485 Did Swami Vivekananda have wife and children? क्या स्वामी विवेकानंदा को पत्नी पुत्र थे ? స్వామీ వివేకానందకు భార్యా , పిల్లలు ఉన్నారా ?

"...Does swami Vivekananda had wife and children?..."
This question was asked at the following website. Click to go tohttp://www.answers.com/Q/Does_swami_Vivekananda_had_wife_and_children The answer given by 22 readers was: "No". Beyond that there were no explanations or comments.

Firstly, foremost सर्व प्रथम మొట్టమొదటగా , సర్వ ప్రథమంగా

Grammar analysis:

"Does" is an interrogative pronoun of present tense. Appropriate possessive verb for this is to be "have" and not have. Alternatively, Vivekananda lived at the end of the 19th Century, i.e. the question pertains to past tense. The interrogative pronoun for past tense is "Did". Correct possessive pronoun for past tense, ought to have been "had". But, in interrogatives, the custom is to use verb form of "present tense", hence "have" seems more appropriate.

Thus we take this question in two ways:

1) Does Swami Vivekananda have wife and children?

2) Did Swami Vivekananda have wife and children?

Secondly, द्वितीय, రెండవది

99.99% of us have triple personalities. The first personality is what is acceptable to the society. The second personality is what is acceptable to us, and what we perceive to be truth. The third personality is the actual personality. To see this, we have to remove the attractive outward packing. We have to chisel out the thick outer cover, to understand the inner core. This need for removal of external make will be 500% greater for celebrities, when compared to hoi polloi. Both among celebrities and the common Indians, extra-marital affairs is quite common. Only thing is people do not reveal.

Even globally, extra-marital affairs are equally common. But developed countries have more open and transparent societies in the sense that they hide less. The moment a spouse comes to know that his/her partner is cheating, they either ignore, or go for a divorce. Not much of hide and seek. Not much of mental agony. Indians ape the developed world in areas which harm them, while rarely emulate them, when there is something to be learnt. Openness and transparency, we Indians have to learn.

Example: Swami Vivekananda wrote to Ms. Christina Greenstidal, a German girl, living in U.S. Many admirers of Swami Vivekananda believe that the relationship between SV and Ms. Christina Greenstidal, is that of a (adopted) father and (adopted) daughter.

Context: Swamiji was on ship enroute to New York, via London. Ms. Greenstidel was, at that time in London. Swamiji wrote to her from Marseilles on 23rd July 1899:-
"... Come to the Dock if that is possible and discreet. Yes, it is discreet, as there is a lady in the party and others will come to meet her. Only, Christina, don't if you feel the least tired or unwell. I hope you are enjoying London immensely.

The Orientals do not like any effusion of feeling. They are trained to hide all expression. ..."

Here two questions arise. Why should a daughter (adopted daughter) be discreet in coming to meet at dock her (adopted) father arriving in a ship from a distant land? Why should she hide her effusion of feelings in London?

If it were in India, say at Mumbai port/airport we can say that Orientals do not like effusions. (Recall, if I am not wrong, the incident of Shilpa Shetty kissing Prince Charles at Mumbai Airport and the outcry that followed). Londoners might not have bothered about the effusion of feelings by Ms. Christina towards an Indian monk. It was the other way around. He also didn't like the Orientals coming on the ship to know about the effusions of Ms. Christina towards him. Swamiji might have thought, as a Hindu monk, if he allowed Ms. Christina to kiss him or embrace him, it might cast a shadow on his respectability / worshippability / reverability.

Swamiji wrote to Ms. Christina Greenstidel from Boston on 22nd March 1896.
Herewith [words excised] to countersign it and put it [words excised]. I am afraid I have made a mistake in writing Miss to your name. In that case you will have to sign also as Miss etc.

I am enjoying Boston very much, especially the old friends here.

What type of documents a father may be sending to his daughter for countersignature? Why should Swamiji worry about his making a mistake in writing "Miss" to her name? Simply because he wrote her name as Miss, why should she sign as "Miss"? Did she want to sign as Mrs.? Why the words in square brackets were excised (cut)? A copy of this document may be lying either with the legal heirs of Ms. Christina Greenstidel or with the monasteries of Swami Vivekananda which possess the office copies of the outward mail of Swamiji. They can't publish only outbox, and withhold inbox and other important documents.

Swami Vivekananda wrote to Ms. Christina Greenstidel from Belur Math on 2nd Sept. 1901:--
""... They all are expected here in November, and will have a "hot time in this old town" etc. I pray you can come, and the Mother will open the door for it. I cannot but say my prayers mostly have been heard, up to date.".

This "Hot Time in Old Time" according to a Google Search, seems to be an Opera song popular in Chicago of those days. Why should a father or monk like Swami Vivekananda who renounced everything in this world crave for "Hot Time in Old Time" and ask his daughter / a foreign girl to come to India?
