1046 New Round up First Fornight February 2018

News Reports indicate that Leaders of the Communist Party of India are trying to prevent split of the Party, on the question of whether to have Alliance with Indian National Congress, or not. While the Former General Secretary Shri Sitaram Yechuri favors an Alliance with Congress, on the ground that it is essential to overcome the Communal Forces and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruling India, the present General Secretary and his Supporters insist that the Party has to maintain distance both from Congress and the BJP. Personally, ybrao-a-donkey views that it will be better if CPIM splits, and both the new Offsprings become Active so as to be ready to face the 2019 Elections.

Splits are not new to Communist Movements in India

Ever since the major first split of 1964, when the United Communist Party of India got split into CPI and CPI (Marxist), on the question of whether to support USSR & Mrs. Indira Gandhi on one side, or to support China and Mao de Zong on the other side, the Indian Communist Movement had undergone several splits.

CPI preferred to support the USSR (Russia) and Mrs. Indira Gandhi. CPIM preferred to support China and Mao, and relatively more militant approach. CPIM had strength in West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura. CPI's strength was geographically scattered in the entire India, and consequently, it could not come into power in any State, except as a Member of a Left Front. Gradually, with the death of veteran members and with few new Youth Admissions into the Party taking place, CPI lost its strength.

CPIM ruled West Bengal for three decades, and during the period it became more bourgeoisie and lost its Leftist Spirit. Finally, it surrendered itself to the demands of Industrial Houses like Tatas, started harassing small farmers in the name of Industrial Development, while its Opponent Ms. Mamta Banerjee's Trinamul Congress wooed the Peasants and Laborers, and routed out the Left Front from Bengal.

Since the 1964, during the five decades, more militant members of CPIM left it, to form further more militant, somewhat violent outfit Movements such as Naxals, Maoists, of various hues. They believed that Communist Revolution can be brought into India only with the barrel of a Gun. They mobilised Funds from Forest and Other Contractors, purchased Arms, attracted innocent Tribals into their Movements, killed some landlords, killed more Villagers in the name of Informers, and gunned down / blasted out hundreds of Policemen. Finally what happened? Central and State Governments were made to spend billions of Rupees on Police Forces, Vehicles, Copters and Helipads, Arms and Ammunition, Payments to Informers. Police too killed thousands of Naxals, Maoists, and Villagers on various pretexts during genuine and fake Encounters. Did the Professed Revolution come? Na. Could the Government annihilate the Naxals and Maoists completely? Na.

Are the CPI and CPIM truly self-introspective?

When compared to the Bourgeoisie Parties, Communal Parties, Dynastic Parties, Regional Parties, the CPI and CPIM may be more self-introspective. But it is only partially true. Both the CPI and CPIM do not have adequate internal democracies. They just make semblances of Introspection. But, real introspection never takes place.

Example: Was it a blunder, not to permit Late Jyothi Basu become Prime Minister of India, when a slight and vague opportunity arose in 1990s?

That step could not be termed as a blunder. At the most, it might have been a minor error. May be a minor error, which might have been based on foreseeabilities of ponderables. Had Late Jyothi Basu formed a Government at Centre, and become Prime Minister, believing that Congress would genuinely support him, he might have been disposed off, quicker than the time taken for the disposal of Messrs. Charan Singh, Deve Gowda, I.K. Gujral and Chandrasekhar. Reason: Congress and BJP were never accustomed to play a second fiddle for long periods. They are like maneaters which having tasted human blood will never compromise for anything lower. Congress and BJP want power at any cost. Mr. Jyothi Basu and the CPIM might have had to face disappointments and humiliations. All those ignominies were averted by the CPIM of that time, and Jyothi Basu was saved from his catastrophic political collapse.

Question: If CPI and CPIM do not, in unison with Congress and Regional Parties, make a United Fight against BJP, in the 2019 General Election, BJP will again come to Power.

This may happen. But, it can also happen even if Left Front supports Congress. Besides, after winning, Congress may continue with Soft Hindutva exhibited by Rahul Gandhi recently, old habit of appeasing Minorities, the same bourgeoisie policies and practices of the Congress-BJP ilk Crony-Capitalism. CPIM should not forget that Manmohan Singh, Ms. Sonia Gandhi and Congress ditched the CPIM in 2009.

Question: Do you want perpetuate the Rule of Mr. Narendra Modi?

Ans: Though it is by-and-large true that People of India and its States are vexed with both Congress, BJP, and Regional Parties like Samajvadi, BSP, RJD, Anna DMK, TDP, YSRCP, TRS etc. etc., they do not see CPI or CPIM as alternatives for the bourgeoisie Parties. They still prefer the Bourgeoisie Parties to the Left. May be because Bourgeoisie Paries throw more Currency Notes, more liquor, and cater more to their demands like Ration Cards, House sites, Health Cards, Reservations. Not to lag behind, Left Parties too tried these offers, but they could not match with he bourgeoisie parties.

Left Parties erroneously believe that their votes can be transferred in favor of Congress, and vice versa. But it is wrong. If Left Parties ask their sympathizers to vote for Congress in Constituency 'X', expecting that Congress will ask their Voters in Constituency 'Y' to vote for CPIM, will it really happen? A true Left sympathizer may not take money for his Vote. Yet, he may not vote for Congress. Such voter may not go to the Polling Station at all, or may prefer NOTA. A Bourgeoisie Party's Voters can get tempted because they do not have any ideological compulsions. Even Religious Beliefs cannot work as glue to bind them to their Parties. Consequently, Congress Voters can sell their votes for money, and vote for the Candidate whoever pays them.

Question: Do you mean to say that Left Parties should not Unite?

Ans: Communist Parties believe that there should be one United Leftist Party, fighting numerous Bourgeoisie Parties. On the other hand, I believe that there should be at least two very Active Leftist Parties contesting Elections with one another in every Constituency, relegating bourgeoisie parties to oblivion. That means CPI and CPIM can contest with one another. Similarly if CPIM splits, CPIM(1) can contest with CPIM(2). Voters should have choices in selecting and electing a Communist / Marxist / Socialist Party. If Communist Parties artificially unite, this will not happen. Voters will have One Communist Party and numerous Bourgeoisie Parties in the arena. Then those voters who are unhappy with the Monopolyist Artificial Communist Party will vote for the bourgeoisie party. Hence, let there be Natural competition among Leftist Parties in the Election. In fact, this is the meaning of 'Dictatorship of Proletariat'. The essence of this idea is: If all the Communist Parties belong to the Working Class, electing Working Class Persons as their Leaders, and bulk of the Population believes that they belong to the Working Class, then a true Ballot Revolution will take place. This may appear to be Utopian. Whether Utopian or not, correct things have to take place. In Telugu language, there is a proverb 'navvina nApa cElu panDavA?' (English meaning: While onlookers continue laughing, even stony soils will yield good harvest [provided hard work is done]).

992 It is not easy to get meals or tiffin in dalit homes. Not to speak of the sumptuous and succulent dishes on banana leaves!!!

We frequently see on TV screens, and in print media, videos and photos showing our leaders like Mr. Rahul Gandhi, Mr. Yeddiyurappa, Mr. Amit Shah, dining in dalit homes, all over India. The banana leaves / leaf plates on which these sumptuous succulent dishes are served, often repeatedly asked and cajoled by host gents and ladies, gives an impression that dalit homes are rich. From this blogger's real life personal experience after working as a Bank Manager, in Mahaboobnagar District of Telangana State, it is difficult to convince a dalit householder to share food with additional persons, as they do not have enough food to spare, not to speak of providing sumptuous and succulent breakfasts, lunches and dinners to visitors. Not that the dalit householders are miserly or stingy. It is the miserable state of deprivation of their homes which makes them to hesitate to offer food to outsider guests. Exceptions, we can see only in case of marriage functions, post-funeral 10th day rituals where feeding villagers/relatives become UNAVOIDABLE RITUAL for religious reasons.

Views of ybrao-a-donkey, which are not intended to be imposed on others

This type of breakfasts, lunches, teas-snacks, dinners are arranged in dalit homes by any Upper Caste or Upper SUdra landlord caste Party leaders (not only BJP, all political parties in India have this practice), at their own costs. Then also the dalits may not come forward to host breakfasts, lunches, teas, dinners at their homes, out of shyness, or out of repeated disappointments with political leaders. Then the landlord village leaders promise the dalit householders benefits such as homes under Government Schemes, buffaloes, sheep, autos, bullock carts, etc. etc. to motivate them.

The dalits may be real-life kuchElAs [kuchEla= a character in Mahabhagavata, who is a class-mate of Lord Shri Krishna. He approached his childhood friend Lord Shri Krishna, under pressure from his (Kuchela's) wife, to find a solution for his poverty], but Mr. Amit Shah is not a real life Sri Krishna. Amit Shah does not know who that dalit host is. For everything, he needs a prompting from the village landlord, Upper Caste/Upper SUdra BJP leader. The moment he gods back to Delhi or Ahmedabad, he is bound to forget everything, because this roll-play will have to be repeated thousands of times. And nobody, enters the details of the dalit homes into a mysql database for periodical reference.

yb-a-donkey's real life personal experiences

During my work as Bank Manager in an area adjoining the Nalgonda District (Western border of Nalgonda District), following are my experiences.

1. When a politician / Government Officials of State and Central Governments / Police and Forest Staff visit Telangana villages, usually advance information goes to villages through village henchmen (called in Telugu: pettandars, pairavikArs). Whether advance information is given or not, the moment somebody(bodies) breakfast-lunch-snacks-tea-dinner worthy enter(s) a village, the Village sarpanch, Village Revenue Officer, local party leader, panchayat karobar, employees of the concerned Departments, whoever considers that it is necessary for himself-herself, will arrange to cut a poultry-cock for chicken, and/or a sheep or a goat (depending on the number of persons). If necessary he will also arrange for liquor bottles, some sweets/mixture/cool drinks etc. These things are arranged in either the Sarpanch's house, or any other landlord's house. Not at dalit homes. Only in case of election jumlas (show-tricks) dalit homes are visited.

Depending on the location of the village, i.e. whether the village is on the High Way at a crucial junction, or in a remote nook and corner, the pressure and the number of visits will vary. Sarpanches in Highway villages have to host more parties. But whatever be the case, the hosts will never bear the costs from their personal pockets. They pass on the costs to the villagers in various ways. The villagers also understand that, and they share the burden.

During my 2 1/2 years stay in the Mahaboobnagar District villages, I or my four staff members (all of them belong to Scheduled Castes)-- we have never dined at sarpanch-homes, patel-patvAri homes, vro-vdo homes, landlord homes, as we knew that the burden will be passed on to the other villagers. Besides, we were afraid of becoming puppets of our lunch-givers. We had about 16 villages to serve. Whenever, we had to visit villages for recoveries, inspections, etc. we used to start very early at 6 a.m., and return by 11 a.m., so that there would be no need to eat anywhere, except take tea in wayside teastalls (if at all they existed).

I have never revealed my caste to anybody. To the extent possible, I have never asked the caste of any person, except where it was necessary to fill Govt. forms, for extending subsidy, margin benefits, as stipulated in the relative schemes. The Sarpanches, landlords, former patel-patvaris (village revenue officials) have a tendency to insist that they alone should receive courtesies such as seats, teas in Banks, while BCs, SCs, and STs stand behind them. This system we have removed, which has hurt the ego-s of the sarpanches, former patel-patvaris, landlords. Besides, after coming to know that all my four staff members belonged to SCs, the village-rulers lost interest in us.

966 While triple talaq is a very cruel custom violating human rights, Mr. Narendra Modi could have allowed Supreme Court to issue appropriate directions on it

Every Indian, with the exception of a few religious bigots and fanatics agree that triple talaq is a cruel custom, violating human rights. The custom needs to be discontinued by all means, legislation, persuasion, social reforms. But our Honorable Prime Minister of India appears to be in a hurry. He seems to be in undue haste. This is particularly true because, the matter is sub judice, and the Highest Court of India is going to hear it on 11th May 2017 (only 15 days ahead). It is very much likely that Supreme Court may expedite its decision in view of its 'cruel' nature, and its paramount imporance from the point of view of human rights. The rising of the issue by Mr. Narendra Modi in Karnataka, which is due for elections this year, he has created a situation that he wants to seize the initiative from Supreme Court of India. Besides, an impression among people's minds may arise that our Prime Minister does not want to give due credit to the Supreme Court, and that he wants to emerge as 'Muslim nAri hridaya samrAT' (English: "Emperor of the Hearts of Muslim Women") , and wants to be hailed as their Messiah.

A quote of what Mr. Modi is reported to have said in Karnataka, on the occasion of the birth anniversary celebration of Basaveswara, a Kannada philosopher

'Don't politicise triple talaq issue',

"... protect women from the effects of the practice of oral divorce. ..."

"...“I am sure enlightened people will emerge from among Muslims and come forward to end this practice, liberating our Muslim daughters and mothers from the scourge ..."

"...“Come out and find a solution. That solution will have its own majesty and generations will remember you. ..."

"...show the 'path of modernity' to Muslims across the world. ... That is the kind of power and energy this land gives to all of us.”

" ... Reformers from the Muslim community itself+ will come forward to fight what (our) Muslim daughters have to go through (in the name of triple talaq), they will find a way out ..."

"... I also request the Muslim community, don't look at this issue through a political lens, don't let it go that route ..."

"...show the “path of modernity” to Muslims across the world. “That is the kind of power and energy this land gives to all of us. ...”

yb-donkey's personal views, not intended to be imposed on others

Mr. Modi is asking others not to politicise the issue. But, he himself is politicising it. Other parties have not raised it. Besides, the appropriate time to raise this issue will be : "after receiving Supreme Court judgement, and before implementing it".

Hon. Prime Minister has rightly identified the resentment and unrest in the minds of enlightened / educated Muslim Women, about the continuance of the obnoxious custom of triple talaq. But the timing is not apt, because it gives an impression that he is trying to use 'liberation of Muslim women from triple talaq' as a bait to capture their votes. But, it can be counter-productive sometimes, because he may be alienating Muslim Men from BJP.

SAUDI ARABIAN + Pakisthani TUTORED MUSLIM CLERICS MAY SPOIL THE MINDS OF MUSLIM MEN

Instigated by Saudi Arabian and Pakisthani trained Muslim Clerics may instigate the minds of Muslim men to such an extent that Muslim Husbands may not allow their wives to go out and vote in the 2019 General Elections.

PLIGHT OF BURQA/VEIL CLAD WOMEN

Day by day, the % of burqa clad women, face-tightly-tied with veil, moving on streets, is rising. They seem to be under pressure from their parents, siblings, husbands, neighbors to wear burqa or at least tightly tie their faces with full veil. Government of India ought to initiate a survey on the plight of women who are forced to wear burqa. Even during those surveys, majority women may inform that they wear the burqa/full veil on their own volition, and that there is no pressure on them to wear full mask. Burqa women need liberation from their hardships. But Governments cannot take hasty steps, which will lead to alienation, and conflicts between men and women.

All these issues are very slippery. "Slow and Steady" treading with "harmony and conciliation" are very important.

BJP LEADERS HAVE TO INTROSPECT

Many Indians view BJP as a party with 'HIndu Religious Agenda'. BJP also seems to believe that it is the sole representative of the Hindus, and Indian Nationalism + patriotism. If BJP's positioning itself as the savior of Hindu Religion is true, the right step for the BJP Leaders ought to have been to start with REFORMING HINDU CUSTOMS. For example, there is the custom of lavish expenditure in Hindu Marriages, and the CRUEL practice of extracting / extorting dowry from daughters-in-law and their parents. This practice is continuing in spite of Dowry Prohibition Act, and Sec. 498 of IPC domestic violence provisions. This dowry harassment and violence appears to be more rampant, quantitatively and in intensity, in BJP Ruled states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra. Uttar Pradesh.
See this link: Click to go to http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Dowry-death-One-bride-burnt-every-hour/articleshow/11644691.cms. Here is one quote from it:--
2012 Report: NEW DELHI: In a crime that is prevalent only in India, greedy husbands and his relatives harass the newly wed bride for getting more dowry, and often kill her in the process. And, very often, she is burnt alive. This horror is therefore called bride-burning or in official terms, dowry death.

In 2010, there were 8391 reported cases of dowry death in the country. That works out to a shocking one death every hour approximately. Bride-burning is on the increase — just a decade ago, in 2000, there were 6995 cases.

Another link of 2015, worth studying: Click here to go to http://www.smh.com.au/world/india-burning-brides-and-ancient-practice-is-on-the-rise-20150115-12r4j1.html

A quote from the above news report

"...Of the 671 bride burnings she knew of in the area surrounding Bangalore last year, only about 50 cases had been formally registered by police last year. Nationally, convictions are secured in only about 15 per cent of cases that make it to court. ..."

yb-donkey: If only 50 cases are reported out of 671 bride burnings at Bangalore, and conviction rate is only 15% of tried cases, what will be the position at All India level? Bangalore is also in Karnataka State, where Mr. Narendra Modi spoke. Why didn't Mr. Modi speak about 'dowry deaths' (seems to be common to all religions, as far as my little knowledge goes)?

TODAY'S ENVIRONMENT IS VITIATED WITH CONFLICTS AMONG ISLAMIC COUNTRIES, AND BETWEEN WEST and THE isis+taliban

We know that today's world is infested with terrorists. Some external elements from countries like Saudi Arabia, Dubai (UAE), Pakistan are trying to play with Indian Muslim sentiments and superstitions, by instigating some gullible innocent Indian Muslim clerics. In the circumstances, every step on our part will have to be very careful, discreet, and harmonizing. Any indiscreet step, hasty step can lead to long-drawn civil wars. Who wins or who loses in the process will be immaterial, because WEAPON SELLING COUNTRIES WILL USE THE OPPORTUNITY TO FISH IN TROUBLED WATERS, and the country will be ultimate loser.

A verse by the Great Ancient Sanskrit poet 'bhAravi's' work 'kirAtArjunIyam':
सहसा विदधीत न क्रियाम्
अविवेकः परमापदां पदम् ।
वृणते हि विमृश्यकारिणं
गुणलुब्धाः स्वयमेव हि संपदः ॥ (किरातार्जुनीयम् २.३०)

sahasA vidadhIt na kriyAm
avivEkaha paramApadAm padam
vriNatE hi vimrisya kAriNam
guNalabdhAha svayamEva hi sampadaha.
(KirAtArjunIyam 2/30)

Approx. Gist: 1. Nothing should be done in haste/hurry. (There is also a reverse maxim: Alasyam amritam visham. Meaning: When delayed, nectar can become poison).

2. Indiscretion can become a cause for great dangers/hardships and troubles.

3. Good Results and glory accomplished with virtuosity, prefer those who exercise discretion. In other words, an approximate inference. (subject to revision): Only those who exercise discretion can alone gain virtuosity, and good results.

VOCABULARY HELP FOR 'DISCREET' AND 'DISCRETE'

discreet, adj. : Careful and prudent in one's speech or actions, especially in order to keep something confidential or to avoid embarrassment. ‘we made some discreet inquiries’

Intentionally unobtrusive. ‘a discreet cough’ Usage: The words discrete and discreet are pronounced in the same way and share the same origin but they do not mean the same thing. Discrete means ‘separate’, as in a finite number of discrete categories, while discreet means ‘careful and circumspect’, as in you can rely on him to be discreet

224 Shri Modi lacks minimum courtesy and manners

English: All parties have looted the country and the people. How about the pillage of the iron ore in Karnataka State under BJP Rule, by Shri Gali Janardana Reddy? BJP in Karnataka encouraged iron ore plunderers, and made them Ministers.
