I have already clarified many-a-time at this blog, that this blog is not about Spiritualism. I do not believe in existence of Spirits, and in Spiritualism. But, at the sametime, it must be made clear that Human beings cannot escape experiencing ennui or Existential Bondages and Encumbrances, which body itself inherits from its genetic construction, environment. Besides, societies, communities (castes and religions), groups (such as occupational groups), Regional attachments, National Attachments, probably International and Planetary Attachments. Listlessness(es) can also arise from burnout(s) and overexertions for valid and no-valid reasons.

I have used a search string బాలత్వ (English meaning: childhood). When I pressed the search query button, I got the following three results. First I am giving the verses in Telugu script, followed by Roman Script.

The first verse 'Ayur varsha Satam' is in Sanskirt language. In this verse, the 8th Century AD poet Bhartruhari questions to himself:-- 'Where is the happiness for persons?' The total life span is limited to 100 years. Half of it, i.e. 50 years is lost in nights. In the remaining 50 years, 25 years is lost in childhood, adolescence and old age. Remaining 25 years are to be distributed among 1. serving (masters) for livelihood; 2. sickness 3. separation from the beloved. Life is un-dependable, like waves of a Sea. Thus, where is the happiness for Creatures?

The second verse compares the state of a toddler with the state of a lustful youth. The word 'bittarai' is the key. Bittarai= Bewildered, confused, bewildered by what the toddler finds outside itself, i.e. environment. nalugaDala parAdu = the toddler who crawls to its four sides. In the youth, the same toddler, experiences the sensual pleasures.

The third verse has some remorse as its content. Gist: Some days have been spent in infancy and childhood. After that (pidapa), some days have been spent in embracing the breasts of women (bhAma=Damsels. kuca=breasts. Alingana=embracing. lOla=engaged in the game of. abhyunnati=progress). Some days have been spent on building a house, maintaining it, working on domestic chores. In this manner, I have picnicked. There is no comfort or happiness in this. With greater joy (here a figurative adverb is used: kAhaLin i.e. blowing my clarion, horn in exuberation), I shall serve at thy feet, Oh! Lord Rama!, the Gem among the Saviors!

The third verse used to be liked by Late Maternal Grand Mother, who underwent unbearable sufferings of life. She used to ask me to recite the verse whenever she returned from her chores as a cook in rich homes, and whenever she had some respite. For several years, I did not know who the poet of the 'bAlatvambuna konni nALLu' verse, was. Ultimately I traced it. My Readers can guess.
