1001 News Roundup, Musings and Reflections

On 29th May 2017, we have studied the issue of creating a Special Category in Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards, titled 'International Acclaimed Actress Award', probably just for the purpose of granting the award to Ms. Priyanka Chopra. Then we have asked ourselves the key question on whether the Award Granting Institution wanted to pull some crowds for its Awards Distribution function, or whether the Actress herself has approached the Academy to seek an Award. Whatever may be the reason, it appeared as though both are going to benefit. The very next day of our blog post, i.e. the 30th May 2017, Ms. Priyanka Chopra, posted her picture depicting her meeting with the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi in Berlin.

Some comments of the Netizens at the Twitter page of Ms. Priyanka Chopra are very interesting, because they show the intellectual level of Indians, who self-proclaim themselves as teachers of Bhagavad Gita to the world.
Names of the Netizens omitted.

Replying to @priyankachopra @narendramodi Big love.. 2 super heros of nation in one frame.

Personal views of ybrao-a-donkey, which are not intended to be imposed on others

It is not clear who sought the interview. Did Ms. Priyanka Chopra approach the Hon. Prime Minister (his Aids)? Or did the Hon. Prime Minister ask his Aids to check up where Ms. Priyanka Chopra is, and arrange an interview for her. Answers to this question are important because it is not unnatural for film actors to seek interviews with the Leaders of their country. But Presidents and Prime Ministers of countries taking more interest in meeting film actors may, sometimes, look odd. This is because Heads of States and Heads of Governments are believed to be hard-pressed for time, and they have hundreds of emergent and priority tasks to attend to, when compared to meeting an Actress.

If the actress herself has first approached the PM's Aids, seeking an interview with the PM, then it becomes a delicate question for the PM to deny it, though there is nothing wrong in saying 'no' because PMs and Presidents on a foreign tour may have very very tight schedule. Probably, Ms. Chopra, too might not have found fault with the denial. Anyway, Prime Minister has time in his hand to meet Film Heroines.

In newspapers, I have seen a report that some Netizens have trolled Ms. Priyanka Chopra for wearing a dress which showed her legs, before the Prime Minister. (Personally, I do not view this as an aberration). If there are dress codes for presenting oneself before Prime Ministers/ Prime Ministers, such codes will have to be informed to the persons seeking interviews. Then PM's Aids, should also keep some stocks of male and female dresses, to provide last minute help to unaware guests meeting the PM. Even temples, having dress codes, give wide publicity for their dress codes.

1000 Some Reflections on this World and India

Ms. Priyanka Chopra, Climbing Star from Bollywood to Hollywood, is entitled to her own ways, to make quick greenbacks, but why all this hullabaloo about conferring Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards to her? Dadasaheb Phalke was the Grand Old Man and the Pioneer of Indian Film Industry of the EARLY 20th Century. Government of India in 1969 constituted a 'Dadasaheb Phalke Award', the highest in the Indian Film World. Ms. Devika Rani, the heroine of the Indian Film Industry in its infancy was the first Recipient. Greats like Satyajit Ray, Shanta Ram, were among its recipients. Usually, this Award is delivered and received from the President of India, the Head of State. The latest recipient of the Award is Telugu Film Director K. Viswanath, who has produced many memorable off-the-beaten-track classical musical films. It appears that our Heroines and Heroes are not willing to wait till some of them get the coveted award from the Government of India. A parallel 'Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards' have been created to quench the thirst of the ambitious stars who have made big bucks in India or abroad, or both.

Who approaches whom for these Awards? Who pays whom for these Awards?

Indian Citizens know something about the traditional Official Dadasaheb Phalke Awards, announced and conferred by Government of India, as the Conferment of the Awards by President of India gets wide publicity both in Print and Electronic Media. But they know very little about the "Phalke Academy Awards". While this is so, a new category by name International Acclaimed Actress Award seems to have been introduced for accommodating the BollyHolly star Ms. Priyanka Chopra.

Did Ms. Priyanka Chopra approach the Academy for an Award? Has the Academy approached the actress on its own volition?

Ans: Not known.

Did Ms. Peecee donate any bucks to the Academy to induce them to introduce "International Acclaimed Actress" Award?

Ans: not known. Ordinarily, awards carry some citation, some cup/trophy/memento, and some cash. That means, the Academy has to incur some expense on these counts. Is Ms. Chopra reimbursing them their out of pocket expenses. Ans: Not known.

Is the Phalke Academy is so publicity crazy, and publicity starved, that it is compelled to invite Ms. Priyanka Chopra, so as to 'pull crowds' for their functions

Ans. May be.

Both Print Media and Electronic Media are giving so much publicity for this event. What proportion of it is paid News, and what proportion of it is free news?

Ans: Not known.

Do Yogis need Sofas, Carpets, AirConditioners, Curtains to console mourning family members of a martyr?

Ans: It appears so. For this question, this ybrao-a-donkey is incompetent to reply. Only the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, who is a self-proclaimed Yogi, can reply to this question.

Today's Telugu verse

From Sumati Satakam, by 14th CE poet BaddenAmAtya.

Approx. English gist: 1st line: When wealth comes, it comes,
2nd line: a la the water (juice) in a coconut fruit.
3rd line: When Wealth goes, it goes,
4th line: like the pulp in a stone apple fruit swallowed by an elephant.
Note: It is a 14th Century CE Deccan belief that when an elephant swallows a stone-apple, without breaking its stony epicarp-pericarp, it digests the fruit's pulp, and excretes a hollow fruit.

Purport-Discourse: When wealth comes it comes silently. When it leaves, it makes no noise. Everything takes place silently, as if it happens stealthily. So, the sofas , air conditioner, carpet, curtains, all have come and gone like 'siri'.

972 Can a poor country like India afford to spend Rs. 10 billion on a single movie?

The eight day old Movie Bahubali-2 a Conclusion, is reported to have collected approx. Rs. 8 billion (Rs. 800 Crore) in its eight days life. Print News papers, TV Channels, internet pages are agog with predictions that it will collect Rs. 10 billion (Rs. 1,000 crore) shortly. During the last fortnight there is a big hullabaloo about the Greatness of the contents of Bahubali2 in Press Media, Electronic Media, and Net. It is said that honey-bees live 45 days. Average life span of a worker ant is about five weeks. While the Bahubali-1 Beginning was reported to have gathered big moolah in its first release, it is reported that the same film's second release in March 2017, received little attention and money. Virually with all the newspapers, TV channels, net pages, day-in day-out hammering out the merits of the Bahubali-2, it has become very difficult to delineate and distinguish between GENUINE NEWS and PAID NEWS (advertisements converted into news, of course for an extra payment to the Media).

India is a very poor country, where millions of people find it very difficult to get two square meals a day. Bulk of its population is Working Class. Everybody knows big budget films try to make a quick buck, by jacking up prices of cinema tickets in the first week of release of the film, as if the film will vanish into thin air during the second week. Of course, producers and distributors blame the Exhibitors (Theatre owners), for the black-marketing of Cinema Tickets. I have come across hotel workers, auto-drivers, shop clerks and sales persons, who hardly earn about Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 9,000/- per month (Rs. 200 to 300 per day), shelling out as much as Rs. 2,000/- (about 6 to 8 days wage) to see a film of about 3 hours. They do not know what they are doing.

Some Important Questions

1. Abnormally huge remuneration paid to Heros.
2. Preferance to shot films abroad, even when suitable Indian Locations are available.
3. High rents charged by theatre owners.
4. High profile media publicity.
5. Creating unnecessary sets and settings, spending millions, just to create scenes of a few minutes, which are later, often abandoned or dismantled, resulting in loss of huge quantities of materials such as plywood.
6. Studying History, Researching into veracity and tenability of Legends, Mythologies, and Histories are more important than indulging into fictitious and imaginary questions like "Why did Kattappa kill Bahubali?".
7. May be under evil influences from Hollywood films, Indians seem to have created self-illusions that "SMALL" is not beautiful, and "Small Films" are not financially viable.
8. Media, especially those firms and Companies which have sold financial strength, should not run for dosh from excess crazy advertising and greedy-unhealthy advertising campaigns, simply because there are some millions on golden platters.
9. A dozen Joy-generating, and message-filled (not preaching) films can be produced with the same investments of one single film like Bahubali Beginning and Bahubali-2 Conclusion. Some of them will definitely succeed, though some may fail. This Film World has not become totally black and dismal. When small films are produced, risks can be spread and hedged.
10. On the other hand see: If the big budget films like Bahubal Beginning and Bahubali Conclusion tank at Box Office? In fact, had NOT the producers, directors, distributors, exhibitors have not indulged in numerous unscrupulous marketing practices for creating illusions and craze among the spectators and the people, the two films might have flopped. It is not my wish that they should flop. We should anticipate the possibility of their flopping, and their consequences. At least some lives of some distributors will be wrecked. We can see the lessons from the said-to-be failure of Mr. Pavan Kalyan's films- Gabbar Singh, and Katama Rayudu. Let us wish that Film Industry in toto, and the billions of people across the world are not hijacked and dumped into craze and idiocy, by foolish business advertising and publicity propagandas.

560 Part 1: Are filmi Capitalists afraid of anybody in this world?

Capitalists are not afraid of anybody. Even Prime Ministers and Presidents are afraid of Capitalists. How can filmi Capitalists be an exception? How can filmi music be an exception? The million dollar question is how to redeem our musicians who have been rendered bonded laborers by the Filmi Capitalists?

From Sanskrit Music Treatise "SangIta mArtAnDam".

taurya trikam tALa hInam cAlayEt purushAdhamaha
sa pApI narakam ghOram ASu gachchati sa anvayaha.

Taurya trikam means the trinity of vocal singing, instrumental accompaniment, and dance. tALa hInam means : without rhythm. cAlayEt: if a person runs. purushAdhamaha: the lowest of the humans.

sa pApI : He is a sinner. ghOram narakam ASu gachchati: He will go to hell fast. sa anvyayaha : along with his clan.

ybrao-a-donkey's humble views. I shall not insist that you agree with me.

Extreme threats do not really bring compliance.

It is true that music gets embellished and sweetened with rhythm.

But then, what is the use of threatening?

Qustion,
You are seeing the type of music we are getting in our film world, hollywood, bollywood, tollywood, kollywood, all types of woods. Do you find in today's film songs any melody, rhythm, sweetness in today's film music? Do threats like fearful hell will really frighten our Capitalists, and their slave Musicians? This Capitalist world is not afraid of anybody in Heaven, Earth, and the Nether world, including the consumers (in case of films it is the audience and the spectators).
