Pope Francis may be, by beatifying and canonising Mother Theresa, may be repaying the debt which the Catholic Church owes to Mother Theresa for spreading Christianity in India. He may rejoice for her unforgettable service in increasing the numbers of Catholics in India. Of course, the Pope is selfish in the sense that he thinks about spreading his own brand of Christian Religion, disregarding the incalculable damage the conversions which take place in the name of SERVICE TO HUMANITY, do to native cultures in various countries, calling them pagan and disparaging them.
While nobody grudges the service to humanity which the missionaries may do by serving poor in underdeveloped countries, one question will always remain !!! "Won't Yehova and Jesus be happy, be pleased, and be obliged to missionaries, without converting people into Christianity?"

782 Let the Compassionate Liberal Progressive Pope Francis sacrifice his right of appointment of Bishops in Sovereign countries like India.

Pope Francis, the present and the 266th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, has been in news, showing some progressive approaches, distinct from his predecessors. May be because, he is trying to steer his Church, in tune with the changing world, which today favors gay, lesbian, transgenders. He might have recognised the forthcoming challenges for his Church. Or, he might have been, personally a very liberal person. According to Reuters (Click here to see their report) , he has asked forgiveness from gays, poor, and women for its past treatment towards them.

"...I think that the Church not only should apologize ... to a gay person whom it offended but it must also apologize to the poor as well, to the women who have been exploited, to children who have been exploited by (being forced to) work. It must apologize for having blessed so many weapons. ..."

FORGIVENESS, NOT JUST APOLOGY

Are homosexuals, in Pope's view unchaste? Pope ought to have probably said: "Who am I to judge, what is sinful, and what is not sinful, and which acts are chaste and which acts are not chaste?"

If at all there were to be any objections to gay acts, they have to come from 1) medical grounds 2) criminal social behavior grounds.

MEDICAL GROUNDS

Medical grounds may relate to the possibility of sexually transmitted diseases spreading when homosexual intercourses are performed in anuses instead of the normal vulvae. This tightening or liberalisations, the Pope ought to have left out to the Medical Experts.

CRIMINAL SOCIAL BEHAVIORAL GROUNDS

Criminal social behavior grounds may relate to: SOME homosexually oriented persons resorting to misrepresentations, frauds, physical coercions, using undue influences and dominative approaches to attract partners into intercourses. This area could also have been left out to the legal experts. For their aid, some suggestions such as some transparent methods of communications while inviting partners, some behavioral codes, some dress codes, some conversational codes, cohabitational methods, could have been suggested.

The terms "sinful" and "chaste/unchaste" are too vague to define.

Well, it is the internal affair of Indian Roman Catholicism, whom to appoint and whom not to appoint as Bishops, their eligibilities etc. etc.

I can only add one thing. Our Pope Francis is so liberal. Why should he retain himself the prerogative or the right of appointment of Bishops in far off countries like India, and places like Guntur? This could have been decentralised to some Arch Bishop or Cardinal in the Delhi Headquarters of Roman Catholicism in India. Or alternatively, the Diocese of Guntur Society members, could have themselves elected their Bishop through a secret ballot, supervised by Arch Bishop's / Cardinal's representatives from Delhi.

India is a sovereign country. Indians are free citizens, irrespective of their religions. Why should, approx. 1000 Bishops in India be appointed by means of decrees from Rome? Let our compassionate Pope Francis ponder over, and decide. If he liberalises, his work burden will also get reduced. Rev. Pope! Kindly rethink.
