1072 If Mr. Narendra Modi is a Prime Minister of 'Yeh masla hai kya (What is the Problem?', will Mr. Rahul Gandhi be a PM of 'yeh masAla hai kyA? (What is this pot-pourri?)'

Photo modified by ybrao-a-donkey. Due apologies to PMOI and FMOI.
Utterances of our Rulers are like acts of our past birth. In 2012, Mr. Arun Jaitley, BJP Leader in Rajya Sabha, and present Finance Minister, spoke about Weakness of Indian Rupee, and the Evil of Increase in Prices of Petrol and Diesel. See the following Video, at youtube.com.:--
Above are some screenshots from the Video.

Click here to go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJQxjwlEBqEsee the Video in which Mr. Arun Jaitley, Finance Minister spoke about Weakness of Rupee, and Increase in Petrol Prices.

Question: It appears as though that Mr.Narendra Modi and Mr. Arun Jaitley have failed in maintaining a sort of stability of External Value of Indian Rupee. Do you think that, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, if elected to power, can uplift and stabilise Indian Rupee?

Ans: Ideal Position

Ans: In an ideal situation, be it Indian Rupee, or any other International Currency has to find an equilibrium for its external value, on the basis of demand for it from Foreign Buyers, and other Remittance Senders into India,, whereas Supply of Rupee comes from Indian Importers, and other Outward Remittance Senders from India to abroad.

This type of Ideal Situation might have been possible some decades back when there were no/few Foreign Direct Investments and Foreign Portfolio Investments into India. Those were days when Balance of Trade and Balanace of Payment Components were few in number, and were less complex. Today, the Fluctuations in Receipts and Payments relating to Foreign Investments seem to dominate India's Balance of Payments Current Account Position.

Though most of the Foreign Investments into India, unlike the Foreign Investments into China, are believed to be Recycled Remittances of the Money Laundered funds of Indian Corporates, and Indian Industrialists, somehow even they seem to be subject to vicissitudes and vagaries of Algoriths operating in Europe, North America, and Tax Haven Countries which decide when to invest and when to withdraw sometimes based on Mathematical Reasoning, and sometimes based on Intuition or hunches or beliefs. Consequently, even for minor or flimsy developments in global markets, Foreign Investors sell away their Investments or buy in bulk.

Mr. Rahul Gandhi may not have necessary inclination or time to study these intricacies and discuss with Finance and Commerce Ministers.
This is a problem with almost all the Prime Minsiters who ruled India ever since Independence, with the probable exception of Mr. Manmohan Singh. Though Mr. Manmohan Singh is regarded as an Economics Expert by virtue of his studies at London School of Economics, the 1991 Reforms initiated by him ever since 1991, do not prove that he acted with a "Studied mind". Reason: Anybody, who has a very basic idea about the unreliability and volatility of World Investment Streams will never create an Economy which is dependent on Foreign Investment Flows. Of course, Mr. Manmohan Singh may not be the only Finance Minister on this Earth, who crave for Foreign Investments.

Almost all the Economic Advisers to Indian Government are those who have worked with IMF, World Bank etc., or worked as Professors in Euro-American Universities, and they have brain-washed intelligences, and their Intellects have lost their intrinsic worth(s).

Mr. Narendra Modi seems to be his own Economic Adviser, who seems to believe that he does ot need guidance with IMF-World-Bank brainwashed Experts, or Indigenous Experts. This may be the reason for Mr. Narendra Modi's sudden secretive announcement of Demonetisation on 8th Nov. 2016.

Here is an Article by Mr. Aakar Patel, Renowned Writer, in Deccan Chronicle dated 11th Dec. 2016, about Mr. Narendra Modi's style of taking decisions and signing files: Click here to go to DEC and study the Article. http://www.deccanchronicle.com/opinion/op-ed/111216/note-ban-success-test-of-pms-working-style.html
Courtesy above article of Shri Aakar Patel, from Deccan Chronicle: Mr Modi also revealed that he was a “good listener” and was able to absorb what was being said to him well. When I heard him say this I thought it made him vulnerable to the bureaucrats he was trusting because he is dependent and can be fed as much or as little as the officer wants him to know. In the style of working as Mr Modi describes it, a complex matter that occupies dozens and perhaps hundreds of pages in files is reduced to an oral summary. It is possible that because of lack of time or because the issue is overly complex, the oral summary is simplistic. "... On the basis of this summary, Mr Modi takes a decision and this is then executed through the administration. This style seems to have worked well for Mr Modi because he is thought of as being a good chief minister in his 12 years in Gujarat. These days, however, I have been again thinking about Mr Modi’s style of taking input in this form when taking decisions. That is because the Supreme Court is asking critical questions about the way in which the demonetisation policy was rolled out. The court wants to know if the policy was planned properly, or a decision was taken “just like that” when Mr Modi scrapped Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes on November 8. ..." "...Another important thing he revealed was how he actually worked. Mr Modi said he doesn’t read files. This I found to be unusual in someone who is so decisive because one needs full control over the subject if one is eager to take big decisions. But Mr Modi says he cannot govern through “academics studies (sic)” and instead asks his officers to summarise all issues for him, and brief him orally. They are expected to go through the file and tell him, as he put it, “yeh masla hai kya”. He said he had the capacity to figure out the delicate contours of these issues without actually reading about them. He said this is because “mera itna grasping tha”. ..."

ybrao-a-donkey's views which are not intended to be imposed on Readers

This practice of PM's signing files on the basis of 'oral summaries' made by his Assisting Officers, after asking 'yeh masla kyA hai' seems to be a very dangerous practice. Nor that a Superior should suspect everything which his Subordinates bring for signing, but we have to keep in mind that Subordinates can also make mistakes or even blunders. Or else, there should be no need need of concentrating all the Powers in the Prime Minister.

Mr. Rahul Gandhi also appears to be a less serious person uninterested in Principles of Economics. Obviously, he seems to depend for his activities and speeches on the persons surrounding him.

Question: Do you mean to say that Mr. Manmohan Singh was surrounded by novices in Economics?

Ans: Definitely not. I mean to say that Economic Advisers of Indian Prime Ministers (probably Prime Ministers of many underdeveloped and developing countries of the World) are surrounded by IMF-World Bank-WTO and Schools of Euro-centric Economics/University trained Economists, who have not only pro-industrial bias, pro-Multi-National bias and skewness, but also seem to suffer from an un-self-controllable itches to enforce what they learn in those Institutions and Organisations.

On the other hand, most politicians of Developing and Underdeveloped countries (with the exception of Advisers to and Executives of, Dictatorial regimes) face a need to continuously tune themselves to the needs of Poverty-stricken and Sop-craving Voter-classes feeding which requires Welfare Economics.

Question: What is that you are upto? Are you confused?

Ans: There is no confusion. These subjects under our discussion are very wide, and hence some cramming seems to take place, when I try to compress into space of one blog post page, or a few blog post pages.

We started this Blog Post with the links of criticism made by Mr. Narendra Modi and Mr. Arun Jaitley about falling Rupee, and Increase in Petroleum Prices. One important feature which we cannot omit to notice here is: Should Opposition Party politicians before making scathing criticism(s) against Ruling Parties and Governments, think ahead of the times when they will come into Power, and will have to adopt the same policies, because the Economic Philosophies of all the Rightist, Centrist, Centrist-Left Parties are nearly same, notwithstanding their occasional electoral postures and position-ings?

This is important because Mr. Rahul Gandhi is hammering the BJP day-in and day-out about the undue benefits given by Modi's Government to an Immature and Un-qualified Company of Mr Anil Ambani. We must keep in mind that Mr. Rahul Gandhi (or whoever else such as Ms. Mamta Banerjee's Front, X's Front, Y's Front with support from Mainstream Parties) are going to continue the same Economic Policies of Mr. Narendra Modi and Jaitley. That means, whichever Party/Leader comes into power in 2019 will have to / will continue the Rafael Supply Contract, together with its Anil Ambani component. We must remember, at least, as far as making / servicing of Fighter Aircrafts are concerned, the opportunities of HAL (Hindusthan Aeronautics Ltd. the Cinderella Govt. Company) seem to be sealed.

This is because, except in situations of compelling circumstances, Governments globally have a commitment to honor International Agreements entered into by Previous Governments. This cannot be ignored by Politicians, Top Bureaucrats and Advisers-to-politicians-and-Top-Bureaucrats, fortunately for them because, Public Memory and Voter Memories are poor.

Question: Do you mean to say that Newly Succeeding Governments who follow rotten Regimes cannot / should not have a leeway to adopt Innovative Policies to reverse the Decay which has set in?

Ans: If a Newly succeeding Government which initiates sweeping Reforms , if it believes that it is overburdened with international debt, and obligations arising from commitments made to Foreign Investors, try to postpone or avoid honoring such international obligations, there may arise a risk of losing International Credibility. For this reason only, Governments in some countries have a system whereby they may require every major International Agreement and Policy change to be placed before their Parliaments and get them ratified with appropriate majority.

In International Economic Arena, the Issues of- Countries defaulting in their International Economic Obligations are usually classified under "Sovereign Risks", "Country Risks", and obviously they become Political Risks. On the other hand, individual Parties such as Corporates and Industrial Giants, when they default in honoring their payment and performance obligations, risks arising from such defaults, come under Commercial Risks.

Ordinarily Commercial Risks seem to arise from Political Risks, though vice versa cannot be ruled out. Besides, Political Risks can also arise from Commercial Needs and Pressures of Corporates.

Question: How will you explain all these things, in the context of your avowed objective of spreading Atheism and Marxism (or Modified Marxism/True Total Socialism)?

Ans: Apart from viewing porno videos, probably as a part of their Sexual Education (Not the Science of Sexual Hygiene or Behaviors), every denizen of World Working Class, has to study some Patho Physiology, some Pharmacology, and in addition, some Poverty Economics and Exploitation Economics. Poverty stricken and Exploited Working Classes have a long way to go. Then only, they will be able elect their Representatives who will not only have honesty, but also Competence.

Incomplete. Shall complete and reedit shortly.

1006 Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Shri Arun Jaitley, Swami Vivekananda, Great People seem to think alike!

Great People seem to think alike!!! Shri Venkaiah Naidu, India's Information & Broadcasting Minister, Urban Development Minister, Shri Arun Jaitley, India's Finance Minister, and Swami Vivekananda, the Idol of our BJP leaders, all Great Persons, seem to think alike. Context: 1) Ceaseless suicides of Farmers, drowned in indebtedness, harassed by private money lenders. 2) Electoral compulsions of Political Parties in various States of India, to offer Bank Agricultural Loan Waivers, in spite of their own lack of sincerity, and several other hurdles. Farmer suicides are not new in India. They were there since the ancient times. Example: In the 15th Century Medieval India, Telugu States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the Great Telugu Poet Srinatha though exactly did not commit suicide, passed away only because of his inability to endure the tortures indicted by the then Gajapati Rulers in an attempt to extract State Taxes from him, which he could not repay as his crops at Boddupalli Village on the banks of Krishna River were lost owing to funds. Believed to be the Greatest of the Trio (Vivekananda, Jaitley, and Venkaiah Naidu), we shall start with Swami Vivekananda, towards the problems of peasants:--

This quote is from the Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda. Correctness, can be verified by Google-ing. The following paragraph of his letter dated Feb. 21, 1900 to Swami Akhandananda, his brother-disciple, from California, USA gives an indication about his approach to problems of the peasants and workers.
"... The moment they will come to understand their own condition and feel the necessity of help and improvement, know that your work is taking effect and is in the right direction, while the little good that the moneyed classes, out of pity, do to the poor, does not last, and ultimately it does nothing but harm to both parties. The peasants and labouring classes are in a moribund condition, so what is needed is that the moneyed people will only help them to regain their vitality, and nothing more. Then leave the peasants and labourers to look to their own problem, to grapple with and solve it. But then you must take care not to set up class-strife between the poor peasants, the labouring people, and wealthy classes. Make it a point not to abuse the moneyed classes. " — The wise man should achieve his own object. ... "

ybrao-a-donkey's personal humble view, not intended to be imposed on others: So, Swami Vivekananda was a wise man, who knew how to achieve his own object.

How our Great Leader, and the Right Hand of our Greatest Leader Shri Narendra Modi, PMOI, speaks:

From the linked news report: Click to go to http://www.firstpost.com/business/memo-to-venkaiah-naidu-loan-waiver-didnt-become-a-fashion-overnight-centre-must-share-the-blame-too-3734329.html. Date: 22nd June 2017. I shall quote from the News Report:-
"...Loan waiver has become fashion now. It should be waived but in extreme situations only. It’s not a final solution. You have to take care of systems. The farmers should be taken care in distress. ..."

yb-a-donkey:Fashion or not, something is better than nothing. At least some needy farmers, though every beneficiary may not be a deserving farmer, will get some amelioration from loan waivers. Loan Waivers are like balm/salve/ointments, where kAya kalpa cikitsa i.e. a deep-rooted surgical-procedure is needed. True, loan waivers are not final solutions. But, our Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi himself, during the 2017 season, initiated these waivers, to win the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017. Loan Waivers take care of only "Institutional Borrowings" of farmers. But bulk of the borrowings by farmers are from Private Money Lenders who abuse the farmers and abet/instigate them to commit suicides. Besides, bulk of Indian farmers are 'oral tenants' i.e. they do not own lands in their own name, nor do they have written Lease Agreements. Hence, they do not get Institutional Loans for which Waivers are made. Absentee Landlords who lease out their lands to 'oral tenants' hold the Loan Pass Books, Title Deeds, etc.,and they draw the Institutional Loans. They benefit from Farm Loan Waivers. They re-lend the institutional loans they get, to oral tenant farmers at commercial and usurious rates of interest. Some of these Private Money Lendors happen to be Village serpanches, Legislators, M.Ps. and Big Business Persons, though they may not be as rich as Ambanis and Adanis. The Private Money Lenders may sometimes incite and exacerbate the farmers' demands for loan waivers. This is because, while the oral tenant farmers receive the baton-blows and police bullets, the Money Lenders get Institutional Loan Waivers.

What did our Mr. Arun Jaitley say about loan waivers?

779 Musings on the advice of Mr. Subramanian Swamy to BJP Leadership about Indian Ministers wearing suits and looking like WAITERS, and Robert Vadras response to it

Mr. Subramanian Swamy is reported to have tweeted: "...BJP should direct our Ministers to wear traditional and modernised Indian clothes while abroad. In coat and tie they look like waiters. — Subramanian Swamy (@Swamy39) June 24, 2016". A reply for this atrocious tweet has come from an unexpected quarters, Mr. Robert Vadra, the son-in-law of Ms. Sonia Gandhi, Congress President, and the De-facto Ruler of India 2004-2014. Reply: "...So is there no dignity in being a Waiter ?! The attention seeking BJP MP Swamy's comment "Ministers who wear a coat and tie “look like waiters” and must be instructed to wear Indian clothes." Undermining waiters who work hard for a living; making condescending and derogatory remarks about them is deplorable and classist...

Now, it is the turn of Mr. Subramanian Swamy to wield his sword of words:

"People giving me unasked for advice of discipline and restraint don't realise that if I disregard discipline there would be a bloodbath."

I said I am the most disciplined person. If I was indisciplined, there would not be what they called as bloodshed. Bloodshed did not mean blood spilling. Bloodshed means there will be chaos. And I said that because I am disciplined, nothing of that kind happened,

"... I think Mr.Vadra should concentrate on staying out of jail and not comment on political issues: Subramanian Swamy pic.twitter.com/Lq3GWh5nDN. ... — ANI (@ANI_news) June 25, 2016".

Here is a link for those who wish to study this exchange of dialogues between Mr. Subramanian Swamy and Mr. Robert Vadra. Click to go to Firstpost.com, to study their report.

According to the FirstPost's web page linked above, Mr. Swamy's tweet apparently intended a reference to Mr. Arun Jaitley's wearing a lounge suit when he met in China, Bank of China's Chairman Tian Guoli. Mr. Swamy's advice is to BJP's Leaders.

Later, Mr. Swamy praised the dress of Mr. Arun Jaitley. It may be some reconciling exercise.

WHY DID IT PROBABLY HURT MR. ROBERT VADRA?

It seems that Mr. Robert Vadra's Mother had worked as a Waitress in Italy in the past.

Besides, Mr. Swamy has made allegations of corruption against Mr. Robert Vadra, saying

"... Vadra made a lot of money, it is called the Vadra school of management, but the dean of that school was (Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh) Hooda. He has to be prosecuted under Prevention of Corruption Act. ..."

The alert caution given by Mr. Swamy to Mr. Vadra "I think Mr.Vadra should concentrate on staying out of jail" is referring to the allegations of his fraudulent land deals in Hariyana and Rajasthan. This caution is somewhat acerbic.

Thus, Mr. Swamy's comments seem to be hurling stones against everybody at random, and sometimes deliberate against selected individuals. Anyway he is very active since the 2014 victory of BJP, like a tiger on a prowl.

Many people love wearing impressive dresses, sometimes to boost the personal image of themselves within themselves (like that when a person looks into a mirror and congratulates himself), and sometimes to impress others. As the practice is universal, it is difficult to regard it as something totally undesirable.

In the early days of his annointment to the Crown of India, Mr. Narendra Modi- PM of India, also showed a penchant to wear suits.

ybrao-a-donkey's humble comments. You have every right to differ with me. I respect your right. Mr. Subramanian Swamy seems to have nursed a desire to become Finance Minister in the Cabinet of Mr. Narendra Modi, probably in 2014 itself. Of course, in spite of his maverick methods and weirdo ways, afterall, like Mr. Raghuram Rajan, Mr. Swamy is also a Professor, and an Economist of Harvard Recognition. If at all he has nursed such ambition or desire or wish, there is nothing wrong in it, anyway I am not here to pass value judgements. But, somehow, Mr. Narendra Modi preferred Mr. Arun Jaitley as Finance Minister, a Lawyer by Profession.

BRIEF COMPARISON OF MR. JAITLEY AND MR. SWAMY

A comparison of Mr. Arun Jaitley and Mr. Subramanian Swamy may need a 100 pages to write about. Prima facie, it appears that Mr. Arun Jaitley is a successful Supreme Court lawyer, is professionally a pecuniary-conquerer in the context of the 21st Century Values, and financially a business-moolah earner, practical-and-pragmatic professional owing to overexposure to Indian Business, Corporate and Legal Environment, whereas Mr. Subramanian Swamy is a scholarly-professor (I do not want to call him pedantic which is a derogatory adjective) knowledgeable person, with a legal bent of mind arguing his own cases, but apparently he is not a business-man running businesses, acquiring gold, real estate etc. His wealth might have been based either his family-inheritances or his wife-herself-a-Supreme-Court Advocate's acquisitions. What I mean to say is, that Mr. Swamy may not have a money-earning bent of mind , which seems to be a prerequisite for a Finance Minister of Capitalist Environments. At the same time, he is not a Sanyasi or Muni. Mr. Swamy seems to be a bird of DIFFERENT FEATHERS, distinct FROM THE FEATHERS OF Mr. Narendra Modi or Mr. Arun Jaitely. Nevertheless, like Mr. Jaitley, he too seems to have Corporate Links and Corporate Support, though may not be on the same magnitude and scale as Mr. Jaitley.

Question: Why Mr. Modi did not take Mr. Swamy into Cabinet in 2014, and entrusted him some other Ministry, if not Finance. Why did he entrust it to a novice like Ms. Sitaraman? Will he take Mr. Swamy into Cabinet now?

Ans: Vajpayee, our First BJP Prime Minister, took Mr. Swamy into his 1999-2004 Cabinet, and gave him Commerce Ministry. Mr. Narendra Mody too ought to have done a similar thing in 2014. But, Mr. Narendra Modi seems to have some marked preferences for novices like Ms. Sitaraman, Ms. Smriti Irani, when compared to Seniors like Mr. Swamy, Mr. Arun Shourie et al., because Seniors may have "their own views" and their own "self-esteem". They may not show obedience of required magnitude. About Mr. Modi taking Mr. Swami into Cabinet now: Mr. Modi's advisers i.e. Mr. Arun Jaitley, Mr. Ameet Shaw, Mr. Mohan Bhagavat RSS Chief, may have to give green signal. The green signal may come,or may not come.

Like Mr. Raghuram Rajan, Mr. Arvind Subramanian,-- Mr. Subramanian Swamy is also a bourgeoisie economist of the Harvard, IMF and London Schools. As already pointed out in our blogpost No. 776 Click to read 776, these are all only bourgeoisie fibs and fisticuffs. We need not bother about them much. We have to focus more on Socialist Economics, and Socialist Economists (that tribe is too small).

For those who wish to read about Prof. Subramanian Swamy's wish, here is an interview: Click here if you wish to study Mr. Swamy's Interview to TelegraphIndia.com at their website.

Mr. Narendra Modi is very fond of wearing dresses, head-gear, hats, turbans, suits, coats, kurtas. The criticism which Mr. Narendra Modi received, when he appeared in a very expensive suit gifted to him by his one of his admirers , -- on the occasion of his welcoming U.S. President Barack Obama in Delhi, has made him to shed the suit, get it auctioned, and money donated for charity. But his tryst with great-expensive-dressing continues, notwithstanding his chaiwallah background, in spite of his displayed affinity to the renunciation of Swami Vivekananda. Apart from self-declared renunciations, they have the common factor of love for coats, though Vivekananda was addicted to cigars, while Mr. Narendra Modi is not. Vivekananda was a fan of non-vegetarian food, while Mr. Modi displays his love for vegetarian food.

Now, Prof. Subramanian Swamy has to clarify whether his preaching "...BJP should direct our Ministers to wear traditional and modernised Indian clothes while abroad. In coat and tie they look like waiters. — Subramanian Swamy (@Swamy39) June 24, 2016" will apply to Mr. Narendra Modi also?

In all fairness to Mr. Swamy, whatever be his other strengths and weaknesses, he is prima facie, reasonably meticulous about his wearing INdian style dresses. I am unable to trace even a single photo on internet which shows Mr. Swamy in his Western Suit. However, like most political leaders of India, he too seems to be very particular in appearing as an IMPECCABLY DRESSED PERSON. Though Swami Vivekananda was credited with a repartee of conversation whereby he highlighted the importance of character, when compared to dress--

“Can't you wear proper clothes to look like a gentleman?”

Swami Vivekananda smiled and said, “In your culture, a tailor makes a gentleman; but, in our culture, Character makes gentleman.”

--Swami Vivekananda too, while in United States and Europe spent money and time on impeccable dressing. (Mahatma Gandhi and Tanguturi Prakasam seem to have reversed this trend in India).

We shall now go back to the end-19th Century years of United States and Swami vivEkAnanda. Swamiji wrote to Alasinga from Metclaff, Mass. on 20.8.1893:
From this village I am going to Boston tomorrow. I am going to speak at a big Ladies' Club here, which is helping Ramabai. I must first go and buy some clothing in Boston. If I am to live longer here, my quaint dress will not do. People gather by hundreds in the streets to see me. So what I want is to dress myself in a long black coat, and keep a red robe and turban to wear when I lecture. This is what the ladies advise me to do, and they are the rulers here, and I must have their sympathy. Before you get this letter my money would come down to somewhat about £70 of £60. So try your best to send some money. It is necessary to remain here for some time to have any influence here.

In the same letter quote:

"...Just now I have been to the tailor and ordered some winter clothings, and that would cost at least Rs. 300 and up. And still it would not be good clothes, only decent. Ladies here are very particular about a man's dress, and they are the power in this country...."

By the 1893 price levels, a sum of Rs. 300 and up must have been very high for vivEkAnanda's fancy and alasinga's back (because he had to send the money to vivEkAnanda). Poor alasinga had to bear this burden, because he had to enable vivEkAnanda to have influence with the American big ladies, who advise him to wear what and win their sympathies. alasinga should save vivEkAnanda from looking queer. Can't a monk have courage to face crowds? Ans: An ascetic or monk should not be afraid of looking queer or unnatural. Whatever way the onlookers may see him or mock at him, a true ascetic will not take their actions and reactions into cognizance.

It is worth quoting bhartruhari here, the great poet of the first millennium India gave birth to:
Sanskrit: camd`aaloo kim ayam? dvijaatir athavaa s`uudroo atha? kim taapasaha?
kim vaa tattva viveeka pees`ala matir yogiis`varaha koo api kim?
iti utpanna vikalpa jalpa mukharair aabhaashyamaan`aa janair
na kruddhaupathi naiva tusht`a manasoo yaanti svayam yoginaha .96

English: Those who see the ascetic on the path, will be wondering who this person is! Is he an outcast? Is he a Priest? Is he of a low caste? A person doing penance? A scholarly saint who can distinguish between strains of principles of philosophy? Who ever he is? The passersby will be estimating and commenting about him. But the ascetic himself will not get irritated and in a contented and serine mode he proceeds. (vairAgya Satakam verse No. 96.)

SOMETHING YBRAO-A-DONKEY'S PERSONAL (autobiographical)

Sorry for writing personal stuff. But, the initial purpose of blogs in their early days was to write about personal web-logs, a sort of personal diaries. Gradually, the element of personal experiences vanished from the scene. May be because, blog-writers felt "Who will read your personal fetishes, unless you are a celebrity film-star, Head of a State or Head of a Government or some billionnaire?".

I am writing something personal, whatever it is worth for. In 1976 while working in a Bank, I was preparing for a job-promotion interview. My office colleagues and my immediate superior-bosses advised me to attend the job-interview in a suit. The general impression prevailing then was that impeccable dress is important in job interviews. According to them, it creates a good first impression.

In my life till then (1950/1-1976), I did never wear a suit, or tie or shoes. From 1950 to 1968 I was without any footwear, walking with bare feet even in hot summer or on thorny paths. My family could not afford to buy comforts or luxuries like chappals, not to write of school shoes. About these things, some other day, in some other blog post, I shall write separately.

I was unwilling to buy ties and suits just for the sake of two interviews. Nor there was time to get suits stitched (in those days readymade suits were not so much popular). My uncle borrowed a suit from a colleague of his, and helped me, teaching me to wear a tie and the coat.

I appeared the two job-interviews in suit, with a tie around my neck like vAsuki around Lord Shiva (sorry for an audacious and arrogant simile). In one interview, I failed because my job-knowledge was poor. I could not reply anything satisfactorily. Besides, suit was suffocating me, though there was A/C in the interview room.

In the second interview too, I failed because I had an argument with the Head of the Interviewing board and others, about Socialism and Rural Poverty. At that time, I was immature, emotionally, and not a practical person (even now, presumably I am not a practical person). It was my natural trait to argue on socio-economic issues even with slightest provocation and stimulus. Another observation: The top-boss heading the interview board was wearing a open-shirt of short-sleeves, while I was suffocating in borrowed suit. This made me nervous, and self-introspective, disjoined my chain of thoughts.

So, thus, the suit did not help in both the instances. Impressions created by "suits" and "impeccable dresses" are not substitutes for ESSENTIALS to fulfil any task. Next year, I again succeeded in written tests, and appeared another interview in my shabby dress, but with improved job-knowledge, control of emotions. Succeeded, notwithstanding shabby dress. Subsequently, even after becoming an Officer, I have never bought, borrowed or worn a tie or a suit or shoes.

HOW TRADE UNIONS AND WORKERS' ASSOCIATIONS CAN INFLUENCE BEHAVIORS OF MEMBERS

In our Bank, in 1970's, Officers used to wear ties regularly and routinely. In addition to that, they used to store COATS in Office cupboard, and when they were called by top-bosses on any work, they used to take out the coats from cupboards, wear the coats, and then only enter the Chambers of the top-bosses.

In one particular year, their Association gave a call of Non-Cooperation, and advised its members to temporarily stop wearing ties and suits, during the currency of their agitation.

The members stopped wearing suits and ties permanently, even while entering into the rooms of top-bosses.
CONCLUSION

Whatever we do externally (conversations, dresses, etiquette, feasting, hosting, etc. etc.) to impress others and bring them into a favourable disposition towards us, the end result will depend on circumstances, environment, situations, numerous other deciding factors, relating to both us and them. Mr. Narendra Modi and Mr. Xi Jinping sat and swang in a swing, in a friendly mode. But, DID IT DETER Mr. Xi Jinping from blocking the entry of India into NSG Group, quoting some rule!! It did not deter, because they are ALL trivial, when it comes to BUSINESSLIKE BEHAVIORS of individuals, Corporates and Organisations, and Heads of Nations and Governments. This is a world of Lucre!

So, what is the use of Mr. Subramanian Swamy bringing in the issue of "WAITERS" into picture, and make them a subject of comparison, to BJP Ministers visiting abroad and trying to impress their foreign hosts?

It is hightime that Prof. Subramanian Swamy recognises the dignity of labor of WAITERS and stop making comparisons which insult them.

When an intellectual upgradation of Proletariat (Working Class) takes place-- this is a dream, I hope that Professors will also be given a few hours of physical labor every day, working inter-alia as WAITERS, COOKS, AND DISH-CLEANERS. They can be given a three hour duty of cooking in Community Kitchens, and serving in Community Hostels, while reducing their LECTURING TIME.

732 Part 2/100 of India's Economic Growth Dilemmas and Enigmas

Mr. Raghuram Rajan, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, has tried to minimise the damage of, or neutalise criticism against his comment made in United States, "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king". For that we have alrady written one blog post Problemsoftelugus post No.724 , wherein we have observed that India is not one eyed king, but is a King of Frogs. We shall, now continue, after noting down more observations of Shri Raghuram Rajan, about his one-eyed man is king comment:

"...My intent was to signal that India’s outperformance was accentuated because world growth was weak. ...".

"...I think we have still to get to a place where we feel satisfied. We have this saying - 'In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king'. We are a little bit that way. ..."

"...Speaking to a foreign journalist the other day, who asked what it felt like to be the bright spot in the world economy, I used the phrase 'Andhon mein kana raja' or 'In the Land of the Blind, the one-eyed man is king'...My intent was to signal that our outperformance was accentuated because world growth was weak, but we in India were still hungry for more growth. ..."

"...India’s international reputation is of a country with great promise, which has under-delivered in the past. This is why we are still the poorest country on a per capita basis among the BRICS. ..."

"...An eye for an eye will only make the whole world go blind. ... it was clear what it implied, that the whole world going blind is not a desirable state of affairs.

"... One might take umbrage since it suggests blindness is an inferior state to that of being able to see, and the saying could be seen as discriminatory. Yet Gandhiji’s focus was on the absurdity of a policy of revenge, not on blindness, and his intent was not to disparage the blind. ... "

"...At the same time, listeners should not look for insults everywhere, and should place words in context so as to understand intent. In other words, for effective communication and debate, rather than the angry exchanges that we see on some TV shows, we need both respect and tolerance. ..."

"...The greatest danger of all is that we do not communicate or debate, for then we will allow distorted stereotypes to flourish unchallenged, and divisiveness to increase. In a country like ours, conceived and flourishing in diversity, that will truly be a disaster. ..."

This "King of Frogs" episode started in 1991, when Mr. P.V. Narasimha Rao, was the Prime Minister of India and when Mr. Manmohan Singh was India's Finance Minister.

Late Mr. Chandrasekhar was dethroned, when support was withdrawn by Indian National Congress. Fresh elections were held to Lower House of Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha). Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, the Former Prime Minister of India was assassinated at Sriperumbudur. In that milieu, Mr. Narasima Rao became the PM of India, and Mr. Manmohan Singh, the India's Finance Minister.

At that particular point of time (1991), India was facing a grave Foreign Exchange Reserve Crisis. The predecessor Chandra Sekhar Government was forced to export Indian gold to London, and mortgage it to tide over an import payments and debt service crisis.

Amidst that environment, it was difficult to say, whether India was caught in a debt-trap or not. Reasons: India traditionally relied on soft loan windows like I.D.A. which had long repayment schedules with only some minuscule service charge to pay.

Later, it shifted to borrowing from World Bank, with Medium Term Repayment Schedules. With the World Bank Borrowings, we inherited hidden controls in the name of Supervision of End Use. Yet, India was nowhere near an external debt trap. We were still treading a safe-course, though we have lost a part of economic sovereignty.

For those who are not familiar with the term debt-trap: The term can apply to individuals, families, Corporates and Conglommerates, even Nations. It is a situation where an entity has to contract fresh loans to repay instalments of old loans.

Then the next stage came. India started borrowing from IMF (International Monetary Fund) to overcome short term payment difficulties. The IMF had its own ARM-TWISTING TACTICS. Its diagnostic weapon was / is "STRUCTURAL MAL-ADJUSTMENTS IN ECONOMY". IMF used to brainwash countries that their payment difficulties were due to their inability to export on account of domestic inflation, and over-valuation of their currencies. In the name of rectifying this structural disequilibrium, India like other countries borrowing from IMF, was forced to devalue its Currency Indian Rupee many times.

For the benefit of those who are not familiar with Structural Disequilibrium: This theory survives on a belief that domestic inflation makes the exports of the country un-competitive, and that countries have to slash their budget deficits, remove subsidies, so as to control domestic inflation. But India's inflation is caused more by population growth and blackmarketing bazars, rather than by deficit budgets, though theoretically deficit budgets, and higher domestic interest rates, can also contribute to domestic inflation.

In reality, Structural Disequilibrium may be one of the reasons for India's weakness to raise its exports, there were other stronger reasons for stagnation of Indian exports such as the games played by the United States and the Western Europe, competition among agricultural, mining, and other primary goods exporting countries to capture the markets of the Developed countries.

Then, the next stage came. India started borrowing short term loans at Commercial Rates of interest, from international markets. This despite knowing that borrowing short term at high rates of interest can be extremely dangerous for a weak economy. India could not avoid it because the Government was under pressure from Private Sector importers who were on a borrowing spree. (Besides, there was also a need to purchase weapons. Yet, I am unable to trace any instance where Indian Public Sector Undertakings borrowed heavily, short-or-medium term, at Commercial Rates.), PSU imports, I can say with confidence, were never for unproductive purposes, unlike private sector imports, which tend to be "fanciful" to serve the tastes of industrialists and celebrities.

Back to 1991:-- The-then Prime Minister of India Mr. Narasimha Rao was a linguist. He was an intellectual. He had a reputation of knowing 18 languages. I had the fortune of reading one of his Telugu-to-Hindi translation of the voluminous Telugu Novel 'vEyi paDagalu' (English: A thousand hoods of a Divine-Serpant), with the title "sahasra phaN". He was well-known for his stiff-lips and mummy like silences. Even silence was regarded as "decision-making" in his days. May be true sometimes. Mr. Narendra Modi, now, partly emulates.

Difference between Mr. Modi and Mr. Narasimha Rao, with regard to silence:

Mr. Narasimha Rao, was by his very nature a calm and silent person.

Mr. Modi, by his nature, a flamboyant person, but maintains silence, when it is not politically convenient for him to speak. It is a sort of cunningness. Anyway, like Mr. Narasimha Rao, Mr. Modi too may not know much about the intricacies of Exchange Rate Management, External Debt Management. Mr. Modi shouts at the top of his voice, when he believes that it brings him some claps, some Face Book likes, Twitter likes, and of course, thousands of votes.

Whenever, I get a few minutes time to ponder over or muse, I pray the non-existing God, that he will please motivate Mr. Narendra Modi to spend a few minutes every day, on studies of Internatinal Economics, Balance of Trade Management, Balance of Payment Management, Devaluation of Rupee, Exchange Rate Management by RBI, Exchange Reserve Management by RBI. Reason: A PM cannot totally abandon these things to the Finance Minister, Finance Secretary and the RBI Governor. PMs can delegate the tasks of posturing for Selfies to others who have less serious work to attend to.

On the other hand Mr. Narasimha Rao was scholarly (at least superficially). It is difficult to compare great persons. I always wondered, if Mr. Narasimha Rao were a true scholar, he would not have remained so long like a slave in a dynastic Party like Congress, till Ms. Sonia Gandhi virtually drove him out. After all, there is a maxim that Politics is the last resort for scoundrels. Not that Mr. Narasimha Rao was scoundrel, but politics whether it is a place for scoundrels or not, it cannot be a place for scholars. There was a Rs. 133 crore (1.3 billion) Urea Import Advance Payment Scam for which no goods entered into India during Mr. Narasimha Rao's tenure, and there were allegations that his sons were linked to it. There were some other allegations against him such as Purchase of Parliament Members, which do not add to his stature as a Scholar-Politician.

We can take another example of a scholar-like person , Mr. Veerappa Moily. He is reported to have written a commentary on Valmiki Ramayana. I envied his erudition and hard work. But, later some allegations came out that Mr. Moily plagiarised parts of his books. I am too small to comment on this.

Considering Late Mr. Narasimha Rao as a Linguist, I was never able to convince myself that Indian Economic Reforms were an offshoot of his brain-wave. For his Crisis Management of the Payment Crisis, he seems to have depended on Mr. Manmohan Singh for guidance. Hence, the credit or notoriety for introducing Economic Reforms should go to Mr. Manmohan Singh. This curse of mine of his starting the Dynasty of Frog-Kings, should rightly go to Mr. Manmohan Singh. The dynasty is continuing along the lines of the Finance Ministers of India, right upto Mr. Arun Jaitley.

Now, the King of the Frogs story:- In a Frogs Kingdom, there used to be a King. Near the kingdom, there used to be a snake. Hunting a frog everyday for its food, the snake thought laborious. The snake worked out a plot in its mind, went to the frog and volunteered to carry it over its shoulders. Without any foresight, the frog-king accepted the joy-rides on the back of the snake. Not only did the frog rode on the back of the snake, it also invited its queens, princes, and princesses. to share the joy-ride. After a few days, the snake started pretending to be weak, unable to move. Finding the snake sick, the frog-king asked for reasons. The snake replied "As I was carrying you all the time, I could not get gather food, and I am suffering from hunger and malnutrition. The frog-king took kindly to the snake, and permitted to catch and eat one frog per day in his kingdom.

The snake initially for a few weeks, adhered to the ond-frog-a-day limit. Later, the snake, without the knowledge of the frog-king surreptitiously devoured many frogs every day, of course, without touching the King, Queens, Princes, and the Princesses.

After all the frogs are finished, the snake swallowed the King-frog, Queens, Prince, and Princesses also.

India has a peculiar quality which very few Nations around the Globe have. That is: Indian refuses to learn from history. In 1498, King of Calicut Jamorin permitted Vasco De Gama to raise a Camp on Kerala Coast. Vijayanagara Kings bought horses from the Portueguese and permitted them to occupy Goa. Around 1605 CE, Mogul Emperor Jagangir tempted by the British Traders, permitted them to build a Warehouse at Surat. Shajahan and Aurangzeb to followed suit. Vijayanagara-Chandragiri King Venkatapati Rayalu permitted British to build St. George Fort at Chennai. While the joy rides were continuing, the Europeans occupied India. Rest is history.

The same story started again in 1991. In the name of Economic Reforms, LPG (Liberalisation, Privatisation, Globalisation), Government of India opened up its gates to reckless imports, and foreign investments. Govt. lands were distributed gratis, or at throwaway prices, or on long term lease to the MNCs in the name of Special Economic Zones, etc. Tax concessions and waivers were allowed. Customs and Excise Duties were slashed. FERA Foreign Exchange Regulation Act 1973 was substituted by FEMA, Foreign Exchange Management Act.

Earlier when the Govt. contracted external debt, it was not expected to give tax concessions or lift import gates. Today, in spite of numerous tax concessions, slashing of import duties, foreign investments are not forthcoming at the expected scale. Promoters of some Corporate bodies window-dressed their balance-sheets, made false claims of their production, sales and profits, and lured foreign investors to purchase their worthless shares at high prices. Computer algorithms used by foreign institutional investor consultant firms know little about the factual positions prevailing in factories, and they know only figures and data which were cooked up by promoters of Companies. Thus while gullible foreign investors invested in useless Companies, intelligent foreign institutional investors cornered Companies which have huge real estates and lands.

Today, if somebody takes pains, to compile actual field level data, consolidate them and present on their website, we can know the extent to which India has been colonialised by the European and American Companies. Though they may not be participating directly in the Management of the Companies in which they hold substantial shareholdings, they may have already started influencing the purchase and investment decisions of those Companies.

In India, in respect of widely held Companies, where there will be hundreds of thousands of small shareholders spread all over the vast country, a foreign investor who just holds only 20% of shares of a Company can take over management of the Company, with or without the concurrence of the promoters of the Company who were the Indian collaborators of the foreign investors.

Question: How a Foreign Institutional Investor, or even a Foreign Individual Investor, holding a sizable bunch of shares in a Company can influence its purchase decisions?

Answer: We shall take up the case of an Automobile Company. When the Indian Company had no foreign shareholdings, it could procure bulk of its raw material and component requirements locally within the country. Now, the Foreign Institutional Investor with sizable share holdings can arm-twist the Board of Directors / Promoters to import raw materials, components from abroad at exhorbitant prices, or paying royalties. The Foreign Institutional Investor can also influence Marketing and Export decisions of the Company, and tune them to the foreign body's advantage.

While India now makes a facade of having got out of external debt trap, because it could building substantial foreign exchange reserves received through inward foreign investments, the country is caught in a Foreign Investment Trap. In this Foreign Investment Trap, the country has to continuously mobilise foreign investments, if it is to maintain its equilibrium. Reason: India neglected its Balance of Trade Adversity. India faces an extremely dangerous balance of trade deficit. India's exports, particularly exports from Manufacturing Sector are not rising.

India's agricultural exports cannot be depended upon for their consistency. Reason: Uncertainties of monsoons. Domestic shortages owing to uncontrolled population growth. More mouths to feed. Productive Agricultural lands are being converted into vacant house sites, on which neither cultivation takes place, nor houses built.

We neglected , and are neglecting our cottage and small scale industries, which used to shoulder most of our export targets. Large Industrial Houses, experience shows, have very poor export performance. On the other hand, they guzzle our foreign exchange resources through reckless imports. They are like Miss India, Miss Asia, Miss Universe, Miss World Title Holders. They are good for nothing, except as show pieces. Our saviors were always cottage, small scale, tiny and medium industries, whom we treat as cinderella.

In spite of my best efforts, my blog posts are being pulled towards more religious matters, whereas I intend to write more on our ECONOMICS and FINANCE. They are the top priority not only of India, but also of the World. However, I shall complete the ten parts series I have undertaken to write about the review of the Lecture of Shri V.V. Lakshmi Narayana, Additional A.D.G.P. Maharashtra, and the Former CBI JD, Hyderabad, about producing hundreds / thousands / hundreds of thousands of Swami Vivekananda-s in India. Then, we have to write a 100 posts about Indian Judicial Systems and Practices. Are our hands are not full?

724 Part 1/100 of India's Economic Dilemmas and Enigmas

Mr. Arun Jaitley, Finance Minister of India, is said to have commented that India may grow faster than 7.5 per cent GDP growth rate it recorded last year, if predictions of above-average monsoon rainfall come true. He is reported to have made this optimistic statement, speaking on the theme of ‘Steering India towards Growth’ at an event organised by Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, at Washington on 14th April 2016. Here is one such quote:-

"...If the predictions of good monsoon were to come true, we are capable of ... improving upon our growth rate..."

Mr. Raghu Rajan is the Governor of Reserve Bank of India. He is reported to have commented at Washington, on 16th April 2016:-

"...I think we have still to get to a place where we feel satisfied. We have this saying -- In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. We are a little bit that way. ..."

"...We feel things are turning to the point where we could achieve what we believe is our medium-run growth potential. Because things are falling into place. Investment is starting to pick up strongly. We have a fair degree of macro-stability. Of course, not immune to every shock, but immune to a fair number of shocks. ..."

"...Inflation has come down from 11 per cent to below 5 per cent, making room for interest rates to come down. ..."

1. India may not be the one eyed king. It will be unpatriotic for me, if I say that India is a blind king. If we have to use compulsorily, a better "upama alankAram" (Figure of Speech: Simile), we can call India, "A king of frogs".

Question: Who is the founder of this "King of Frogs" Dynasty?

Ans: Mr. P.V. Narasimha Rao seems to be the Founder of this King of Frogs Dynasty. It all started in 1991, when Mr. Manmohan Singh became the Finance Minister. Today, nobody remembers P.V. Narasimha Rao, probably even the people of Manthani. Hence, Mr. Manmohan Singh should be regarded as the Founder of the King of Frogs Dynasty.

Question: Mr. Singh's Dynasty should have become extinct when Mr. Vajpayee became Prime Minister in 1999.

Ans: It did not end, because Mr. Vajpayee's Finance Ministers Yashvant Singh and Jasvant Singh tried to prove themselves that they were greater kings of Frogs, when compared to Mr. Manmohan Singh.

In 2004, when Mr. Manmohan Singh became the Prime Minister again in UPA 1, the dynasty regained its past glory, and got new Assts. like Mr. Pranab Mukherjee and Mr. P. Chidambaram.

The story of "King of Frogs" मेंढक के राजा కప్పలరాజు will be told in the next blog post.

684 Costs of organising POlitical Rallies and Meetings

Mr. Amit Shah, the National President of Bharatiya Janata Party, said at Rajamahendravaram (Rajahmundry, Residual Andhra Pradesh, India) on 6th March 2016, that Congress had not done anything for INdia. It seems to be an audacious, exaggerated claim. During the last 65 years, Congress has, definitely, something for India. But it might not have been enough, both in terms of quantity or quality. Then a question arises, during its five years rule of 1999-2004, what did BJP do for India? Okay, five years is too short a time in the history of any country. We shall wait and see if BJP will do anything by 2019? Or at least by 2014? Or at least 2019?

Mr. Amit Shah has ignored the impact of population growth on the development of India. India's population was around 360 million in 1947. It is, today, around 1.3 billion. Post 1977 set back to the Indira Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi, after the latter's misadventurism and over-zealousness in incorrectly implementing the Family Planning, Governments at Centre and in States, whatever the party they may belong to, including the BJP, neglected Population Control. Consequently, whatever is produced in the country is not enough, even for domestic consumption. This resulted in slow growth of exports, leading to Balance of Trade Deficit, Balance of Payment Crises or Imbalances.

In the post Economic Reforms era, both the Congress and BJP lifted the gates for imports, removed physical controls on unnecessary imports. Besides, what we could produce within the country, we started importing from our own Friction-crazy Neighbors like China.

COSTS OF RALLIES AND MEETINGS

Mr. Amit Shah is reported to have come from Delhi to Rajahmundry on a Chartered flight. This might have cost BJP, at least something like Rs. 25,00,000/-. Saffron Party cannot behave like an Italian Dynastic Party. Are we not supposed to be monks and super-Relinquishers ! (sarva sanga parti-tyAgIs?)

According to News Reports, Party Workers were sent from Guntur to Rajahmundry in about 80 hired Buses. Assuming that the fare from Guntur to Rajahmundry is Rs. 330, to-and-from Rs. 660/-, and that a bus has 50 seats, hire for a bus comes to about Rs. 15,000/-. For 80 buses, it works out to Rs. 12,00,000/-.

Similar number of buses might have been hired from Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Eluru, Vijayavada, Ongole, Nellore, Tirupati, to Rajahmundry. What would have been the total transport costs?

How about costs of Bike Rallies?

How about costs of Lighting and Stage Arrangements, Flower Pots, Carpets, barricades.

Costs of Tiffins, meals to the Workers and Leaders?

In these days of astronomical prices, unable to bear the strains and stresses, my mind unstoppably goes into a tragectory (trajectoire, trayectoria, प्रक्षेप पथ) from Earth to Sun, like the Seeker's (sAdhaka's) Intellect climbs a trajectory across a path of Rainbow colors in Aurobindo's Magnum Opus "sAvitri". I lose my balance of my mind, in this poor country called India.

Now, there are no Elections in Andhra Pradesh. There is no urgency to come on Chartered Flights. Mr. Amit Shah could have come on a Commercial Flight. If he is too busy with his Election work in Five States, he could have sent his representative to Rajamahendravaram, for conveying PM's and his (Shah's) messages, and also to answer queries from A.P. BJP leaders. Why waste money? -- Simply, because some Industrial Tycoons उद्योग पतीयों are bearing the expenses.

There are also other dead-cheap viable alternatives like sending printed booklets, SMSes, Email Messages, Facebook Posts, apart from the most favorite of Mr. Narendra Modi-- the Twitter Tweets.

What did Mr. Amit Shaw communicate at Rajahmundry on 6th March 2016, anyway? Of course may not be cunAvi jumla.

BJP coerced Congress to perform a surgery on the United Andhra Pradesh, against the wishes of the People of Residual Andhra Pradesh, without their consent. There is an imperative need to at least partly compensate the people of Residual Andhra Pradesh for their sufferings. Last two years were wasted away both by the BJP and its partner Telugu Desam Party. The amount of Rs. 1.40 lakh crore, which Mr. Amit Shah said, that the Central Govt. has released during the year, they are the routine releases in a Dining Hall along with the other 28 States.

TAIL PIECE

As can be seen from the photos of Rajahmundry meeting in newspapers, there is a "long gap of distance" between the mike-stand before which Mr. Amit Shah is standing, and the from rows of the people who were listening to him at the Arts College Grounds, with the intervening space occupied by Green Carpet, flower pots, etc. etc.

This gap might have been kept very long, owing, probably to Z Category Security Needs. Okay. But, in the process, leaders will become inaccessible to hoi polloi.

Life risk is an occupational hazard for all politicians, just as a Cement Factory worker becomes prone to Astma. It has amply been proved in case of Late Rajiv Gandhi who lost his life in Sri Perumbudur, while trying to come closer to people. But, according to Mahabhagavata, King Parikshit tried to protect himself from Karkotaka / Takshaka by staying in an inpenetrable sealed tower. Nevertheless, the Karkotaka came in the guise of a small worm, hiding himself in a fruit brought by a Brahmin and gifted to the King. King lost his life, unable to escape death, but he went to VishNu's abode, having heard to Suka and Bhagavata Purana.

Late Ms. Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her own Trusted Body Guard in her own Residence at an internal gate.

Saffron Leaders are supposed to be greatly influenced by our Sacred books like Bhagavata PuraNa. All of us have great respect for the words of Suka. There is also the question why only Top Saffron Leaders deserve Security, and why a Grass Root BJP Worker is left in the lurch to fight with his two fists? Top Saffron Leaders can set an example, by curtailing some of their Security, even if it may mean, sacrificing their lives, if they truly believe in the Gita maxim "jAtasya maraNam dhrivam".

In any party, including Congress, it is NOT the case that Top Leaders are indispensible, whether they have trained their offsprings to take over reins immediately after their death, or not. That mundane task of Taking Over the reins, they will try to do, and the sycophant followers will compel them to do, anyway.

The Greatest wonder of this Human Civilisation and Evolution is, there will be somebody or other to take over. After 1962 and before May 1964, many people wondered, "After Nehru what? After Nehru who?", forgetting that Time and Tide wait for none. Did the Time and Tide wait?

Something personal, semi-philosophical and insignificant from ybrao-a-donkey

In my last career incarnation (in a way gata janma गत जन्म గత జన్మ ), when I retired from my Bank Job eight years ahead of its due date, knowing pretty well that there would-will be some financial loss which I felt was worth taking, with a goal of taking up my own self-set goals of spreading the messages of Atheism and Marxism, a few of my colleagues, just to console me, said "We do not bother about your personal gains or losses. By losing you, the Bank will lose something. Don't go".

I stoically replied, using a Telugu proverb: "Sata kOTi bicca gALLAlO oka bODi bochche gADu unTE nEm, pOtE nEmi? English: If among a 100 crore beggars, it will immaterial whether one beggar stays or leaves. Don't worry. It is out of your love for me, you are trying to make me happy. Unemployed persons are eagerly waiting for jobs. Nobody is indispensible. (Note: The original proverb has caste connotation. Hence I have substituted that caste word with "beggars = biccha gALLu". But, even beggars may feel hurt. Hence no injury intended to our Street beggars.

But, I use the word "beggars" with a very very broad meaning. When Mr. Narendra Modi, Mr. Arun Jaitley, Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu, numerous Central Ministers, Chief Ministers of States, go to London, Singapore, Davos, Basel, etc. with begging bowls for foreign investments, are they not beggars? In that respect, even DAvid Cameroon, Barack Obama, are beggars.

This attributive adjective Sata kOTi to beggars, refers to the population of India, which was 100 crore at that time. Now, we are 130 crore (1.3 billion). We have to change the proverb.

The idea of writing this personal experience is not for boasting. The idea is to point out the truth: "Considering the magnitude of INdia's population we are all like just 'nano's. I can't use the unParliamentary phrase "kaun-kiska goTTams" a vulgar Telugu phrase which refers to persona non grata. I have got the courage to use this now, because the American Presidential Candidates are coming out with their open pants and ******s.

Back to VVIP Love for their own Lives

Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Residual Andhra Pradesh, a deprived and impoverished State as per his own words, is reported to have spent Rs. 3.6 million for bullet-proofing his Jubilee Hills Camp in Hyderabad. As Mr. Naidu is spending most of his time in Vijayawada at Lingamaneni Estates, spending Rs. 720 million for renovating it, he ought to have gone soft on Hyderabad Camp. Mr. Naidu, occasionally promises even to sacrifice his life for the sake of the people.

The problem with my donkey's mind is, it always thinks un-naturally. Once in conversation with a Police Constable who frequently changes places in his Guard and Sentry duties, I came to know that many Superintendents of Police in States like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chattisgadh, Odissa, have a force of about 60 constables at their Residences, to save themselves from Maoists. Okay, let them have any number. But who will guard the grass-root POlice Personnel in Rural Police Stations, located at inaccessible places, infested by Maoists? This problem existed even during Mahabharata Kurukshetra Battle days. YudhishThira and SuyOdhana will be surrounded by dozens of soldiers, cavaliers, chariot-knights, archers. But who will protect the thousands of common soldiers, fighting in the same battle? Why top lives are protect-worthy and why bottom-lives are throw-worthy?

I do not mean to say that VVIPs should risk their lives, by foregoing security. Similarly, they need not expose the Institutions of State to various security risks. What the VVIPs can do then? When the VVIPs get a feeling that their lives are very important, and that they need adequate protection, they should voluntarily step down from their posts, and invite others, who may not be so much concerned about their lives, to take over their posts and serve the country.

Whatever has been written here applies not only to BJP leaders, it also applies to Mr. Rahul Gandhi, Ms. Sonia Gandhi, and Living Retired Presidents.

Question: You are giving a foolish suggestion.

Ans: What can be done? At least 35% of our Police Force in India are being used by us for VIPs' PERSONAL SECURITY spending taxes collected from people, without even sparing rice and chillies. Top to bottom, significant POlice Resources and time are being spent on personal security of our MLAs, MPs, Ministers, Governors, Collectors, Police Superintendents, Judges, Film Stars, Industrialists. Everything else, including Preservation of National INtegrity is neglected.

Mr. Winston Churchill, Former Prime Minister of England, once predicted:

"..Power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues and freebooters. All Indian leaders will be of low caliber and men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles. A day would come when even air and water would be taxed.

India is merely a geographical expression. It is no more a single country than the equator.

Mr. Arun Jaitley, the Finance Minister of INdia is facing difficulties, to find NEW TARGETS to IMPOSE NEW TAXES and INCREASE TAX RATES. Either everything has been satiated, saturated and exhausted upto sediment. Even if there are any under-taxed small gaps here and there, the Pressure Groups have become so powerful that they can make or unmake Governments, Presidents and Prime Ministers.

Of course, other countries, including colonial and slave-trade enriched countries of Europe, including even the Native land of Mr. Winston Churchil, are all facing a similar situation. Only thing is, they are not openly acknowledging it, while in India, at least some of us acknowledge it. (To continue.

434 Central Budget 2015-16

Sorry that there is an interregnum in postings here.

A  friend has said that we have not discussed anything about the Budget of India 2015-16.

Better late, than never.  We shall do now.

There is one perceivable difference between the budge of Chidambaram and Arun Jaitley.

Both the budgets are big bourgeoisie budgets, undoubtedly.

Chidambaram's, Pranab Mukherjees, Manmohan Singh's budgets used to cover themselves with the fig leaves of doing something to the middle class and senior citizens.

Arun Jaitley has dispensed with that requirement of a fig leaf.   He has openly championed a crony capitalist budget.

Question: What you are writing is rotten with Communist jargon.   Explain how it benefits only big industrialists.

Ans:  Your response is understandable.

Whenever the Central Government taxes industries and businesses, big business and industrial houses immediately shift that burden to the common people by raising prices.  Whenever the Finance Minister gives them some concessions, the big business and industrial houses do not pass on at least a part of those concessions to the end-users by reducing prices, or at least abstaining from further increases of prices at least in short run.  Small and medium businesses may not be able to do that transfer of burden.   Hence, when the Central Government raises Service Tax, or impose some Svachch Bharat cess, or some other tax, whether on the business and industrial houses, or on the common man direct, the ultimate burden falls only on the small man.

403 Has India fallen in a foreign debt and foreign investment trap?

Ans: It seems so.

Question: Mr. Arun Jaitley says, there is nothing to worry about Indian Rupee.

Ans: Shri Jaitley may be having property worth crores of Rupees and a kilo & half of gold.  Hence he may not have a need to worry.  But common Indians, those who suffer from price rise, those who saved their hard earned savings with public sector banks, when they find that the Rupee which gets them now a kg. of rice for Rs. 44/-, will get with the same money only 1/2 kg. of rice, will definitely have to worry.

332 Vows or owes? As long as they are not intended to practise, empty words convey no meaning.

332 Vows or owes? As long as they are not intended to practise, empty words convey no meaning.
Topics for discussion: 332, Andhra Pradesh, Chandra Babu Naidu, Venkaiah Naidu, Arun Jaitley

Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu, before the forced division of united A.P. into Telangana and Residual Andhra Pradesh, once said that if Rs. 5,00,000 crore were to be given to him, he would create a golden Andhra Pradesh.

Sonia, Manmohan, Shinde, Modi (silently, because he is PM candidate), Sushma, Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu caught the hint and butchered the united A.P. like the guillotined cattle in the slaughterhouses of Chicago-Illinois, while making vague promises both financial and non-financial.

Now, Chandra Babu Naidu has become the CM of Residual Andhra Pradesh.

Since then, Mr. Naidu is chasing the powers that be, asking, begging, cajoling, clamoring, crying, demanding, entreating, following up, lamenting, praying, rambling, soliciting, for funds.

Centre has not allocated any funds in 2014-15 budget for keeping its promises to Andhra Pradesh.

Shri Venkaiah Naidu changed his tone. Please see my post No. 304. In his opinion, problems now mean cattle-dung heaps before houses.

Union Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley said that they do not have any Cash Transfer Scheme for bestowing on States.

Mr. Arun Jaitley could have said this in Rajya Sabha, when the Bill for separation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana was discussed.
