1032 Can our Hon. Prime Minister help in promotion of Mushroom Exports from Himachal Pradesh? Or will he promote their imports from Taiwan?

Now, that the Gujarat Assembly Election 2017 Fever is complete, and Election Results are likely to pour out at any moment, now that Exit Polls are already out with almost all the Psephological Surveys predicting an Outright Victory for BJP, though it may not be as landslide as 150 seats targeted by Shri Amit Shah, BJP's President, it is hightime for the country to be back on rails of solving its Day-to-day problems. First, I apologise to my Readers for my failure to write here regularly owing to my personal health, and personal family compulsions. We shall start with a Sanskrit Verse of Bhartruhari, approx. 8th Century CE Sanskrit Poet of Great Wisdom, and its Telugu Translation by Yenugu Lakshmana Kavi, approx. 17th Century CE.

Gujarat Assembly Election Results 2017:
My personal prediction based on, what I have seen on TV Screens

I am not a psephologist. Nor, have I gone to Gujarat, to study the People's pulse personally. Hence I am subject to errors. Now, my prediction: "Unless EVMs are tampered with in critical/some/many/all (Tampering is not compulsory for every Constituency. It can be done depending on needs), there should be a 55%:45% result in favor of BJP, or Vice Versa, i.e. 45%:55%. But, as has happened to the contrary in the Uttar Pradesh Elections, almost all the results may go in favor of BJP."

English Gist: An accomplisher of tasks enjoys comforts and endures hardships while making his efforts. He does not care, consider or count the happiness or the hurdles in the process. The poet gives some examples:
1. He sleeps on luxurious beds. Sleeps on floor.
2. Devors sweet and delicious savories. Survives on vegetables.
3. Wears superior garments. Wears rags.

Equivalent Telugu Verse by YEnugu lakshmaNa kavi

ఒకచో నేలను బవ్వళించు, నొకచో నొప్పారు పూసెజ్జ పై,
నొకచో శాకము లారగించు, నొకచో నుత్కృష్టశాల్యోదనం,

The same Telugu verse in Roman Script:

When need arises, a person sleeps on floor. At a time a person will sleep on a floral bed. Once a person may survive on vegetables. At another time a person may enjoy delicious recipes. At a point of time a person may wear rags. At some other time, a person may wear lines of Great Dresses. Accomplishers of tasks will not care in their minds, about hardships and comforts. from: bhartrihari subhashitams yenugu lakshmana kavi

The Great Accomplisher of Tasks, our Hon. Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modiji; hence we can comfortably apply this verse to our beloved Prime Minister, notwithstanding what Mr. AlpEsh Thakore, the recently joined Congress Leader of Gujarat says.

What did Mr. Alpesh Thakore say?

Link kind courtesy: Click here to go to Indian Express and study the News Report http://indianexpress.com/elections/gujarat-assembly-elections-2017/alpesh-thakor-reveals-secret-of-pm-modis-fair-skin-5-mushrooms-worth-rs-80k-each-4979449/
"...Modi ji eats mushrooms from Taiwan. One mushroom costs Rs 80,000 and he eats 5 mushrooms a day. He was dark like me but he became fair because of these imported mushrooms ..."

"...The poor cannot afford the food that Modi eats. ..."

"...You cannot have what PM Modi eats because it is not a food for the poor. A source told me Modi ji has been eating it (imported mushrooms) since he was the CM of Gujarat. I have seen his earlier photos. He was dark like me, but now he has grown fairer ..."

"...If a PM consumed food worth Rs 4,00,000 a day, then his cadres must be spending a lot more. ..."

"...If a PM eats food worth Rs 4,00,000 in a day, can you imagine how much his party workers might be spending? ..."

Question: Mr. Alpesh Thakore may be mudslinging on Mr. Narendra Modi. Mr. Narendra Modi rose to top from being a Tea-seller, and it will be outrageous to say that he will squander People's Money.

I too had this doubt. I felt that Mr. Alpesh Thakore may be speaking out of Electoral compulsions. But, in 2016, it appears that Mr. Narendra Modi himself seems to have said that he is an aficionado of Mushrooms, of course of the Himachal Pradesh grown (Nationalist) Mushrooms.

Readers will please see this link: Click here to go to https://daily.bhaskar.com/news/TOP-secret-of-pm-modi-health-5419173.html, and study this news.. Quotes from this 2016 News Report of daily.bhaskar.com.

"... But very few people know that PM Modi eats mushrooms, found in Himachal, on a daily basis to keep himself active and lively. Interestingly, they cost nearly Rs 30,000 per kg. ..."

"... ...Modi himself had revealed this and he is eating these mushrooms since he was BJP national secretary for party activities in Himachal Pradesh. He had revealed this to reporters during an unofficial conversation after becoming Gujarat Chief Minister.

"... The secret of my good health is mushrooms of Himachal Pradesh. They have various health benefits,” he had reportedly said. ..."

Question: Mr. Narendra Modi may be helping the farmers of Himachal Pradesh by consuming Himachal mushrooms, paying Rs. 30,000/- per kg. He is a great Nationalist and Patriot. Why should he eat Taiwan imported mushrooms paying Rs. 80,000/-, and deprive the Himachal farmers their Rs. 30,000/-?

Ans: We do not know who manages the personal kitchen of Shri Narendra Modi, or the Official kitchen of the Prime Minister of India. We also do not know whether he has any personal kitchen or not. In case of PM's Official kitchen, the Officials in the PMO's Food Department might have found that Himachal mushrooms were of poor quality, and that they are to be replaced by Taiwan mushrooms, particularly because, banquets may be given by PM to very high level foreign guests. This substitution of Himachal mushrooms with the Taiwan mushrooms, might not have gone to the Notice of our Hon. Prime Minister. Mr. Alpesh Thakore may be trying to produce Mountains out of Molehills for Gujarat Election purposes.

Question: In the above 2016 daily.Bhaskar.com, linked to and quoted by you, Mr. Narendra Modi is reported to have said: "... ...Modi himself had revealed this and he is eating these mushrooms since he was BJP national secretary for party activities in Himachal Pradesh. He had revealed this to reporters during an unofficial conversation after becoming Gujarat Chief Minister. ..."

Ans: Pl. see the following paragraph from an Article by Shri Jay Dubashi, a Retired Senior General Secretary of BJP, who worked with Hon. Narendra Modi, when he was at that time functioning as BJP National Secretary:--

Link to read this detailed article from the Memory-lane of Shri Jay Dubashi: Click here to go to https://www.valueresearchonline.com/story/h2_storyView.asp?str=25327, and read the Article full length.

"... We used to drink lots of tea and coffee-- mostly tea and whenever we had guests or any visitors we would ask Modi to ask the canteen to send us the stuff. Although we drank gallons of tea and coffee every day, I don't recall Modi touching the stuff, for he was a very disciplined young man. He presented himself very well, in well-pressed clothes, (which apparently he washed himself), to a neat haircut, which left me wondering how he managed all that on his small allowance.

During lunch time, we would often go to nearby canteens for snacks-for that was all we could afford-and Modi often accompanied us. He was always tight-lipped about everything, and there was very little we could get out of him, though we knew he had just returned from Gujarat, there were also rumours that he had spent some time in the Himalayas.

After so many years, my memory about these things is slowly fading, but I distinctly remember Modi coming into my room one day and asking me what was the GDP of India. That stumped me, for I had no idea that he was interested in such things. I asked him why he wanted to know. 'Just like that,' he said shyly, 'I am curious.'

I explained to him-he was thirty years my junior, more like a son-I taught him how GDP was calculated and what it meant. Then I shared with him the figure, and also the GDP of US for comparison. I told him that if we divided the figure by our population, it would tell us how poor we were as a country. I was sitting in my chair, and Modi was standing before me, with a piece of paper in his hand. He smiled, got up and walked away, as if stunned by what I had told him. ..."

ybrao-a-donkey's personal view, which is not intended to be imposed on others

From the above Memory line of Shri Jay Dubashi, it may be observed that they at that time working in Delhi Office of BJP, as Secretaries, could not afford to have things other than snacks. That means, Hon. Narendra Modi might have, as Secretary in-charge of Himachal Pradesh, might have enjoyed and relished eating of Himachal Mushrooms, when he was on a visit to Himachal, on Party work. Or also, whenever he visited Himachal to supervise Party work, the local Himachal Leaders might have presented him some packets of mushrooms, which might have contributed to his health. Anyway, we have a Healthy Prime Minister of 56" Chest.

Besides, Mr. Dubashi observed in the above quote that Mr. Modi "...He presented himself very well, in well-pressed clothes, (which apparently he washed himself), to a neat haircut, which left me wondering how he managed all that on his small allowance. ...".

I do not know answer for this. We know Hon. Narendra Modi of Gujarat CM fame, wearing high-value kurtas made by an Ahmedabad Dress-maker. We know our Hon. PMOI wearing coats costing hundreds of thousands of bucks, and later getting it auctioned for Charity, when there was criticism.

There are too many contradictions and enigmas.

In your Vivekanandayb blog you have mentioned about Swami Vivekananda craving for American Green Turtles, and comparing them to their poor Indian counterparts- the Black Turtles? Hon. Narendra Modi is the 'Ekalavya' disciple of Swami Vivekananda. So what is wrong if Hon. Modi prefers Taiwan Mushrooms to Himachal Mushrooms?

Ans: This question I cannot reply, because I have no experience of eating either turtles or mushrooms. Till 2015, I do not remember any mushrooms being sold in local markets. Only recently, I have seen some mushrooms being sold in Bazars. Anyway, they are less than Rs. 100 variety. And not Rs. 30,000/- or the Rs. 80,000/- variety. During my adolescence, we used to maintain a buffalo in the warandah of our palm-leaf-thatch-hut, and at some distance a dung+hay mound in a corner. From that mound, I used to pick some buffalo-dung and make some fuel-cakes by bowling dung + paddy-husk balls, to a nearby wall. In those four years, during rainy season, mushrooms (In Telugu, these are called kukka goDugulu) used to sprout. At that time my limited knowledge was that, Sprouting of mushrooms in premises can be inauspicious. My parents used to ask me to pluck them and throw away.

Leaving aside, the above trivials and trifles one important observation

There are two views. 1. One view: Every six years in lives, personalities of individuals change. Nobody will ever remain static. 2. Second view: Personalities get etched during childhood and adolescence. Once etched, these personalities will not change, though there may be occasional appearances of 'changing' or 'going back'.

Question: Mr. Narendra Modi, during his Gujarat 2017 Campaigning, said: "...I am ready to sell tea but will never sell the country..."

Ans: I do not think that NO , repeate NO Former/Present Prime Ministers of India, whichever Party they may belong to, had gone / will go to the extent of selling the Country, albeit there may be some instances of corruption of a few hundred/thousand millions, to mobilise funds for Electioneering purposes. The phrase "Selling the Country" seems to be a hyperbole, which has come up during Election Campaign. Such things may happen in countries other than India.

If not 2019, if not 2024, if not 2029, at some point in future, Mr. Narendra Modi may cease to be PM. He may either lose his Elections, or his own Party Members may depose him. This is, assuming that future Elections will take place to Indian Parliament. In such case, will the PM go and restart his Tea Stall?

Ans. Definitely not. This going back to Old Professions happens only in case of top High Court, Supreme Court Lawyers, Retd. Judges, Doctors, film stars probably some Industrialists, because there is a temptation of regaining some lucrative practice or lucre-moola. It does not happen for tea-sellers. We can only consider such announcements as "I shall sell tea", to be some platitudes and rhetoric.

I am also of the same as Mr. Modi. In my adolescence, when I was studying X Class, I ran a tea stall for about six months, somewhat independently, and of course unsuccessfully. Now, I am a Retired Banker, and a person of rotten-bones whom Telugu Poet Late ShriShri called "Emukalu kuLLina vayasulu maLLina sOmarulAra cAvanDI", English: Oh lazy old-age fellows of rotten bones, Die!. We have to wait our death. Instead, will I ever think of going back to my tea-stall days, or buffalo-maintenance days, or leafplate-making days? Shri Shri also said: "raktam manDE Saktulu ninDE sainikulAra rA ranDi" (English: Oh soldiers with raging bloods, and Flowing Energies, Come! Come!). This also does not happen. Shri Shri himself passed away leaving his wives and offsprings, and nothing happened. So what is the lesson? Poetry is different. Platitudes and Rhetorics are different. Time and Tide waits for none. We are like bubbles, or circles of waves in a cesspool.

Of course, one will always to be tempted to say "Aging is for body, and not for mind/spirit". This also, I feel is a hackneyed-banal-trite statement.

I could do only 25%. I have to write another 75%. To come back, and continue adding / deleting / modifying.

1025 Part 2 of Yenugu Lakshmana Kavi's Telugu Translation of Bhartruhari's Vairagya Satakam

This is in continuation of my previous blog post No. 1024 Click to go to Part 1 of Telugu Vairagya Satakam, of Yenugu Lakshmana Kavi, in which I presented the first 50 verses, and had promised to present the remaining 50 verses in a few days. Now, I present the remaining 50 verses in Telugu Script. I shall try to present these verses in Roman Script also + with English gist, and also provide a comparative review of Bhartruhari's Sanskrit original Vairagya Satakam, and the Yenugu Lakshmana Kavi's Telugu Version. In the above photo, we can see the 'Pandavula Mitta cave' at Peddapuram, which is believed to have been visited by Pandavas of Vyasa Mahabharata fame. Sanskrit original's creator Bhartruhari is believed to have spent his last days at Kurukshetra (the battleground of Pandavas and Kauravas) in Hariyana State. That geographical setting might have given him great inspiration to be a true virAgi (One who freed himself from the clutches of love and hate). For our Yenugu Lakshmana Kavi, of Peddapuram, this setting of Pandavula Mitta Cave might have given an inspiration to equal Bhartrihari's Spirit of virAga (renunciation).

The remaining 50 verses of Vairagya Satakam. (100 Verses of Renunciation

English Gist: For humans, on this Earth, everywhere, everything is filled with complex fear and apprehension. There is no place/thing which is free of anxiety. To substantiate this idea, the Poet uses a figure of speech called 'kramA alankAram' ,which is approx. equal to 'respectively' in English language.

A strong person gets his danger from his enemies. A virtuous person is endangered by a wicked person. A handsome/beautiful person is endangered by disease. Lustful Enjoyment is endangered by decrepit old age. Bodies are endangered by death. Scholars face their nemesis from Arguments from Rivals. Kingdoms and houses are threatened by displacement and extermination. In any manner-method we see, the safest recourse/resort for a human is virAga (renunciation).

The Sanskrit equivalent Bhartrihari's original Sanskrit verse for this Telugu verse is:

bhOgE rOgabhayam kulE cyuti bhayam
vittee nripaalaad bhayam
mAnee dainya bhayam
balee ripu bhayam
rUpE jarAya bhayam .
s`aastree vaadibhayam
guii khala bhayam kaayee kritaantaad bhayam
sarvA vastu bhayAnvitam
bhuvi nèn`aa vairaagyam eeva abhayam .31

Bhartrihari laments that entire life of a human is full of cares and fears. He lists out: 1. Enjoying leads to diseases. 2. Having a caste, gives a fear of expulsion. 3. Money may be seized by kings (21st Century: Taxation by the Govt. and searches by the I.R.S.) 4. Honor gives an apprehension of humiliation. 5. Physical strength poses danger from enemies (A strong person challenges enemies for a fight and hence danger). 6. A beautiful body and form is anxious of losing it by lurking old age. 7. Knowledge of scriptures can lead to arguments and defeats. 8. Gentle qualities have a danger of harm from wicked persons. 9. Body itself is afraid of death. On this earth everything is frought with fear. Distaste and disengagement alone have a sense of assurance. 21st Century: Insurance takes care of some of these worries. Panic levels are lower? Insurance premia also cause burden and worry!

English gist: Everything gets defeated and nullified by something else. Birth ends with death. Comfort and happiness end with whimsical pranks of women. Youth-hood is impaired by anxiety of impending old age. Virtues get impeded by friendship with wicked persons. King gets impaired by wicked followers. Happiness is defeated by covetousness. Wealth is nullified by Deprivation and Poverty. When we think clearly, we can understand that there is nothing which is defect-free.

English gist: tarkincinan= When we closely and logically examine, we can find that Providence has not created anything as firm-robust and stable. Health gets disturbed by a hundred ailments. (Adhi=health. vyAdhi Satam=100 diseases). Wherever and whenever, prosperity and fortunes approach people, misfortunes also concurrently start pestering. Death also teases Mortals (This word has an Indo European Root. mrityu=death. mortal=One who has death). Hence, nothing is firm, robust and stable.

Luxuries are like Waves which gyrate. They ebb and wane in a minute. Lives last for a few days. Happinesses from women run only for a few days. Discriminating scholars think in this manner, try enthusiastically to know the Supreme Truth. This should be done.

1024 Part1/2 of Telugu people are fortunate to have had YEnugu lakshmaNa kavi, 17th Century AD, circa.

The above picture is the image of PanDavula Metta (or Mitta), in Peddapuram Town, Near Samarla Kota, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India. Photo is courtesy Shri Kumar 3031, Wikipedia.org. Many Towns and Villages in India have stories and legends associated with the Pandavas of Vyasa Mahabharata. The above image is believed to be a Cave, visted by Bhima, the Second brother, among the Pandavas. It is possible-probable that Pandavas might have visited South India, during their 12 year exile to Forests, after having lost their game of dice with the Kauravas. Anyway, that part is mythological, for which more historical evidences may be necessary. In the meantime, we can share the beliefs of locals.

Peddapuram is also reported to be the Native Place of the Memorable Telugu Poet Yenugu Lakshmana Kavi (also Enugu Lakshmana kavi) who is believed to have lived in the 17th and 18th Centuries. Inter Alia (among other things), Yenugu Lakshmana Kavi translated the 300 verses of the 7th Century Sanskrit Poet, whose work is known as 'subhAshita tri Sati' (Engl: 300 verses of good sayings). The first is nIti Satakam (100 verses of Ethics). The second is Sringara Satakam (100 verses of Love), and the third is vairAgya Satakam (100 verses of Renunciation). These three hundred verses, I have translated into English Prose a few years back, with original verses in Roman Script, with their English Gist. Links for those who are interested in the Sanskrit verses:

Click here to go to bhartruhariyb, to get full text of Sanskrit verses of Niti Satakam.
Click here to go to Sanskrit Sringara Satakam verses, at Sringarasatakamyb.blogspot.com.
Click here to go to Vairagya Satakam Sanskrit version of Bhartrihari, at vairagyasatakam.blogspot.com.

While building a database for storing and searching Telugu verses, I found that Telugu verses of Bhartrihari's Vairagya Satakam by Yenugu Lakshmana Kavi were not added by me. PDF books with verses in Telugu Script, and gist in Telugu language+script, are available both for purchase and free to download. But they are not in search-able digital form. Hence, I have tried to type the 100 verses of Yenugu Lakshmana Kavi's VAiragya Satakam in Telugu script, and post them here. 50 I could complete in this Part 1. Remaining 50, I shall post in a few days.

I shall also provide English Script for these verses, together with English gist. If there are any major variations between Bhartrihari's Sanskrit original source, and Lakshmana Kavi's Telugu verses, I shall try to write here my perceptions.

శ్రీరంజిత సుఖనివేశ శ్రీ సోమేశా. -ShrI ranjita sukha nivEsA, ShrI SOmESA !
English Gist:
This verse is a prayer to Lord sOmESa (Shiva) of peddApuram, the locale of our poet Shri yEnugu lakshmaNa kavi. Lord Shiva is a Great Dancer, his dance called 'Shiva tAnDavam'. It is believed that Lord VishNu (=shri ramaNa, above) provides percussion drums to Lord Shiva. Mridanga is the drum which makes subtle gentle rhythmic sounds (=dhimin dhimi). nAda bhEda krama yOga = Variations in rhythmic cycles, and the percussion and Shiva's dance play in harmony , hence 'yOga'. Shri ranjita refers to the Glory of the Dwelling of Lord sOmESa, which is described as 'sukha nivESa (=comfortable home). See the depth of the first verse itself. (This verse is in an independent Telugu verse, not used by bhartruhari in his Sanskrit original.)

ybrao-a-donkey muses: This type of verses the Europeans, Ameicans and ANZ do not have because, most English Poets were alcoholics, drug-addicts, paedophiles, with the exception of Deviants like John Milton and Christopher Maslowe. They have no time to think of, or dream of divine Tunes or Dances.

1020 Predicaments of Human Births, Bondages

I have already clarified many-a-time at this blog, that this blog is not about Spiritualism. I do not believe in existence of Spirits, and in Spiritualism. But, at the sametime, it must be made clear that Human beings cannot escape experiencing ennui or Existential Bondages and Encumbrances, which body itself inherits from its genetic construction, environment. Besides, societies, communities (castes and religions), groups (such as occupational groups), Regional attachments, National Attachments, probably International and Planetary Attachments. Listlessness(es) can also arise from burnout(s) and overexertions for valid and no-valid reasons.

Definition of Ennui as per Google Search

ennui ɒnˈwiː/ noun
a feeling of listlessness and dissatisfaction arising from a lack of occupation or excitement.
"he succumbed to ennui and despair"
synonyms: boredom, tedium, listlessness, lethargy, lassitude, languor, restlessness, weariness, sluggishness, enervation; More
malaise, dissatisfaction, unhappiness, uneasiness, unease, melancholy, depression, despondency, dejection, disquiet;
Weltschmerz: "an ennui bred of long familiarity"
antonyms: animation, contentment

Origin
mid 18th century: French, from Latin in odio(n- ), from mihi in odio est ‘it is hateful to me’. Compare with annoy.

Though I have provided a Multi-Search for Telugu Verses with a database of about 12000, very few readers seem to be using.

Hence, I have myself tried to use the php based Search facility, to examine if any further improvements can be made:-

I have used a search string బాలత్వ (English meaning: childhood). When I pressed the search query button, I got the following three results. First I am giving the verses in Telugu script, followed by Roman Script.

The first verse 'Ayur varsha Satam' is in Sanskirt language. In this verse, the 8th Century AD poet Bhartruhari questions to himself:-- 'Where is the happiness for persons?' The total life span is limited to 100 years. Half of it, i.e. 50 years is lost in nights. In the remaining 50 years, 25 years is lost in childhood, adolescence and old age. Remaining 25 years are to be distributed among 1. serving (masters) for livelihood; 2. sickness 3. separation from the beloved. Life is un-dependable, like waves of a Sea. Thus, where is the happiness for Creatures?

The second verse compares the state of a toddler with the state of a lustful youth. The word 'bittarai' is the key. Bittarai= Bewildered, confused, bewildered by what the toddler finds outside itself, i.e. environment. nalugaDala parAdu = the toddler who crawls to its four sides. In the youth, the same toddler, experiences the sensual pleasures.

The third verse has some remorse as its content. Gist: Some days have been spent in infancy and childhood. After that (pidapa), some days have been spent in embracing the breasts of women (bhAma=Damsels. kuca=breasts. Alingana=embracing. lOla=engaged in the game of. abhyunnati=progress). Some days have been spent on building a house, maintaining it, working on domestic chores. In this manner, I have picnicked. There is no comfort or happiness in this. With greater joy (here a figurative adverb is used: kAhaLin i.e. blowing my clarion, horn in exuberation), I shall serve at thy feet, Oh! Lord Rama!, the Gem among the Saviors!

The third verse used to be liked by Late Maternal Grand Mother, who underwent unbearable sufferings of life. She used to ask me to recite the verse whenever she returned from her chores as a cook in rich homes, and whenever she had some respite. For several years, I did not know who the poet of the 'bAlatvambuna konni nALLu' verse, was. Ultimately I traced it. My Readers can guess.

Added on 13th Oct. 2017. Who was the Poet of the third verse?

a) Bammera Potaraju (Potana) b) Kancharla Gopanna (Ramadasu) c) Kakarla Tyagaraju (Tyagayya) d) kavayitri Molla e) Tikkana in his nirvachanOttara Ramayanam. f) Visvanatha Satyanarayana in his Ramayana Kalpa vriksham g) Andhra Valmiki Vavilakolanu Subba Rao Ans: Pl. guess. 1013 Who gets tarnished by whom? Where is shame? Where is hunger? We shall see some Telugu verses

English may be world's, a popular language of Communication. It may be World Language of Technology, Commerce. It may/might have had numerous greatnesses, including Shakespearean Dramas. Yet, it does not mean that other languages of the World are poorer and useless in any respect. Every language has its own strengths and weaknesses. Simply because the United States has all the Destructive Weapons in the World in its pocket, or the Great(?) Britain has all the World's Black and Corrupt Stash in its pocket, or China has all the World's Foreign Exchange Reserves accumulated with its Central Bank, it doesn't mean that those countries get all rights to denigrate all other Nations in the World. I am not a fanatic of Nationalism or Fascism. Nor am I a linguistic fanatic. Telugu is one language which cannot be looked down upon by the World. It is not just because it is spoken by 100 million people across the world. For that matter, there are Indian languages like Hindi, Bengalee, Tamil which are spoken by more number of people than the Telugu speakers. Telugu is not a Top language in India itself. Today, we shall take a sample of two Telugu verses, which shows the richness of the Telugu language.

First verse is from a Telugu translation by Enugu LakshmaNa Kavi, of the Sanskrit verse by 'Bhartruhari' in his NIti Sakatam (100 verses of Ethics)

Trigger for me to quote this verse:- NavajIvana vEdam (Engl: Modern vEda) a column by Shri (Dr.) GarikapATi NarasimhA Rao, one of the foremost Telugu Temple / TV Preachers, in Andhra Jyothi Daily, Print Edition dated 30.6.2017. I express my sincere gratitude and thanks to him, for making us to recollect forgotten poets and forgotten verses.

A 'Seeker & Yogi' gets spoiled by 'sanga' (Attachment, i.e. attachment to worldly things).
An 'Adolescent' gets spoiled by (excess) affection and care.
A king gets spoiled by a bad Minister (In some countries like USA, UK, the words 'Secretary / Chancellor' are used).
second line.
A priest (can include pastors, vicars, clerics, rabbis, and other religious preachers) gets spoiled by loss to his knowledge of his scriptures
A clan gets spoiled by the birth of a wicked heir
A (person's) character gets spoiled by cruel greed
A friendship gets spoiled by arrogance and dominance (by one of the friends or both towards one another)
A crop and its harvest gets spoiled by lack of attention
A sense of 'shame' gets lost by drunkenness
Wealth(s) get lost by reckless mind
Money-s are lost by neglect and in accidents.

Second Telugu verse is by Vemana, a Mystic and Spiritualist Poet of 14th/15th Century CE

Approx. English Gist
First line:
They say 'siggu', 'siggu" (Shame, Shame. This includes a characteristic trait of bashfulness). Where can we find this 'siggu'?
Second line:
They say 'Akali', 'Akali' (Hunger, Hunger). Where can we find this hunger?
Third line:
How is it that, he does not know the 'Hidden person'?
Explanation for this line: He, here refers to humans in general, and the intellectuals and scholars, in particular. These people talk about shame and hunger which are somewhat vague, and formless attributes, which may mean thousands of things to thousands of persons. The Second half of the line 'Hidden Person' refers to the person's 'own Soul', in philosophical terminology, called 'jIvAtma' (Soul within the Creature), and 'paramAtma' (the Supreme Soul). The Poet is wondering how all these scholars and intellectuals who talk about shame and hunger, are forgetting about their own Soul which lives within their bodies.
The last line is a refrain, which can be found in all the verses of Vemana. All the verses, Vemana addressed to himself. Vinura vEma = O VEmA, listen!.

861 PRIME MINISTER IS HEAD OF GOVERNMENT. HE IS TO SPEAK WITH DIGNITY. HE IS NOT A CLOWN

Prime Minister's Post, world wide, is regarded as HEAD OF GOVERNMENT, and is honored with GREAT RESPECT. Conversely, people of any Nation expect their Prime Minister to speak with dignity. He is not a clown or joker. This expectation of Great Dignity on the part of a Prime Minister, does not as much apply to an Opposition Leader. The job of the Opposition is to criticize and make allegations. They too are expected to maintain the dignity expected of their position, but not as much as the Prime Minister. This is because 1. Prime Ministers have global exposures. 2. Usually for any country, there will be maximum one or two Prime Ministers. But, a country can have any number of opposition leaders, depending on the number of parties.

Recently, we have seen in 2016 American Presidential Elections, both the candidates have, occasionally, spoken like clowns, and they were appearing as though they were participating in a CLOWNERY CONTEST. Comparatively, between Ms. Hillary Clinton and Mr. Donald Trump, as far as CLOWNISHNESS is concerned, Mr. Trump looked like a larger clown, though factually, there may not be much difference between them.

CONTEXT
Forthcoming Elections in Uttar Pradesh. Election Rallies are in full swing. Rivals are shooting their darts against one another. Mr. Rahul Gandhi took out a damp squib of an allegation of corruption against Mr. Narendra Modi, which Mr. Prashant Bhushan, a Senior Supreme Court Advocate and Swaraj Abhiyan Party leader tried to convert into a PIL in Supreme Court. Unfortunately for Mr. Bhushan, Supreme Court did not accept the writ petition, and he was asked to produce some solid substantive evidence. Same allegation, Mr. Rahul Gandhi tried to reignite, adding some attributes like "There will be an earthquake if I speak". He wanted to speak in Parliament, but he could not get. There were demands on him to disclose the earthquake outside. What Rahul Gandhi has finally come out with were two diary notes in Sahara, and Aditya Groups, which mentioned that amounts aggrgating approx. Rs. 40 crore (Rs. 400 million) were paid to Mr. Narendra Modi, in 2013 and 2014. These were payments before the Lok Sabha Elections 2014, when Mr. Narendra Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat, and he was rehearsing himself to be a Prime Ministerial candidate on behalf of BJP Party.

FUN OR RIDICULE CANNOT BE AN ANSWER TO WHAT RAHUL GANDHI SAID

Some tit-bits from the sarcastic speech of Mr. Narendra Modi:

"...They have a young leader who is just learning to give speeches. Since the time he’s learnt to speak, there’s no limit to my happiness. ..."

"... He (Rahul Gandhi) had been going around threatening that when he will speak, there will be an earthquake. If he hadn’t spoken, there could have been an earthquake. It would have been an earthquake that people would have had to deal with for 10 years. ..."

"... There is no chance of an earthquake now that he has spoken. We can be rest assured that there is no danger of the natural calamity in sight. ..."

"...He (Gandhi) may not have realised that he has admitted the failure of the long reign of his own party, ..."

"...I wonder whether he (Singh) was giving his own report card by admitting the dismal (poverty) situation…After all, he has been prime minister for two terms and a finance minister previously. Since the 1970s he has been holding key positions. ..."

yb-a-donkey's views, which cannot be imposed on Readers:

*Important reasons for success of BJP and Mr. Modi, in 2014 Lok Sabha Elections: Not only the so called charisma of Mr. Narndra Modi, but also 1. Mr. Rahul Gandhi's & his mother's failures. 2. Failures of Mr. Manmohan Singh and Congress. 3. Religious fanatism of SOME LARGE CHUNK of people in Varanasi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. This fanatism still continues.

Nobody can say that India has not done substantial progress during the last 60 years, which includes rule by Congress, Janata 1977 experiment in which BJP too participated, Indira-Rajiv-VPSingh-PV Narasimha Rao, DeveGowda-Gujral United Front Rule, Vajpayee-Advani Rule, Manmohan Singh Rule. Notwithstanding corruption, everybody have done their best. Owing to tripling/quadrupling of population from 360 million to 1.3 billion between 1947 and 2016, all our efforts and achievements have gone in vain. Besides, spiralling of oil prices have escalated our difficulties. We have ben compelled to spend a sizable share of our budget on Defence, as we had to defend our borders against invasions and infiltrations by Pakisthan and China.

One happy feature for Mr. Narendra Modi's Government is, oil prices have touched rock bottom during the last 2 1/2 years. Now, they are again farming up because OPEC countries, Russia, and Saudi Arabia seem to gradually patch up their differences, and restrict oil production and supplies. Now, this is time for Mr. Narendra Modi to get ready for meeting RISING OIL PRICES. There is also a SERIOUS DANGER OF TERRORIST ATTACKS FROM ISIS, continuous-continual squirmishes both from China and Pakisthan.

Sometimes, it may be easy and satisfying for a leader to shake hands in peculiar ways, modulate voice in peculiar ways, and generate laughter and claps from people. But, these things are reserved for street-level (basti level) politicians. Shri Narendra Modi is a venerated R.S.S. worker, as a person endowed with great discipline. Besides, he is Prime Minister. His personality and behavior ought to become 'jewels' for the designation of the 'Prime Minister' and serve as an example to emulate for future Prime Ministers. Else, some other leader from BJP itself may arise, resort to similar gestures and speaking style, but outsmart the pioneer Shri Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister post may come and go. But, Shri Narendra Modi, should be remembered by the Nation, as INIMITABLE.

In Telugu language, there is a proverb: 'tADi nekku vAnini tala tannu vADu unTADu'. Approx. English gist: "A person felt elated when he climbed a palm tree, and was at the top. But his joy didn't last long. Some other person reached slightly higher than him, and kicked the first person's head from above." The purport of this proverb is, there is no permanent place for anybody at the top. Next person will come, and overshadow. There were days, when I believed that Mr. Polly Umrighar and Ajit Wadekar were at the top of the Indian Cricket. When things were looking hopeless, Mr. Sunil Gavaskar came-- a great contributor to Indian Cricket. Several records were set. I thought that he would be invincible and unbeatable. Then, Messrs. Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sehvag, Dhoni, Bedi, Prasanna, et al came and rewrote some records. Now the turns of Kohli, Asvin, Karun Nair et al have come. Simultaneously, there may be one or two persons who get excess awards, credits, fame, moola, fan-following, State-recognition etc. Mr. Tendulkar got his Bharat Ratna, for whatever be the undisclosed extraneous reasons. There may be unsung heroes also. Then, there may be fate-forsaken, God-forsaken (as an atheist I should not use these phrases) talented persons like Vinod Kambli, who get lost in the middle. Even in politics we see this: Mr. L.K. Advani could not reach the No. 1 level. Mr. Pranab Mukherjee too aspired for the No. 1 level. He has to satisfy with No. 1-A sort, though may be as per protocol the Supreme Commander and Head of State, still his true ambitions to become PMOI seem unfulfilled. In Capitalism, there can be no link/relationship direct or indirect, proportionate or disproportionate between talents, performances, and accomplishments.

Vocabulary notes:

The word UNIMITABLE is also correct as per Click to go to https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/unimitable. But UNIMITABLE seems to be archaic and anachronistic.
