1013 Who gets tarnished by whom? Where is shame? Where is hunger? We shall see some Telugu verses

English may be world's, a popular language of Communication. It may be World Language of Technology, Commerce. It may/might have had numerous greatnesses, including Shakespearean Dramas. Yet, it does not mean that other languages of the World are poorer and useless in any respect. Every language has its own strengths and weaknesses. Simply because the United States has all the Destructive Weapons in the World in its pocket, or the Great(?) Britain has all the World's Black and Corrupt Stash in its pocket, or China has all the World's Foreign Exchange Reserves accumulated with its Central Bank, it doesn't mean that those countries get all rights to denigrate all other Nations in the World. I am not a fanatic of Nationalism or Fascism. Nor am I a linguistic fanatic. Telugu is one language which cannot be looked down upon by the World. It is not just because it is spoken by 100 million people across the world. For that matter, there are Indian languages like Hindi, Bengalee, Tamil which are spoken by more number of people than the Telugu speakers. Telugu is not a Top language in India itself. Today, we shall take a sample of two Telugu verses, which shows the richness of the Telugu language.

First verse is from a Telugu translation by Enugu LakshmaNa Kavi, of the Sanskrit verse by 'Bhartruhari' in his NIti Sakatam (100 verses of Ethics)

యతి సంగంబున బాలుడాదరముచే జ్యాభర్త దుర్మంత్రిచే
yati sangambuna, bAluDadaramu cE, jyA bharta dur mantri cE
శృతి హానిన్ ద్విజుడు, అన్వయంబు ఖలుచే, క్రూరార్తిచే శీలము
Sriti hAnin dvijuDu, anvayambu khalucE, krUrArti cE SIlamu
ఉధ్ధతిచే మిత్రత చూపులేమి కృషి మద్యప్రాప్తిచే సిగ్గు
uddhati cE mitrata, cUpu lEmi krishi, madya prApti cE siggu
దుర్మతి చే సంపదల్ నశించున్ చెడు నర్థంబుల్ ప్రమాదంబునన్
durmati cE sampadal naSincun ceDun arthambul pramAdambunan.

Approx. English Gist:
A 'Seeker & Yogi' gets spoiled by 'sanga' (Attachment, i.e. attachment to worldly things).
An 'Adolescent' gets spoiled by (excess) affection and care.
A king gets spoiled by a bad Minister (In some countries like USA, UK, the words 'Secretary / Chancellor' are used).
second line.
A priest (can include pastors, vicars, clerics, rabbis, and other religious preachers) gets spoiled by loss to his knowledge of his scriptures
A clan gets spoiled by the birth of a wicked heir
A (person's) character gets spoiled by cruel greed
A friendship gets spoiled by arrogance and dominance (by one of the friends or both towards one another)
A crop and its harvest gets spoiled by lack of attention
A sense of 'shame' gets lost by drunkenness
Wealth(s) get lost by reckless mind
Money-s are lost by neglect and in accidents.

Second Telugu verse is by Vemana, a Mystic and Spiritualist Poet of 14th/15th Century CE

సిగ్గటంచనఁ బడు సిగ్గునెచ్చోనుండు
siggaTancana baDu siggu eccOTan unDu
ఆకలనుచు నుందు రాకలేది
Akalanucun unduru AkalEdi
దాఁగియున్న వానిఁ దానేల యెఱుఁగఁడో
dAgi yunna vAnin tAnEla ErungaDO
విశ్వదాభిరామ వినుర వేమ!
viSvadAbhirAma vinura vEma.

Approx. English Gist
First line:
They say 'siggu', 'siggu" (Shame, Shame. This includes a characteristic trait of bashfulness). Where can we find this 'siggu'?
Second line:
They say 'Akali', 'Akali' (Hunger, Hunger). Where can we find this hunger?
Third line:
How is it that, he does not know the 'Hidden person'?
Explanation for this line: He, here refers to humans in general, and the intellectuals and scholars, in particular. These people talk about shame and hunger which are somewhat vague, and formless attributes, which may mean thousands of things to thousands of persons. The Second half of the line 'Hidden Person' refers to the person's 'own Soul', in philosophical terminology, called 'jIvAtma' (Soul within the Creature), and 'paramAtma' (the Supreme Soul). The Poet is wondering how all these scholars and intellectuals who talk about shame and hunger, are forgetting about their own Soul which lives within their bodies.
The last line is a refrain, which can be found in all the verses of Vemana. All the verses, Vemana addressed to himself. Vinura vEma = O VEmA, listen!.
