869 (7 of total 10 series) Are masturbation and Self-love workable solutions to release human bondages from the needs of oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine?

The Central idea of this blog post is, to examine how a person can free himself from the PULLS AND PUSHES of his partners, be they wives-husbands, lovers, partners in adultery, gay, lesbian, other LGBTs, which can lead to embarassing behaviors in social life. Family moralists, will please, for the time being, bear with my free musings. Trigger for this blogpost: 1. Repeat of Valmiki RamayaNa in the Mulayam Singh Yadav's (Former Chief Minister of U.P., and Former Defence Minister of India), Empire "Samajvadi Party", and the Chief Ministership of Uttar Pradesh. Modern Rama, i.e. Akhilesh Yadav s/o Shri Mulayam, has not accepted his father's decrees and dicta.

2. Death of Ms. Jayalalithaa, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu State, and the succession battle in Tamil Nadu between Panneer Selvam, the present TN Chief Minister and Sasikala, the companion of Late Jayalalithaa.

Our readers are aware of the common adage in History and Current Affairs as "History repeats itself". While some people vouchsafe this with much conviction, others may phew phew the concept of the History repeating itself.

If we are unable to accept the concept of history repeating itself, we can accept and say something like "Some events seem to be an integral part of human behaviors, such behaviors being passed from one generation to another generation of the culture of the place/region/country, and events indicating repetitive behaviors may be presenting themselves before us to caution us".

CONFLICTS between sons and sons-in-law of Shri N.T. Rama Rao, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and his second wife

In this conflict, Late Mr. N.T. Rama Rao was dethroned from the Chief Ministership of Andhra Pradesh, and his younger son-in-law Nara Chandra Babu Naidu, anointed himself as the Chief Minister, with the co-operation of the off-springs of NTR through his first wife.

Now, repetition of history:--According to news reports, the second wife of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mrs. Sadhana Gupta, wants their son Prateek to be anointed in place of the first wife's son Akhilesh Yadav. Shri Akhilesh Yadav revolted, and got himself elected as the National President of Samajvadi Party.

We may, better, first start with the link: Click to go to study the four-fold path at http://www.school-for-champions.com/religion/buddhism_four_noble_truths.htm

Four Noble Truths

The Four Noble Truths of Buddhism are stated in simple terms as:

Suffering exists
Suffering arises from attachment to desires
Suffering ceases when attachment to desire ceases
Freedom from suffering is possible by practicing the Eightfold Path

In Indian philosophy, suffering= popular word 'duhkha'. Attachment = 'sanga'. Cessation of suffering = 'mukti'. Eightfold Path = 'ashTa vidha mArga'. This ashTavidha mArga consists of the Buddhist tenets
Right view
Right intention
Right speech
Right action
Right livelihood
Right effort
Right mindfulness
Right concentration. Notes: The Buddhist eight-fold path is different from the Patanjali yOgA's ashTAnga yOgA path (Path of Eight Parts or in other words Eight sub-paths such as Asana, samAdhi.).

yb-a-donkey's observations which are not intended to be imposed on others

1. It is difficult to identify anybody, (Buddhists will be hurt if I dare to say that even Buddha has not succeeded. Hence, I dare not ), who has successfully followed this Eightfold path of either Buddha or the Paatanjali, to conquer misery (duhkha) or attachment (sanga).

TRAVAILS OF KING DASARATHA IN VALMIKI RAMAYANA

When we go to Valmiki Ramayana, Ayodhya Kanda (Book of Ayodhya, i.e. volume 2), we find that king daSaratha was stuck with a conflict between doing justice to his first wife by anointing his first wife's son, and the third wife who demands that the first wife's son should be sent to a 14 year exile into forests, and her own son (third wife's son) should be anointed in his place. He fell flat at the feet of his third wife, offering and promising to inflict punishments on innocents and release guilty persons or do whatever she commands, in lieu of her current demands.

TRAVAILS OF KING SANTANU IN VYASA MAHABHARATA

When we go to Vyasa Mahabharata, we come across King Santanu promising to his first wife River Ganga (in human incarnation) not to object to anything which she does, during their marital relationship, agreeing to the condition that the moment he objects, she may leave him. Eight children were born to them, and Ganga drops seven of them into River Ganga. Santanu just bore the suffering. Unable to bear the pangs, he objects when Ganga tries to drop the 8th baby into the River. Their relationship breaks, saving the life of the baby, who grows up as Prince gAngEya ( Bhishma).

TRAVAILS OF EMPEROR YAYATI IN VYASA MAHABHARATA

When we go to the story of Emperor yayAti in Vyasa Mahabharati, yayAti made promises to his wife dEvayAni and her father SukrAcArya. But later, he had secret affairs with rAkshasa king's daughter SarmishTha, and gets cursed by dEvayAni's father SukrAchArya. Here yayAti's suffering was due to his lust.

TRAVAILS OF PRINCE DHRUVA in VYASA MAHA BHAGAVATA

This is not the story of the 2016 Telugu film DHRUVA of Hero Rama Charan. Dhruva was a 5 year old Prince son of King uttAnapAda. His mother was Queen Suneeti, Uttanapada's first wife. King's second wife was Suruchi, and her son was Uttama. Once, when Dhruva was sitting on his father's lap at the King's throne, and his step mother Suruchi came, and forcibly removed Dhruva from his father's lap. The King was a slave of his second queen Suruchi. He was mum. Click to Dhruva at Wikipedia.

Suferings of PRINCE SARANGADHARA

The Queen citrAngi, King rAjarAja narEndra's Second wife, and step mother of Prince Sarangadhara, approaches Prince Sarangadhara with lust, and gets turned down, because he viewed it as incest. His step mother complains to the King with a fabricated story against Sarangadhara, and the King without proper enquiries ordered the chopping of the legs and hands of Sarangadhara. There are some local variations of this aga. This saga can be read at Wikipedia.org: Click here to go to Wikipedia, and read Prince Sarangadhara's story..

Nanda Kings, Mauryan Kings, have apparently suffered from problems arising out of polygamy, and sibling rivalries, and succession battles.

Slave dynasty, Khilji dynasty, Tughlak dynasty, Sayyad and Lodi dynasty sultans, Moghul Emperors too seem to have suffered from problems arising out of polygamy, and sibling rivalries, and succession battles.

IMPORTANCE OF OXYTOCIN, SEROTONIN, and DOPAMINE

Chemistry of hormones seems to substantially influence human behaviors, as far as the needs of affection, affiliation, emotional relaxation, stress-relief are concerned. Apart from the biological need of procreation, sexual urges also seem to serve as stress-relievers, through inter-hormonal reactions among oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine. Here is an informative link to a Government of United States Health Webpage: Click to go to https://newsinhealth.nih.gov/2007/february/docs/01features_01.htm. Some lines from this page, relevant to our discusion:

"...Between loving partners, between parents and children, or even between close friends, physical affection can help the brain, the heart and other body systems you might never have imagined....".

"... In the past few years, scientists supported by NIH have begun to understand the chemistry and biology of love. ...

...At the center of how our bodies respond to love and affection is a hormone called oxytocin. Most of our oxytocin is made in the area of the brain called the hypothalamus. Some is released into our bloodstream, but much of its effect is thought to reside in the brain. ...

"...Oxytocin makes us feel good when we’re close to family and other loved ones, including pets. It does this by acting through what scientists call the dopamine reward system. Dopamine is a brain chemical that plays a crucial part in how we perceive pleasure. ..."

Ques: On what basis, do you consider that masturbation and self-love can become substitutable solutions, for real physical love-making?

Ans: As long as the partners in love have harmony, and they both together are in harmony with other members of the family/society, there may not be any problems. Else, problems will get compounded. Our readers can google, and study for themselves the problems of the historic figures mentioned in the above paragraphs.

Co-operation from partners (be they husband-wife, paramour-concubine, lovers in adultery, gays, lesbians, trans-sexuals, or simple asexuals) may not always be hassle-free. Most often, they come with strings, and substantial expenses, encumbrances, and both predictable and unpredictable dangerous consequences.

What I wish to highlight, though at this stage, with much hesitation:--

If the joys we derive from sexual intercourse-s and relationships, are just either sensory messages from our sense organs of Sabda (sound-ears), sparSa (touch-skin), rasa (taste-tongue), rUpa (vision-eyes), gandha (smell-nose), or through the release of chemicals and hormones in our body such as oxytocin, serotonin, dopamine, why should humans throughout their lives undergo all the processes of sexual relationships-- first wife, second wife, lovers, adultery, gay, lesbian, trans-sex (lgbt) etc.? Some masturbation and self-love with or without sex toys and dildos, will probably do, to satisfy the body's need of chemical processes and reactions. Self-love either physical or emotional can be risk-free or less-risky or risk-resistant.

Question: What this Self-love & Masturbation Theory, has got to do with your fetish of Total True Socialism?

Ans: I am not aware, or much sure of how Karl Marx, Angels, and Lenin examined the Institution of Marriage, from the point of Socialism. I believe, at this moment, I am amenable to future corrections, that Dissolution of the Institution of Marriage, Introduction of Child Care by the State, will substantially help in strengthening the True Total Socialism.

As is often being made out, if Capitalism is the Champion of Individualism, how does it promote Individualism? Probably because it encourages the idea that men and women are exclusive personal properties of their partners, whereas they are not. Of course, right now, even Socialism may not accept that the Institution of Marriage is a hindrance in the path of Individualism.

To continue. This is a thousand page subject. सशेष. ఇంకా ఉంది.

772 (Part 4/10 of Self-love). SELF LOVE DOES NOT CREATE LEGAL OR PECUNIARY OBLIGATIONS

This is in continuation of our blog posts about 747, 748, and 771 about self-love, both asexual and sexual, including masturbation, both male and female. I have also given a few links to Western Websites which enlist the benefits of male masturbation, most of which delve around physiological aspects such as secretion of dopamine in brain, as a part of perceived rewards system. They have also explained some other benefits, some of which are reasonable. In post NO. 771, I promised to examine the socio-economic issues of self-love versus loving others (includes all humans including homo, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and hetero). Whatever we analyse, will apply to all the three sexes male-female-trans-genders, spouses, lovers, prositutes, etc. irrespective of the genders of the pronouns we use.

SELF-LOVE DOES NOT CREATE LEGAL OR PECUNIARY OBLIGATIONS
Whatever a person in his bed-room or in study will be limited only to him. It does not create any legal or pecuniary obligations. No need to fall at the feet of spouse, a la the mythical King Dasaratha, who fell at the feet of Queen Kaikeyi. See the image at the top.

For those, who are not familiar with Indian Epic Valmiki Ramayana: DaSaratha was king of Ayodha. He has 350 wives, with three principal Queens Kausalya, Sumitra, Kakeyi. Dasaratha wanted to coronate his eldest son Shri Rama, born out of Kausalya, as the new King. Hearing the news, Queen Kaikeyi was initially happy. Misdirected by her maid servant Manthara, Kaikeyi went to her Anger room in the gynesium. When Dasaratha went to see Kaikeyi, with an object of sexual pleasure (2-10-17), he was directed to the Anger Room, where she was found to be lying on floor. He tried to pacify her in various ways, but she didn't relent. Then King Dasaratha fell at her feet, and made many appeals. Some of such appeals is worth noting:

Book 2, Chapter 10, Verse 32.

Don't weep, and get your body dehydrated and weakened. (You tell what you desire). I shall kill a person who deserves not to be killed. I shall release a person who deserves to be killed. I shall make a poor person a wealthy man. Or I shall make a wealthy person, a destitute.

Book 2 (Ayodhya Kanda), Chapter 12 (sarga 12), Verse 14.

Approx. English
Entire earth upto the Seas, I shall give you. Let not anger overwhelm you.

Addiction to other sex has made the King to offer to kill an innocent person and release a guilty fellow. It made him to offer to reduce a rich person into penury, and to enrich a poor fellow, simply because, the other sex wants! In case of "SELF-LOVE", THIS SHAMEFUL COLLAPSE AND DESCENT WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.

Dasaratha's own son, Shri Rama, after leaving to forest exile of 14 years, expressed his unhappiness at his father and called him kAmAtma.(One who is overwhelmed by lust).
2-53-8, Ayodhya Kanda, Chapter 53
Anaathaha caiva vruddhaha ca
mayaa caiva vinaakrutaha
kim karishyati kaama aatmaa
Kaikeeyyaa vasham aagataha. CONTEXT The very second day of the first year in the forest, Rama revealed his mind to Lakshmana. ENGLISH GIST Orphaned, aged, deprived of help from me, fallen in the control and grip of Kaikeeyi, what the lustful soul (kaama aatma) will do (kim karishyati)? 2-53-10 Koo hi avidvaan api pumaan pramadaayaaha krutee tyajeet chanda anuvartinam putram taataha maam iva Lakshman`a!

CONTEXT
Rama was opening out his heart to Lakshmana.

ENGLISH GIST
Oh Lakshmana! Howsoever deluded a person may be under the guile of a woman, which man will at his will and pleasure shed (or throw out or abandon) a son like me?

2-53-13, Ayodhya Kanda, Chapter 53
artha dharmau parityajya
yah kaamam anuvartate
eevam aapadyatee kshipram
raajaa Dasharatho yathaa.

ENGLISH GIST Whoever sheds his goals of duty and prosperity/wealth and follows the path of lust will fast fall in danger, like the king Dasaratha.

Won't SELF-LOVE, whether with masturbation or without masturbation, be better than begging spouses for sexual favours????

771 (Part 3/10) of Self-Love. Male Masturbation.

.
This is in continuation of blogposts 747 click here if you wish to read 747 about self-love Click here to go to to go to 748 . The above sculpture shows that there were no inhibitions on masturbation, in some Indian sub-cultures, in some particular geographical areas like Madhya Pradesh. Other Indian cultures have not encouraged masturbation, because semen was regarded as valuable, and limited for humans. Belief: The maximum quantity of semen every male human gets from his Creator, is limited to one double-handful of his hands. Bachelors and celebates should try to preserve their semen for future use.

SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT VIEW IN AYURVEDIC TEXTS (TRADITIONAL INDIAN MEDICINE)

SEMEN is regarded as one of the seven faecuses (excretions). 1. sweat 2. stools 3. urine 4. discharges from eyes 5. discharges from nose 6. discharges from ears. 7. Semen.

If semen is regarded as faecus, it will have to be excreted through ejaculation. The Ayurvedic Texts have not expressly recommended / prohibited masturbation. But Vatsayana kAmasutras an Indian Treatise on Sex, views masturbation negatively.

Many INDIAN YOUTH INDULGE SECRETLY

Since many male Indians seem to believe that their openly engaging in masturbation, will make others, particularly fathers of brides to believe that the groom has been weakened by losing his semen. Hence, Indian male individuals even if they indulge in masturbation, they do not accept or disclose it openly. It is done only secretly.

The following quote is courtesy Click to go to http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/masturbation?page=2

"...For most men, at the very least, sex is a daily deal. Men need to come. If they aren’t doing it with you, then they’re doing it with themselves – or worse, with someone else. ... ― Nikki Sex, Kink." 2) Second quote: "I hung a picture of him above my bed and learned by hand the internal workings of the female combustion engine. ― Shannon Celebi, Small Town Demons".

WESTERN VIEW

According to the Western Researchers, there no benefits accrue by preserving one's own semen. Like mucus, semen is secreted by glands, and will get self-excreted in due course, even if a person does not indulge in masturbation.

There are numerous websites which extol the virtues of male masturbation. Here are some links.

All the Western Websites stress on release of dopamine (chemical which motivates brain for rewards). Their analyses are mainly based on physiology.

Next blog post in this series will deal with non-physiological aspects of masturbation, both male and female. Stress will be more on socio-economic issues.

Ques: Don't write like gODa mIda pilli (cat on wall). Write specifically, whether you support masturbation or not.

Medical Doctors and qualified andrologists may be the proper persons to answer this question, from the point of view of personal physical and mental health of individuals.

SOCIAL MERITS AND, PERSONAL CONVENIENCE BENEFITS OF MASTURBATION

At this blog, we can only answer from the SOCIAL, and PERSONAL CONVENIENCE point of view. When compared to begging partners (male/female/transsexuals whoever they are) for sexual favors, meeting all types of demands from them --demands on time, money, severing relations with other relatives and family members, friends, accepting their arrogance, intrusions, rudeness, greed, obscenities and vulgarities, it always seem to be better-off living with self-love.

Masturbation is just a matter of chemistry of serotonin and dopamine balance in brain, and physical/emotional relaxation of individuals. Though on a first look, it may appear as though, a masturbating person may regard him-herself as lacking self-control, one need not be very touchy about it. It is only a little of loss of seminal fluid, and some futile efforts. In fact, masturbation can prevent persons from becoming rapists and criminals. A masturbating self-loving person will be blackmail-proof and blackmail-resistant against invading partners. Masturbation is a great insulator, apart from being a stress-reliever.

Ques: Won't married sexual lives of individuals be disrupted?

Ans: Ordinarily, a person does not resort to masturbation, when his-her partner co-operates, when his-her partner is reasonable in making demands, is moderate in arrogance and interference into activities not connected to married life. When a partner makes unreasonable demands, the other suffering partner cannot continuously accede to such demands, and hurt others, so as just to satisfy the spouse in exchange for sexual favors. Then, the suffering partner cannot immediately go for a divorce and start a fresh married life.

Second and subsequent marriages/relationships/dates can also generate undue demands.

Apart from the legal and financial problems involved in divorces, the suffering partner when starts a fresh life from a new partner, the new partner can also make unreasonable demands. This is an unending, unpredictable cycle with possibilities of recurrences.

748 (Part 2/10) of Self-Love, Self-Esteem, Self-Discipline, Sustainability issues

This is in continuation of our blogpost No. 747 [Click here if you wish to go to 747], which dealt with . Part 1/10 of Self-Love. There, we have expressed a view that self-love need not extend to sologamy or narcissism. We have also felt that self-love need not necessarily have something to do with platonic love towards others (love), sexual love towards others (lust or biological or physiological love).

When we see the above photograph of a peacock in its full glory (photo courtesy independenceks.gov., the more acceptable scientific view which we may get to our mind is that, male peacocks show themselves on and off, to attract the other sex for love and partnership.

Even outside the physiological or sexual behaviors, one may get an impression that a person may love him-her-self, try to enlarge his-her image than to "larger-than-life size" to win appreciation of others. Humans seem to continuously need boosts to their own impressions of self-esteem, by means of flatteries and praise-s from others.

WHY SELF-LOVE IS BECOMING A NECESSITY IN THIS 21ST CENTURY?

Self-love need not necessarily be for those who have wads of greenbacks to spend, lot of time to pass on ceremonies and celebrations on functions like self-marriages, but it will be more of a timely helping tool for those suffering from deprivation both in rural and urban areas, not only in developing countries like India, but even those so called Great Prosperous World of Europe and United States.

In Hindi language, we have an idiom called "time-pass-pallies" or "time-pass-baThAnIs". In Telugu language we have its equivalent: 'kAla kshEpam baThAnis'. English : Chickpeas or peanuts to bide time away. Self-love is not for those 'kAla kshEpam baThAni' dandies. It is very much for those who work 24 x 7 x 365. It is very much for those who toil as blue collared workers and equally for those who do some desk or computer jobs.

Here is a link to a news report in Asian Age, dated 7th May 2016, and in Deccan Chronicle dated 9th May 2016, titled 'The hidden cost of young urban living' by Nishtha Kanal. Click to go to Asian Age, Nishtha Kanal's article. You can also find this at DC. .

This particular article deals with 'urban poverty' in Indian Cities, but the circumstances, environments, and situations in other cities of the world may not be much different (not literally, but in their essence), hence the article is worth examining on an international plane. Though the article gives examples of feminine workers, staying alone in Cities, the settings can equally apply even to masculine workers.

We shall take up one small sample of this article for the limited purpose of our 'SELF-LOVE NEED ANALYSES'.

"...The last two days saw the term “urban poverty” heavily trending on social media following an article that went viral on the subject. According to that piece, the urban poor mostly constitute of 20-something young professionals, grappling with their newfound freedom in a big city, while trying hard to keep up appearances and cutting corners on things as basic as two square meals a day. “Poverty” seems an interesting term to define a condition of living beyond one’s means. According to the National Sample Survey Organisation data available for 2011-12, those who earn more than Rs 30,000 a month, fall in the top one percent of the Indian population, as far as earnings go. For people belonging to the top one per cent of the nation’s population, it’s interesting that these young professionals are actually left scourging for spare change towards the end of the month, after the better half of it was spent on perhaps a cuppa in Starbucks or a pair of shoes that were too hard to resist. ..."

ybrao-a-donkey's humble comments. वैबीराव एक गधे के विनम्र राय . వైబీరావ్ గాడిద వినమ్ర వాణి. You have every right to differ with me. I respect your right. However, pl. examine this donkey's views also.

From 2011-12 to 2016-17, the prices have doubled. Salaries of the above class of Rs. 30,000 per month (approx. $500 per month) too might have gone up by 50% i.e. to Rs. 45,000 per month (approx. $750 per month). In other words, there is a fall in real-income, owing to price-rise. These people are said to be falling in top 1% of population. What I view is: 80% of this 1% creamy layer may regard themselves as above ordinary poor of India who constitute the 99% category. Actually, these persons too have to categorise themselves as those belonging to the bottom 99%, thus making the total population eking out precarious-existence-survival-subsistence, to 99.8%. Either this .8% class should educate itself, or some frank NGO should candidly educate them.

The question here is, when a single person finds it hard to make both ends meet in the second fortnight of the salary month, how will they, when they get wedded, manage their families with children? If a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) has to go to a Multiplex, it may cost about Rs. 2,000/-. A set of 4 persons cannot survive with an income which is barely enough for one person! That means, a person has to LOVE HIM-HERSELF and should not CREATE FAMILIES, if he-she are not to fall in a debt trap. Like a double-engined train, probably, a double-engined family may fare better, but such double engines are not available for everybody. Hence, the imperative for the SELF-LOVE and SINGLE PERSON FAMILIES.

747 (Part 1/10) Self-love need not degenerate individuals into sologamy or narcissism.

Here is a link to a webpage titled http://www.patheos.com/blogs/hedgerow/2016/01/another-lifestyle-choice-emerges-same-self-marriage/ which deals with some instances of culmination of self-love into self-marriages. Most of the examples covered in this report, relate to self-marriages by women, following all the religious ceremonies, but apparently without the consent or participation of the Church or the State. Anyway, we need not find fault with these (superficially) odd things which are happening in Developed Societies. Reason: When gay marriages are legalised, lesbian marriages are legalised, what will be wrong in legalising 'self-marriages' ?

This subject is worth writing a thousand pages about.

Self-love may not have anything to do with marriages with males, marriages with females, marriages with bisexuals and trans-genders, or self-marriages.

This effervescence, fizzy, bubbling vivacity and enthusiasm need not necessarily restrict itself only to feminine gender. Like the 'springs suppressed for long periods' when loosened, relax themselves and expand wildly, the centuries' suppressed feminine instincts may be expressing themselves with greater exuberance than may be justified. However, these expressions, instincts, exuberances etc. tend to be somewhat fluid and subjective, depending on the time and place, the environment.

Notwithstanding the prevalence of self-marriages more in feminine gender, Self-Love has become a subject worth experimenting about, by individuals, both males and females.

The above web-page dealing with SELF-LOVEs culminating into SELF-MARRIAGES has received 36 comments, which are also worth reading.

Self-love need not degenerate into sologamy or into narcissism. Self-wedding need not be compulsory for demonstrating self-love. There may not be any need to demonstrate to the world, one's own self-love. Actions speak better than speeches, written words, and demonstrations. Again actions need not be pre-contemplated and deliberate. Actions of self-love and love of others, are to be natural and spontaneous.

While narcissism and sologamies may sometimes lead to a sort of mental disorders and obsessions, self-love fuelled by circumstances and supported by a clear understanding of the concept among individuals, may not lead to psychological or psychiatric disorders. The one thousand pages necessity to write about has something to do with the need to overcome objections, and social taboos.

Self-love may not be repugnant with the broader goals of ATHEISM and TRUE SOCIALISM which I am trying to aspouse.

Self-love need not necessarily mean a degenerated mindset.
