1145 Online Clickable MCQs Test, Current Affairs in Telugu Language

These days the path has become very slippery for writers and bloggers, to write on anything. The Writers/ Bloggers can never be able to know what is going to hurt, and what is not going to hurt any individual Reader, or Group of Readers, or the Government or the Ruling Party. There will be trols saying "Why you have done written such and such thing", and "why you have not written about such and such things". Anybody can troll; Pseudo Hindutva groups, Pseudo Marxist Groups, Pseudo Secularist Groups, etc. etc. Hence, I request my Readers to bear with me, about whatever I write. I have no ill-will against anybody. I have no agenda. In the above picture, Readers can see three poems of 15th/16th Century CE, Telugu Poet Vemana. Recently, his Birth Anniversary went by. But, the Andhra Pradesh Government did not bother about it. There is a News Report in Andhra Jyothi Print Edition that Karnataka Government has commemorated his Birth Anniversary.

The above picture is a screenshot of three Verses of Vemana. The screenshot is from a book containing about 275 verses of Vemana (Vemana wrote / spoke about 5,500 in Telugu Language, which are available as a Scanned pdf file on internet FREELY.). CP Brown (18th Century CE) translated about 2,500 verses as far as my knowledge goes. In the 5,500 Telugu Verses book, there is no English Translation. In the 2,500 Verses English Translation of CP Brown, Telugu verses have not been printed. Only "gists" are printed. In the 275 Verses book, we can see both the Telugu Verses and the English Translations of Late CP Brown. All the boks are available on Internet free of cost. They are al in Public Domain, that means anybody can translate, write commentaries, publish etc. etc, without much worry about copyright violations.

ybrao a donkey's observations, about the above three verses
In the translations of all the three Verses Brown was very gentle. He took only main gist, without going into details. I shall try to cover some words Vemana used in the first Verse 270: Last line: 'iruku yOni cUsi parama yOgamu mAnunu'. Telugu phrase 'iruku yOni' means narrow vulva/vagina. Even a very great scholar, when he sees a narrow vulva/vagina can stop his basic goal of Union with Supreme Power. As an Atheist, I can call this Union as Self-realisation (Understanding of 'Who am I' ). A similar question, the answer to which Buddha had explored.

Verse 271: Brown has not touched the word 'tirupatula'. The word 'Tirupati' refers to India's richest Pilgrimage Temple, "Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams TTD". Tirumala Venkateswara Temple is the top of a Mountain Range of Seven Hills. The City at the foothill is Tirupati City. Renigunta is its nearest International Airport. This Temple is visited almost by every Indian from the President /PM/Home Minister/CJI of India to the mendicant /cooly at the bottom. The Poet Vemana used a plural 'tirupatula'. It suggests that Vemana used it as a Common Noun for all places of pilgrimage in India. The Former Governor of United Andhra Pradesh used to visit Tirumala at least once a month. It has become a practice for most Supreme Court /High Court Judges to visit Tirumala as a first duty after they assume charge as Judges.

What did Vemana say: Fools roam holy places imagining that deity is not to be found where they dwell. They merely exercise their limbs. ybrao-a-donkey: Now, only poor people exercise their limbs standing in queues.
Vemana: Fools squander their money. ybrao-a-donkey: Poor persons may drop their offerings in Donation Box. Rich persons too drop gold and moneys into Donation Box, but that is a bargain with the Deity. The bargain may be a percentage of what they get out of their blood sucking businesses such as blackmarketing, bootlegging, smuggling, politicking.

TODAY'S highlights:

  • TODAY'S untrivia:

TODAY'S EPISODE FROM VYASA MAHABHARATA ENGL. TRANSL.: :

■VYASA MAHABHARATA TRANSLATED BY Ganguli, BOOK3, BOOK OF FOREST/m03203.♞:

♛The Mahabharata, Book 3: Vana Parva: Markandeya-Samasya Parva. This part is introduction to the Story of Kausika, a Brahmin getting advice from a butcher DharmavyAdha.♝

♛Vaisampayana said, "O you foremost of the Bharata race, king Yudhisthira then asked the illustrious Markandeya a difficult question about morality, saying, 'I desire to hear, O holy one, about the high and excellent virtue of women.♝

♛ I desire to hear from thee, O Brahmana, discourse about the subtle truths of morality.♝

♛ O regenerate Rishi, O best of men, the Sun, the Moon, the Wind, the Earth, the Fire, the father, the mother, the preceptor—these and other objects ordained by the gods, appear to us as Deities embodied! All these that are reverend ones are worthy of our best regard.♝

♛ So also is the woman who adoreth one lord.♝

♛ The worship that chaste wives offer unto their husbands appeareth to me to be fraught with great difficulty.♝

♛ O adorable one, it behoveth you to discourse to us of the high and excellent virtue of chaste wives—of wives who restraining all their senses and keeping their hearts under complete control regard their husbands as veritable gods.♝

♛ O holy and adorable one, all this appears to me to be exceedingly difficult of accomplishment.♝

♛ O regenerate one, the worship that sons offer to their mothers and fathers and that wives offer to their husbands, both seem to me to be highly difficult.♝

♛ I do not behold anything that is more difficult than the severe virtue of chaste women.♝

♛ O Brahmana, the duties that women of good behaviour discharge with care and the conduct that is pursued by good sons towards their fathers and mothers appear to me to be most difficult of performance.♝

♛ Those women that are each devoted to but one lord, they that always speak the truth, they that undergo a period of gestation for full ten months— there is nothing, O Brahmana, that is more difficult than that is done by these.♝

♛ O worshipful one, women bring forth their offspring with great hazard to themselves and great pain and rear their children, O bull among Brahmanas, with great affection! Those persons also who being always engaged in acts of cruelty and there by incurring general hatred, succeed yet in doing their duties accomplish what, in my opinion, is exceedingly difficult.♝

♛ O regenerate one, tell me the truths of the duties of the Kshatriya order. It is difficult, O twice-born one, for those high-souled ones to acquire virtue who by the duties of their order are obliged to do what is cruel.♝

♛HASINA TAKES UP NRC WITH MODI, news Headlines indicate.♝

♛ Now, he had an uncle named Swetaketu who was the same age with himself.♝

INDIAN GOVERNMENT'S DISINVESTMENT OPERATIONS, some personal musings. :
♛According to News Reports, Govt. is on a Sleepless Mission to sell its Public Sector Units, both Profit Making and Loss Making. Disinvestment is on the anvil, both in Robust and Sick Government Companies.♝
♛Indian Industrialists may come forward to purchase even Sick Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) because they have valuable Urban Lands which can be developed into Real Estate, both Housing and Commerical.♝
♛Funniest part: Such Indian Industrialists do not buy the PSUs by investing funds from their own Pockets. They borrow from Public Sector Banks. If the adventures of the Indian Industrialists misfire, losses fall on Public Sector Banks. And the losses of the PSBs are made good by the Government through RECAPITALISATIONs. Thus, if something is sick in Public Sector, that will remain with the Government only through a circuitous route.♝
♛Many Private Sector Industrialists could recover back their investments by fudging Profit & Loss Accounts and Annual Balance Sheets. They could easily manipulate the Share Prices of their Companies in BSE/NSE, and palm of their overvalued shares to Gullible Foreign Institutional Investors, and the Indian Public Sector Mutual Funds. ♝
♛Indian Private Sector Companies also whether healthy or sick, own large swathes of lands in Cities and Metros. When Foreign Investors buy shares in Indian Companies whether through FDI route, or FPI route or through some other route, they become indirect owners of the lands belonging to the Indian Companies. ♝
♛This type of self-selling does not appear to have been done by Pakistani Companies. The result is, Pakistan seems to be facing a Foreign Exchange Payments crisis.♝
♛India sold itself (=its lands through Company shares), and is having a bloated body, which is not good for its long term Health. India seems to be riding a tiger. It can neither continue to ride, nor alight from the tiger. In both cases it will be devored by the tiger. Mr. Manmohan Singh and his successors should take responsibility for this. (9930)♝

Relevant anecdote: A person went to his wife's brother's brinjal garden, oneday. There, he liked the brinjals on the plant, and plucked some, to have curry made by his wife i.e. the sister of the garden's owner. ♛Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy is expected to be a Lieutenant to Mr. KCR in his fight with the Ruling BJP at Centre.♝
♛In harassing Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu , the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh to extreme levels, Mr. Jagan seems to be getting directions from Mr. KCR. Every dog will have its own day. PAKISTHAN PRESIDENT has to explain :
♛Pakisthan President has to explain why the population of Non-Muslims in Pakisthan fell from 23% in 1947 to 1.5% in 2019? Assuming that Freedom Struggle and Independence of East Pakistan which has a slightly higher rate of non-Muslims, into Bangla Desh in 1971, has caused the fall in New Pakistan, it can't go down to as low as 1.5%. The drastic fall shows that Non-Muslims in Pakistan were forced to convert to Islam or leave the country, through disincentives, discriminatory treatment, and harassment. The Hindu population in Bangla Desh too dwindled owing to persecution and harassment.♝
♛While some Indian rulers seem to yearn divide India into Hindu and non-Hindus, Mr. Imran Khan itches to divide the World into Muslims and Non Muslims.♝
♛EURACANZ (Europe+ America, Canada, Australia+ Newzealand) seems to make the entire Earth a Christian Planet. Attempts of the EURACANZ Missionaries in the name of Service, to convert non-Christians into Christianity through monetary inducement and fallacious propaganda, has resulted in generation of insecurity in the Non-Christian World. Islamic World took it seriously and just as a tortoise tries to hide itself within its shells, Islamic people were made to hide themselves behind the preachings of Islamic Clerics and Mullahs.♝
♛India was never a Martial Country. Indians were never war-mongerers. In fact, their love for non-violence, probably owing to the precepts of Gautama Buddha and Vardhaman Mahavira, Indians did not evolve themselves into bellegerence. Consequently for thousands of years they faced invasions from numerous races from Arabia, Persia, Turkey, South Europe, North Europe, Baltics and Central Asia. Though suffering various degrees of slavery from these races, Indians every invader-race-tribe into the country, and evolved into a Newer Nation. Of course, it also resulted in birth of an obnoxious Caste System.♝
♛The entry of the two grossly greedy proselytizing Religions having their Headquarters in Mecca, Rome, England (&Europe,America) brought a sweeping change in the Social Structure of India. (9930) ♝

ENFORCEMENT DIRECTORATE AND CBI SEEMS TO HAVE BECOME ONE-SIDED PLIABLE TOOLS IN THE HANDS OF RULING PARTY POLITICIANS. :
♛Everybody in India knows that Indian politicians are corrupt from top to bottom. This is irrespective of the Parties they belong to . As Politicians hop from one party to another just as crows fly from one tree to another, there is very little among them to distinguish. ♝
♛The latest in the ED's adventure is: Registering of a case against /or naming Senior Maharashtra NCP Leader and Former Union Minister, Mr. Sharad Powar, in respect of Money Laundering alleged to have been done in Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank.♝
♛One politician commented: "Nearly 75 per cent of those who have taken away the MSCB's monies are now with the BJP-Sena. If the ED claims to be impartial and not working under the government's directions, they should first catch those who siphoned off the bank's funds and now sitting cosy in the ruling party.." ♝
♛ybrao-a-donkey's personal observation: They may be sitting cosy both in Ruling Party and the Opposition Parties. Losers are the People. Reason: Reserve Bank of India has placed restrictions on common people withdrawing more than Rs. 1000/- from the affected MSCB, which has around 150 branches all over the country.♝
♛The question is not whether Mr. Pawar is guilty or not. That, Courts will decide, when proper investigations take place, and Prosecution is done as per Law. The question is why synchronise the booking of Money Laundering Case with Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019? Why so late? What the Ruling Party is doing between May 2014 and Aug. 2019? (9926)♝

FATHER OF INDIAN NATION, who? :
♛Mr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office, seems to be in a hurry to respond, when he said "Not proud, Not Indian!♝
♛Context: Mr. Donald Trump, calling the Prime Minister of India 'Father of India'. For historical reasons, Indians regard and revere Mahatma Gandhi, as Father of Nation. For them, Patel was Sardar and Man of Steel. Indian children of those days called Jawaharlal Nehru, Chacha Nehru. They were all builders of Indian Nation, along with hundreds of thousands of Freedom Fighters, whether named or unnamed.♝
♛Trump was Head of one of the Powerful countries of the World, owing to its Financial and Military Prowess. He might have wanted to please the Head of the Government of India, who has supported Trump's 2020 American Presidential Candidature. ♝
♛Indians must always treat these 'praises' made by Heads of States, and Heads of Governments, as just transient bubbles of foam. They are just courtesy remarks with no serious intent in them. Serious intent we can identify only when such remarks are made after deep study, and without 'self-interest' in these extolments. Else, they will become only casual compliments, which will be forgotten once the need with the exalted leader vanishes.♝
♛For instance, earlier American President praised Israeli PM Netanyahu as a Great Leader. Once Netanyahu loses election, or ceases to be Israeli PM, he will become a persona non grata to U.S., till such a time he shows prospects of his getting back to Power. We should not forget between 2002 and 2014 when Mr. Narendra Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat, US refused to grant him a Visa to enter USA. (9926)♝

GOVERNMENTS SHOULD NOT PUNISH UPRIGHT OFFICIALS :
♛Context: Mr. Surendra Babu, an IPS Officer and the Managing Director of (Residual) Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has been abruptly and unceremoniously removed, and has not been given a Posting to join. Mr. Krishna Babu, Principal Secretary, Roads and Buildings was given an Additional Charge.♝
♛Reason is said to be: Mr. Surendra Babu did not yield to the instructions of the Powers that be, to pay a rent of Rs. 60 (approx. $.90) per km. for hiring Private Electronic Buses which are going to be introduced soon. It appears that he was prepared to pay only Rs. 36 (approx. $0.50) per km., in line with the rent paid by the neighboring State Telangana.♝
♛It is not clear why the Government of Residual Andhra Pradesh is in such a hurry. If Mr. Surendra Babu has erred, then the Government should have appointed two independent Committees of COSTING experts to arrive at the basic Fixed Costs + Variable costs + Normal profits of renting an Electronic Bus. ♝
♛Then, the Government should have compared the Reports of the Two Costing Experts Committees to examine similarities and variances. After that it would have become easier to convince Mr. Surendra Babu about the reasonableness of Rs. 36 or Rs. 60 or some via media Rent, per km. ♝
♛I hope that the new Incharge Mr. Krishna Babu will not become a Pliable Tool in the hands of those Powers-that-be. Rulers of Government of Andhra Pradesh whether Politicians or Top Bureaucrats (Chief Secretary etc.) should keep in mind that there will be shortage of Upright Officials, if their morale is affected. Only spoons and stooges will be left out in Command. (9926)♝

FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT, does liberalising FDI revive Growth in India? :

♛It must be a matter of extreme regret that even after 71 years of Independence, India is begging for Foreign Investments to promote its Economic Growth.
♛Growth can also be promoted through domestic private investments. Many Industrial Houses like Tatas are investing abroad. Why they are limping in investing in India?
♛India's domestic Industrialists are not invested in Manufacturing. They want easy profits.
♛Government of India can also do some Keynesian Pump-priming, so that Investment and Income Multipliers work.
♛Increase in productive expenditure by GOVERNMENT OF INDIA can also facilitate Income and Investment Multipliers because, Productive Expenditure raises demand for Tangible goods, apart from increasing Factor Incomes. (99618).

HOW RIGHT IS ADMIRAL ARUN PRAKASH, RETD. NAVY CHIEF 2004-06! :
♛Admiral Arun Prakash, delivering Prem Bhatia Memorial Lecture at Delhi on 12th Aug. 2019, is reported to have observed:
♛ China is moving ahead in areas like artificial intelligence and robotics and it would be a waste of time if India distracts itself by talking about temples and mosques.
♛For our whole existence as an independent nation, we have seen and suffered from these fissures — linguistic, religious, caste etc. These conflicts have continued throughout our independent existence.
♛What we need to do is to try and tamp them rather than to exploit them... China is talking about artificial intelligence, robotics and machine learning and all that. And if we are going to talk about temples and mosques and so on, then obviously we are going to waste time.
♛Our actual preparation should have been to ward off Chinese pressure. They don't have to fire a bullet. There are many other ways of pushing India. And if we prepare to counter China, then Pakistan would automatically be taken care of. ybrao-a-donkey: How right is Admiral Arun Prakash! (9913)

HOWDY MODI: Will it benefit India?
        :
      1. Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India is an Event Master. No wonder he addressed a 50,000 Indian diaspora attended Mega Event Howdy Modi at Houston, Texas.

      2. He addressed similar events in U.S. in 2015, and 2016. What were the benefits that accrued to Indian common people from those Mega Events?

      3. What would have been the expense of each of these three Events? Probably, a part of it, GOVERNMENT OF INDIA may be bearing. Part of it, the NRIs and PIOs may be bearing. Definitely, the American Government will not bear anything.

      4. The Howdy Modi Event is reported to have been attended by Mr. Donald Trump also. Of course, there is some Presidential Election heat in US. Indian Diaspora is also a Vote Bank in US Presidential Elections. Mr. Trump will not like to neglect existing and prospective Vote Banks.

      5. Economic Analysts will try to assess from the Howdy Modi Mega Event-- who has extracted more from the other i.e. whether Mr. Trump extracted more Trade and Tariff benefits from India, or whether Mr. Narendra Modi extracted more Trade, Tariff, and Immigration Benefits from USA? For this, we have to wait.

CORPORATE TAX REDUCTION IN INDIA: Will it really help in raising the Growth Rate?
      :
    1. Ans: The Savings made by Corporates owing to reduction of Corporate Tax, they may not invest in Manufacturing Activities in the same Companies or in some other Companies.

    2. Corporates prefer to invest their surpluses into Non-productive Investments like Commodity Speculation, Gold Speculation, Stock Market Speculation, Real Estate Speculation.

    3. If surpluses are still left, Corporates will buy Properties in London. If there is more money, they will buy Islands , Yatches, and Private Aircraft.

    4. Corporates not only use their own Profits, Reserves, and other surpluses for Speculation and Investment abroad, but also they are capable of diverting Loan Funds obtained from Indian Private and Public Sector Banks, as there is poor supervision in Indian Banks, about end use of funds.

    5. Today, if we buy a biscuit packet, with Unit price of Rs. 101 per kg, we have to pay GST @ 18%. And, we are not sure whether the Biscuit Manufacturer will remit that 18% to Government or not. Is a biscuit packet with a Unit price of Rs. 101 per kg. a luxury? And one large Biscuit Company paid a dividend of 1500% during 2018-19! Of course, one can always say that the share price of that Company is Rs. 2,867/-, and the effective yield is only 0.52%. Who asked the foolish Investors to push the Share Price to Rs. 2,867/-, of the Company's share which has a face value of Rs. 1/-? Owing to artificial uplift of share prices, though the divident rate is 15 times the face value, effective return appears low! Those foolish Investors should have started their own Biscuit Manufacturing Company! They do not start. This is the bane of India.

CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS, are they not possible without intimidation of suspects in Police Stations?
      :

    1. Everyday, we see in Print/Electronic Media news about individuals committing suicides after being threatened by investigating officials or after being harassed with third degree methods.

    2. The Police officials know that Confessional Statements obtained from Accused, using coercive methods do not really serve as valid evidence in Courts.

    3. The intent of the Police Officials in using third degree methods, appear to be that if the Accused persons show them places where they have hidden weapons and other articles relating to the crime, such articles seized with their help, will serve as acceptable evidence.

    4. Suspects belonging to the Poor and downtrodden Sections seem to be at the receiving end of the threats and tortures in Police Stations. Unable to bear such tortures, sometimes poor persons confess the crimes, though they are not guilty.
