga 26), Verse 9, i.e. 1-26-9, in the context of slaying of the Daemon TATaka by Rama, at the instance of Sage ViSvAmitra, similar ugly description of tATaka was made.
tAm dR^iSTvA rAghavaH kruddhaam
vikritaam vikrita AnanAm |
pramANEna ati vriddhaam ca
lakShmaNam so abhyabhAShata || 1-26-9

vikritAm= ugly bodied; vikrita AnanAm = ugly faced; pramAnEna ati vriddhAm = huge sized in terms of body. According to this Chapter 26, tATaka was a Yakshi (a sort of 50% demy-Goddess, at an intermediate stage between humans and 100% demy Gods-Goddesses. In Jainism, yakshiNis are appointed by the Head of Demy Gods Indra, as protecting Goddesses for Jain Gurus such as Neminatha, ParSva nAtha.

ybrao-a-donkey's additional comments: Comparing the Ramayana Period, and the Mahabharata period, we may find that there was some softening of attitude towards demons. For example, in Mahabharata, Bhima married Hidimbi, belonging to a clan of daemons, and begot GhaTOtkaca as his son. GhaToktkaca was depicted as noble in Mahabharata.

Shall finish shortly.

734 (Part 3/100) of DILEMMAS AND ENIGMAS OF INDIAN ECONOMY - Review of One Eyed King Statement of Shri Raghuram Rajan - Frog Kings on Joy-rides

This is in continuation of our blog posts Click to go to post 724 (part 1/100), and Click to go to post 732 (part 2/100), of India's Economic and Financial Dilemmas and Enigmas, a sequel of comment by RBI Governor Shri Raghuram Rajan, that India is like 'a one-eyed king', whereas the world is full of blindness. We are, now, taking up the part 3/100. India's Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Chief Ministers of State, People's Representatives, everybody 24/7/365 assure people that foreigners will start new industries in India and give employment to thousands of people. Prompted by these assurances, people day-dream that by becoming employees of Multi National Companies (MNCs) they can have all comforts and luxuries in the world. We shall, now see, one live example of one such Employment Generator called Brandix Apparel City in Achyutapuram, near Visakhapatnam.

Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, has allocated 1000 acres land to the Brandix Apparel City, on a lease of Re. 1 per acre. That means, the Brandix Apparel City will be paying Rs. 1,000/- as rent for 1000 acres. This is nothing but giving 1000 acres FREE.

Question: What additional concessions / freebees are given to SEZs?

Concessional income tax rate of 20% for a period of 15 years from the date of commencement of commercial production as against present corporate tax 32.45%.

Units can import goods without payment of duty for manufacturing and operation purpose.

Services tax is exempt.

Procurement of goods from Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) without payment of duty.

DTA sales are permissible (subject to duty), provided net foreign exchange earner.

50% exemption on Stamp Duty, Registration Fee on transfer of lands meant for Industrial use in the Special Economic Zone area.

Complete exemption of stamp duty and registration fee for loan agreements, credit deeds, mortgages and hypothecation deeds executed by the SEZ Units for assets in the SEZ in favour of banks or financial institutions.

Other state taxes including sales tax, VAT, luxury tax and entertainment tax and state duties on transactions within SEZ. Sale tax and other State Taxes on inputs (goods and services) made to SEZ units from Off Zone suppliers within the State.

The State exempts Power in SEZ from Electricity Duty and Tax.

Captive Power will be allowed in SEZ. Exemption from wheeling charges and grid protection charges levied on Captive Power.

NO requirement of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) approval.

After giving numerous concessions in a gold platter, how should an SEZ function?

As per the MOU the Brandixapparelcity entered into with the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, the SEZ has to provide employment to about 60,000 persons. But, it is reported to have provided employment only to about 16,000 persons. Leaving aside the quantity of employment generation, the "quality of employment" also warrants attention of the Law Enforcing Authorities in INdia, and the State Andhra Pradesh.

I.L.O. = International Labor Organisation. Its organ, International Labor Office, has an ILO Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV). In March 2012, they have got a report prepared by Pallavi Mansingh, Suneetha Eluri and Sreejesh N.P., Centre for Education and Communication (CEC), New Delhi. A pdf copy of this report can be downloaded from the following link:- Click to download the ILO Report in pdf. It has 56 pages. It contains not only Brandix SEZ, Achyutapuram, but also other SEZs in India.

Here is an extract from the ILO Study, Page 50 of the total 56 pages, which shows the State of Affairs, apparently prevailing at Achyutapuram SEZ.

3. Atchutapuram SEZ, AP: Yet another SEZ under operation in Visakhapatnam is at Achutapuram; 9200 acres of land were acquired for this SEZ alone. There are 20 units, which employ a young workforce between the ages of 20 and 40 years. Brandix India Apparel, which is a textile factory, employs 16,000 workers in this SEZ.

Most of the workers are women and they are forced to work continuously for eight hours in a standing posture. Several cases of harassment have been reported to CITU. There are restrictions over women workers even going to toilets. Women workers are asked to attend the call of nature within a stipulated time of 5 minutes. If any worker fails to report back in the said time, male supervisors bang on the toilet doors. Several cases of sexual harassment are reported from here and women workers are not allowed maternity benefits.

Whenever workers revolted, the management used to file false cases against them. The police resorted to intense repression in many instances. Once, when CITU leaders asked the police why there was this kind of an unusual response to workers, they responded by saying, “What can we do? The orders are directly coming from CM’s office!” Even the police is helpless as there are strict orders from higher offices to curb the struggle by all means.

In spite of the huge repression, CITU has been able to register unions in some of the SEZ units. But there are several restrictions: no pamphlet can be taken inside the gate, no one can distribute pamphlets at the gate, and no trade union leader is allowed within one kilometre of the SEZ. Workers come to work from distant places, even 30 to 40 kilometres away. The company arranges their transport in order to prevent workers from interacting with anyone. Buses pick up the workers from their homes and directly drop them at the company door. All these workers are paid very less. This company releases polluted water with chemicals into the sea. There is a direct pipeline from the factory to the sea. Because of this polluted water, the fisherfolk of Pudimadaka are losing their livelihood as the contaminated water is killing the fish. When the fisher community of that area raised this issue, the company entered into an agreement with them. As per the agreement, the company has to employ 3,000 fishermen who lost their livelihood. So far, though, only about 600 fishermen have been given work in the factory. Management pays them Rs 70 to Rs 80 per day, whereas they used to earn Rs 300 to Rs 400 per day as fishermen. When they demanded a wage increase, all of them were retrenched. The agreement is null and void now.

If the above was the situation prevailing in 2012, the situation ought to have improved by 2016. But, apparently not. Now, the situation has culminated, to a strike by its Women Workers.

Another picture, kind courtesy BrandixApparelCity's Brochure.

It appears that the Employers at the ApparelsCity seem to be paying THE ABSOLUTE MINIMUM REQUIRED BY LAW (MINIMUM WAGES ACT or whatever else it is), OR something slightly above it, so as to avoid prosecution. Branded Apparels command premium prices in the world, not to speak of India. That means, the Manufacturers in the SEZ should have been earning super-profits by charging high prices to the consumers, and paying low wages to the Laborers. The Manufacturers are also swallowing all the concessions given by Central and the State Governments.

Karl Marx's Theory of Value should immediately come to our mind. According to the Theory of Value, the "Value Addition" made by the Workers to the merchandise, and recovered from the consumers by charging Skimming Prices from them, are knocked away by Manufacturers.

"Male Supervisors banging on the toilet doors of the Women's Toilets" !!! Even prisons may not have this type of conditions. We cannot blame the Male Superviors themselves personaly because, they might have been acting under the orders of the Manufacturers and the SEZ Owners. Like the oggresses who were entrusted the duty of guarding Sita in Ashoka Gardens by the Ten Headed Ravana, the Male Supervisors who banged the doors of the female toilets must be under direct or indirect pressure from their employers.

The ILO's Report clearly shows the helplessness of the Police, because they get direct orders from CMO (Chief Minister's Office).

Now, our readers can appreciate why our Rulers can be compared to "Frog-Kings". India is not a "one-eyed king" as made out by Mr. Raghuram Rajan, RBI Governor. Our Rulers are the FROG-KINGS who are taking joy-rides on the FOREIGN INVESTOR SERPANTS.

TAIL PIECE

Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh will be performing the House Warming Ceremony of the Temporary Secretariat Building of the Andhra Pradesh Government, at Velagapudi Amaravati Capital Region, on the early morning of 25th April 2016. Why such a hurry? The State was separated in 2014. The Government slept upto Oct. 2015 without deciding on setting up a temporary Secretariat in a leased building, or constructing a temporary Secretariat building.

The construction of the building has not reached any stage of completion. It may be completed, as per schedule by June-August 2016. Hurrying up the builders to speed up construction, if done beyond a limit, can be extremely dangerous. They may compromise on quality. They may compromise on "minimum waiting period" required at different stages. If floors are raised on "raw - moist" pillars / foundations, scaffoldings may collapse. When Cement Concrete Mixtures are used, minimum time and curing is to be given for the chemical reactions which have to take place between limestone and sand. Engineers to oblige Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu, may say "yes" every wish of his, and his astrologers.

But, Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu is under an addiction of conforming to the dictates of self-styled astrologers.

According to astrologer, there are no auspicious days ahead in the year, for performing house warming ceremonies and entering new buildings. Next six months, there are not going to be any marriages performed in Andhra Pradesh.

ANDHRA PRADESH AND INDIA are BEING RULED BY ASTROLOGERS.

ybrao-a-donkey's humble comments. You have every right to differ with me. I respect your right. However, pl. examine this donkey's views also.

Question: Do you mean to say that there are no "AtmA"s?

Ans: In my donkey's humble view: Body itself is the soul of itself, which includes, body's mind, intellect, ego, mental disposition. Atma Samyama yOga means control of body, and the associated senses of thought, vision, smell, taste, touch, hearing.

AghrAya rAmaH tam mUrdhni

English Gist, with context in the Epic Valmiki Ramayana: Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita, left Ayodhya to forest on exile. They camped at ChitrakUT. Bharata came to Ayodhya from his maternal Uncle's City, summoned by Sage VasishTha. Bharata was not willing to get coronated. He rebuked Kaikeyi. Then, taking all the three queens of daSaratha, Sage VasishTha, Ministers of the Kingdom, Army, he ventures into forests. Reaches the place where Sita Rama Lakshmanas were camping. Rama received Bharata with love.

Rama smelt the hair of Bharata (a gesture of fraternal love), customary in Ancient India. Took him into his embrace. Rama made Bharata to sit on his (Rama's) lap. Then he questions Bharata, for details.

What were the ages of Rama and Bharata at that time? With a few hours gap, both were of the same age.

As per Book 1, Chapter 20, Verse 2 Una shoDasha varshO me rAmO rAjIva lOcanaHa | na yuddha yogyatAm asya pashyAmi saha rAkshasaiHi || Rama was 16 years of age when Sage Visvamitra took him to forest and Mithila where Shri Rama broke Shiva's bow.

As per Book 1, Chapter 77, Verse 25, 1-77-25, rAmaH ca sItayaa sArdham vijahAra bahUn ritUn manasviI tad gatamAnasya tasyA hridi samarpitaHa | , after his marriage with Sita, Rama spent several years in AyOdhya, loving Sita.

As per Book 5 (Sundara Kanda), Chapter 33 , Verse 17 samA dvAdaSa tatra aham rAghavasya nivESane, bhunjanam nuyAn bhogAn sarva kAma samridhini | , Sita told Hanuman, that she lived in Rama's House with great comfort for twelve years.

As per Book 2 (Ayodhya Kanda), Chapter 20, Verse 45 i.e. 2-20-45, dasha sapta ca varShANi tava jAtasya rAghava | asitAni prakAnkShantyA mayA duhkha parikShayam. , Kausalya said to Rama that she had waited for 17 years after his upanayanam (thread ceremony), with a hope that he would redress her grave hardships in Ayodhya (presumably in the hands of KaikEyi). It is not clear when the thread ceremony of Shri Rama was performed. If we assume that his thread ceremony was performed at the age 8, then adding 17 years of Kausalya's waiting, Shri Rama will be 25, when he was asked to go on a forest exile.

I (ybrao-a-donkey) have read somewhere in Valmiki Ramayana itself, that Shri Rama functioned as Prince and assisted Dasaratha in administration for 17 years in Ayodhya. This verse, I am unable to trace now. I shall search again and quote.

Hence if we take 16 + 12, years, the age of Rama and Bharata when they met in ChitrakUt may be 28 years. If we accept the idea of 16 + 17 years, then their age may be 33 or 34.

The question of propriety which arises here is: Can a man of 25/28/34 years, make his brother aged 25/28/34 years sit on his lap?

To continue and revise this, with more proof..

633 Goddess of Interpretations and Lion of Lecturers has to study Valmiki Ramayana in greater depth.

We have in Telugu Language, Great Anvaya Saraswatis (A title declaring a person as Goddess of Learning of Interpretation and Application). There are Lions of Lecturers in Arsha Dharma (Lions of Lecturers on Ancient Culture and Religion of India- Arsha DharmOpanyAsa kEsaris.). Since they get lot of opportunities on Temple Platforms and TV Channels to lecture to people who do not care to deeply study our scriptures, whatever they say is treated as sacro-sanct, because spectators clap for whatever the preacher say, since the preachers say what the spectators want.

Recently, I had an occasion to watch on a TV Devotional Channel, a discourse on Valmiki Ramayana. The GODDESS OF INTERRETATION & LION OF LECTURERS was explaining how a King has to rule his subjects. The usual stuff of every body should do the duties imposed by their caste i.e. a Brahmin should do penance, A Kshatriya should fight, A Vysya should do agriculture or business, A Sudra should serve the upper castes, Brahmins should be worshipped at all costs etc. etc. Without losing an opportunity, the Goddess-Lecturer also threw a jibe against the Reservation System of Governments in Govt. Jobs.

I am writing this blog post because the Saraswati-Lion unnecessarily threw stones against fact-seekers (satyanveshakas).

There is ample evidence to infer that Aryans who migrated to India from North Europe, do not follow the practice of Idol Worship. This is probably because there was no idol worship in their Mother Land North Europe-- Norway, Sweden (Scandinavia), Denmark and Holland (North Sea Countries), Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Old Prussia, Germany, Sudovia etc. Fire is very important for them because of Cold Climate. Houses in those countries must have fire places or in modern days Room Heaters etc. etc. Then they had to burn animals in fires for cooking their food. All this resulted in their worshipping the Indo-European Proto type God Vishn, by sending worship-food to him through Fire God, throwing animals, and animal cutpieces into sacrificial fires.

When Aryans entered into India they found that in India, there existed a culture of idol worship and there were temples. There was also a culture of non-violence against plants and animals. The Migrant North Europeans, and the Phallus-worshipping South Europeans might have been surprised with the sculptures and temples existing in India.

The Early Indians, who were mostly forest dwellers, farmers and shpherds, did not like the Aryan methods of worship of "Yagnas" and "YAgams", throwing animals into fires and sending them to Yagna nArAyana. (Early Indians may be early Jains. This I have already covered in my previous blog posts).

As Vishn was the main God of Aryans (about Indra, Rudra etc. I shall write separately), the principal scriptures of Aryans i.e. Valmiki Ramayan, Vyasa MAHABHARATA, Vyasa Mahabhagavata centred around Lord VishNu. Though Mahabharata Drona Parva has some verses in praise of Shiva (also called mahAdEva)(these may be later period insertions), basically all the three Scriptures have by and large either ignored or tried to belittle everything non-VishNu. There were no references to Temples, except one or two verses here and there.

What our Goddess of-Learning-Lion caught hold of in Valmiki Ramayana, to throw rubbish at those who say that Aryan methods of worship did not centre around idol worship, that they were only Fire Worshippers, and that there were no Temples during the three Scripture period of Valmiki Ramayana, Vyasa Maha Bharata, and Vyasa Mahabhagavata, was Chapter 100 of Volume of Ayodhya (Ayodhya Kanda, Sarga 100). Occasion: The Lion was discoursing on VAlmiki Ramayana on the TV Channel to innocent viewers.

The problems which the Temple preachers and TV discoursers face in exploring and spreading truths are

1. they are not free citizens. Their sponsors control them financially.

2. Conflict of interest is involved.

3. Spectators expect only "praises" for scriptures.

Hence I do not blame them personally. My grievance is that they are becoming instruments and tools in the hands of fanatics and obscurantists, to withhold truths from people. In the process, the expectation from them that they have to awaken the masses, suffers rude jolts.

Our Goddess of Intepretation -aka- Lion of Lecturersr was interpreting Chapter 100 of Valmiki Ramayana, in that particular TV Episode. While there is already ample evidence that Aryans were not idol worshippers, our Lion wanted to argue that there were temples in Ramayana's Ayodhya. Though he has not quoted the particular verse which said that there were "deva-sthAns (Places for Gods)", he said that Valmiki Ramayana itself mentioned that there were temples in Ayodhya.

For the benefit of our readers I reproduced below the relevant text:

Our Goddess-of-Learning&Lion seem to be referring to the undernoted verses
Valmiki Ramayana Book 2, Chapter 100, Verse 43.

English Script
kachchit chaitya Satair jrishtaha sunivishta jana Akulaha
dEva sthAnaih prapAbhih cha taTAkaih cha upaSObhitaha.

Telugu script:

That's-all , he has come to a conclusion, that there were temples with idols and deities. The deva-sthAns (places for Gods) could just have been platforms beside the sacrificial fires, where Gods are supposed to dwell without any idols. This type of vacant platforms and pulpits we see in prayerhouses of all religions Semitic Religions, European Religions, South East Asian Religions, Chinese Religions, Japanese Religions, even if they shun idol-worship. Deities, Statues, Idols of metal, wood, stone exist in Temples which permit such edifices, such as Buddhism, Jainism, Hinduism. In other words, there is NO COMPULSION THAT IDOLS / DEITIES SHOULD HAVE BEEN INSTALLED THERE.

Our Goddess of Interpretation -aka- Lion of Lecturers forgot about the entire set of possibilities and probabilities of prayer-places-without idols and jumped into a hasty conclusion that there were idol-deity installed temples in vAlmiki rAmayana.

He also forgot to observe that out of the 76 verses in Chapter 100 of Ayodhya Kanda, at least 11-76 verses are either later-period-insertions by Priests and Preachers over the Centuries, or at least out of Context with the Text. Reason for Insertions: Enforce four-caste System (CAtur varNa vyavastha) and make Sudras Servants of Top Two castes Brahmanas and Kshatiyas. This is the common thread of all the European-manufactured Scriptures to a great extent VaishNavaite, and to a lesser extent Shaivite.

What was the Context of Chapter 100 in the Volume of Ayodhya ? Shrirama, Lakshmana and Sita went into Forest Exile. Just 3 or 4 days elapsed. Sita Rama Lakshmanas were in Chitrakoot.

Bharata yet did n't taken over reigns of Ayodhya with Rama's footwear (pAdukalu). Bharata and Satrughna returned from their paternal Uncle & Grandfather's place. Bharata was asked to take over the kingdom. He didn't like it. With his three mothers, Guru Vasishta, citizens, he came to Chitra koot to persuade Rama to return back to Ayodhya.

The first ten verses: Shri Rama enquired from Bharata about well-being of their father Dasaratha.

Then starts the 66 verse long preaching session. Gist: How a king should rule his subjects, how Brahmins should be respected, how the people of four castes should follow and perform their allotted duties. Bharata didn't ask for them. Unasked by Dasaratha from the sky, or Vasistha from his seat, Shri Rama was asking for a Performance Report from Bharata, though he didn't yet get an opportunity to rule. Unasked, Shri Rama was also giving him a lecture on how to rule, without first waiting to hear to Bharata, about the well-being of their father. This lecturing could have been postponed, till Bharata revealed his main news (death of Dasaratha). The Priests who inserted the lecture in later Centuries forgot about the need for this proprietry and aptness. But they didn't apparently bother.

We can find one such Complex / Compound of sacrificial pyres (homa Gundas) and deva-sthans (Places for Gods), we can find in Valmiki Ramayana itself. Book of Forests (Aranya kAnDa i.e. Rama's exile to Forests). Chapter No. VALMIKI RAMAYANA 3-12-17, 3-12-18, 3-12-19, 3-12-20 BOOK OF FOREST ARANY`A KAAND`A CONTEXT: Rama is in the forest. After about 12 years there, he visits the hermitage of the sage Agastya. Before finally reaching the altar for sacrifices, he sees temples (sacred places -sanctus)for 17 Gods.

3. Vishn`u
4. Indra
5. Sun (Vivasvata)
6. Moon (SOma= moon. Eg. SOma SEkhar=One who protected Moon.)
7. Bhaga (One of the Adityas. Similar to the Sun. Dispenser of fortune)
8. Lord of North and Riches (Kubera)
9. Dhaata
10 Vidhaata (Created by Brahma to help the first human Prajapati
11. Wind God (Vaayu)
12. Rain God (Varun`a who wields a noose)
13. Gaayatri (Female Goddess of Gnosis)
14. Serpant God (Adi S`eesha)(Vishn`u sleeps on Seesha)
15. Kite God (Garud`a - Vishn`u's vehicle)
16. Commander of Gods (Kaartikeeya, the second son of S`iva)
17. God of Death (Yama Dharma Raja or simply Yama or Dharma).

From the above list, it can be seen that there is no place Lord Shiva. We can also see that there is no place for the God "Ganapati (vinAyaka)" the First Son of Lord Shiva. Serial No. 16 above kArtikEya though is in general considered as Shiva's second son, ybrao-a-donkey considers that, at least as far as Valmiki Ramayana is concerned, kArtikEya is apparently LESS SHAIVITE. Strangely, there is no place for all the three principal Goddesses Saraswati, Mahalakshmi and Parvati (or Adi Shakti). Gayatri alone is the Female Goddess in the list. She is considered as a rival for Saraswati, seeking Creator Brahma's love.

Some readers may have an impression that "bhaga" , S.No. 7 in the above list, may be Shiva. But the word bhaga seems to be more linked to "Prosperity or bhAgyam".

Sanskrit bhaga (IAST: bhaga) is a term for "lord, patron", but also for "wealth, prosperity". The cognate term in Avestan and Old Persian is baga, of uncertain meaning but used in a sense in which "lord, patron, sharer/distributor of good fortune" might also apply. The cognate in Slavic languages is the root bogъ. The semantics is similar to English lord (from hlaford "bread-warden"), the idea being that it is part of the function of a chieftain or leader to distribute riches or spoils among his followers. The name of the city of Baghdad derives from Middle Persian baga-data, "lord-given".

ybrao-a-donkey says: The reference to Avesta (Zend Avesta of Zorashtrianism of Iran) and Old Persian (Persia was an old name for Iran), suggests that Aryans have migrated to India, through Iran also, apart from, through Central Asia.

ybrao-a-donkey adds: These verses 3-12-17 to 3-12-20 which describe the list of Gods in Sage Agastya's Hermitage may also be an insertion of a later period. Another observation which can be made, there is no mention of existence of any idols or deities, or their descriptions. It can be noted by careful readers of Valmiki Ramayana, that Valmiki is a great describer. If there were idols / deities of wood/stone/mud/metal, he would definitely have described at least some of them.

Question: How can you say that Great Sage Valmiki was a great describer?

Answer: Valmiki Ramayana abounds in a wealth of descriptions and depictions of sun, moon, moonlight, stars, water and rivers, mountains, sunrises, sunsets, and what not? In verse No. 5-29-4, Valmiki described Sita's thigh as comparable to an Elephant's head.

If metal / mud / stone / wood idol worship existed as temple deities in those days, Valmiki would not definitely have omitted to describe them at least once in the 24,000 verses.

WHY VALMIKI OMITTED DESCRIBING TEMPLES IN CHAPTER 25 OF BOOK 1 (BALA KANDA, SARGA 5)

Entire Chapter 5 with 23 verses, of Bala Kanda describes Ayodhya City. None of the 23 verses describe temples of Ayodhya. This particular verse 23 says that Priests, Vedic Scholars maintained Ritual Fires. There is no mention about their worshipping idols /deities. According to Vaishnava worship methods, Lord VishNu is an "alankAra priya" (Liker of Decorations). Then the Priests must also have been spending some time on decorating the idols /deities of Lord Vishnu and Mahalakshmi. In the entire Valmikia Ramayana, Valmiki does not describe any such idol / deity decorations, pushpa yAgams (flower sacrifices which Tiruchanuru Temple celebrated one recently), or some Swing Service ie. placing Lord's idols on swings like cradles (Unjal Seva)(which Tirumala Temple celebrates everyday). It is not that Valmiki avoids vivid descriptions of visuals.

WHY VALMIKI WHO DESCRIBED DASARATHA'S ASVAMETHA YAGNA (HORSE SACRIFICE) IN SUCH DETAIL, OMITTED TO MENTION ABOUT OBEISANCES TO DEITIES / IDOLS?

Chapter 8 of Book 1 Bala Kanda described the Asvametha Sacrifice in length, including how Kausalya stabbed the sacrificial horse, and how Dasaratha inhaled the smoke of burning horse fat. But none of the 25 verses make any mention of temples in the City.

TAILPIECE धूमकेतु తోకచుక్క

TELANGANA CHIEF MINISTER Shri K. Chandra Sekhara Rao (popularly known as KCR) is celebrating an great Sacrifice called "Ayuta Chandi yAga" in which around a thousand priests are participating. What is to be found there? Only Sacrificial pyres or fires in which lot of cow's ghee (clarified butter), corn, wheat etc. are poured (in ancient times animal meats such as horse's meat used to be thrown). No idols / deities can be found. In the 21st Century yagnas / yagas (sacrifices) animal sacrifices are avoided. Recitations of magic chants continue. On the Compound Walls (as seen on TV Channels), there is a Swastik Symbol apart from Om symbol. Swastik is a Symbol of Germany, Larvia, Lithuania and Old Prussian culture. Hitler laid a claim for the Swastik Symbol. Of course Buddhism and Jainism also lay a claim for Swastik. For example in Amaravati Museum, on one Buddhist stone sculpture, we can see Swastik Mark.

Shri KCR is reported to be spending about Rs. 120 million (12 crore) personal money for that. He is reported to earn from his farm land (in which there is a farm-house) Rs. 10 million per annum in the form of harvests. Our Lord Shri Rama in Valmiki Ramayana performed a hundred horse sacrifices and several other sacrifices, honored priests with great gifts etc. Now our modern Rama i.e. KCR is also a great sacrifice-performer and great honorer of Priests with great gifts. Who says that history does not repeat? History repeats!

President of India Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, Governor of Tamil Nadu, Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Union Urban Development Minister Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, everybody will be visiting the Ayuta Chandi Yagam and smelling the fumes from the sacrificial fires. Rooms have been specially built for them.

Messrs. KCR and Nara Chandra Babu Naidu (Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh State) may not speak out. In the inner Chamber of their minds, they may be GREAT SUPPORTERS OF CASTE SYSTEM with all the hierarchial dominations and suppressions. All the key portfolios will be controlled by those who belong to the same caste as KCR and Chandra Babu Naidu! Dynastic Successions you can see! Rama gave a part of MP to Lakshmana's sons. Rama gave another part of MP, Chattisgadh and Orissa to Satrughna's sons. Rama helped Bharata and Yudhajit/Asvapati to conquer Kandahar (Afghanisthan) with great bloodshed. Bharata's sons were made Kings there. Rama's sons Kusa and Lava were anointed in Ayodhya to succeed Rama. Now, in Telangana, who will be anointed? KTR ? Harish RAo ? Kavita? In Residual Andhra Pradesh who will be anointed? Lokesh? Balakrishna ? Wait and see. What will happen in 2019?

Swami Dayananda Saraswati founded Arya Samaj, a Reform Movement in India. Their main methods of worship consist of sacrificial fires in which clarified butter and herbs are used as offerings. Idol /deity worship is rare.

To continue.
