A learned friend of mine has emailed me extremely timely and useful links to appreciate and understand the technical aspects of the tamperability of EVMs used by India- the World's Largest Democracy, nearly since the advent of the 21st Century in its Elections. Here are two important links to the live topic of TAMPERABILTY OF ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES USED IN INDIA as against the claim of the Election Commission of INdia, that Electronic Voting Machines used in India ARE ABSOLUTELY TAMPER-PROOF. yb-a-donkey's view: Audi alterim partem (Hear the other Party) seems to be missing at the Election Commission. The views of Shri Arvind Jha, an alumni of IIT Kharagpur, and Shri Hari K Prasad, deserve to be heard, and examined by a Committee of Technical Experts.

“ECI doing the mistake once gain, challenging techies is like falling into their own trap.”
"...ECI shud first invite for an open security audit in EVMs to list out all vulnerable touch points for criminals and secure wrap one by one."
Though not keen to take up the EC challenge this time, Prasad continues to maintain that EVMs are vulnerable to hacking. "...EVMs without VVPAT [voter verified paper audit trail] are vulnerable"
"...No electronic machine is secure without a tangible receipt that can be verified. Electronics can always be manipulated. It’s just a matter of understanding the technology. ..."
y6b-a-donkey's views not intended to be imposed on others
There is/can be no link between the VVPAT [voter verified paper audit trail], and the vulnerability of EVMs after election, and before counting. Receipt will be useful for production as evidence in courts. But Receipts cannot prevent tampering of EVMs during their storage waiting counting. Machines may be sealed. Strong Rooms may be sealed. Yet, we cannot rule out the possibility of tampering using remote devices such as WIFI with / without the help of Officials controlling Paswords. Production of the Printed Receipt in Court will only prove the fact only for that particular vote, and that particular voter. Physical comparison of the printed receipts with the counted data file used in EVM, is physically difficult. One solution may be, that backup(s) of data in each EVM is taken and preserved separately for comparison in case of disputes.
Come what may, I am not in favor of going back to PAPER BALLOT SYSTEM, which is frought with numerous difficulties and risks when compared to EVMs. Our next step should be to go to Mobile/Laptop based Voting Systems, whereby voters can vote from their own places of work / residences at their convenient time. Of course, we have to do lots of homework and preparations to make the Internet based Mobile based Voting Systems more fool-proof, tamper-proof.
SELF GOALS OF MR. ARVIND KEJRIWAL
Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, AAP Chief, and the Chief Minister of Delhi seems to be passing through a poor form (common to cricketers and politicians, both of whom entertain and indulge in superstitions and consult astrologers and GodPersons), and through rough patches owing to his own self-goals.
We shall start with his frequent blaming of EVM Tampering, whenever AAP faces an Election mishap. In Feb. 2015 Elections to Delhi Assembly, his party won 67 seats out of 70. BJP was in power at that time, and it was on a winning spree right from the 2014 May General Elections. Top Leaders of BJP might have received the greatest shock of their lives, when then saw the Delhi Assembly Election Results. Prior to 2015 Delhi Assembly Elections Mr. Kejriwal conducted a rally on his apprehensions of EVM tampering. When the Election Results came in his favor, Mr. Kejriwal forgot about his own complaints of possible EVM tampering, and happily ascended his throne, like the mythological Nahusha who was heralded to become the King of Heaven 'Indra', when the incumbent Indra was cursed by Sage Durvasa. Then the arrogance of power seems to have got injected into his brain by his sycophant followers, and he alienated himself from his AAP Founding colleagues Yogendra Yadav and Prashanti Bhushan.
Actually, before anointing himself as the Chief Minister of Delhi in 2015, Mr. Kejriwal should have raised his suspicions about the most unnaturally favourable Election Result, and he ought to have voiced reiterating his doubts about the tampering of EVMs, and called for going back to paper ballots. It was a simple question of common sense. In 2014 May General Elections for Parliament, voters of Delhi gave all the seats to BJP and rejected AAP. In Feb. 2015 they lifted AAP from ashes. It should have woken up the conscience of Mr. Kejriwal, and made him to ask
"Why this sudden change of mind?"
"I have not done anything great in these seven months to deserve these Floral Showers?"
"Who tampered the EVMs through some Remote Devices?"
"Did my own techno-savvy supporters without my knowledge tamper the machines to uplift me to the Delhi throne?"
"Or did the techno-savvy supporters of BJP tamper the EVMs, to create a false belief in the minds of everybody that BJP's losing elections is a proof of in-tamper-ability of the EVMs?"
"Or did the leaders of the BJP arranged, AS A ONE TIME STRATEGY--for the tampering of EVMs to facilitate victory of AAP in 2015, to convince people that EVMs are not tamperable, so that in subsequent elections EVMs can be freely tampered whimsically, as people WILL HEREAFTER STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT EVMS are TAMPER-PROOF?"
Why does Mr. Arvind Kejriwal want to shut the mouth of Kumar Biswar from airing out his grievances? After all, people should have a sort of vent or a gasket release lever or a safety volve to flush out their inbuilt steams of frustrations and disappointments.
“I have said this multiple times to Arvind (Kejriwal) and Manish (Sisodia) and say it once again that in my life I don’t want to be the chief minister, deputy chief minister, party chief or join any other political party. I did not come here for this,” Vishwas said, while addressing press reporters in Delhi.
“I will take a decision in a day and will continue to speak up. Khan is only a mask speaking for someone else.”
ybdonkey's views:Mr. Kumar Biswas seems to have made up his mind long back to leave AAP, and (probably) join BJP. He seems to be searching for pretexts to leave. There is very little that can be done at this too late a stage. A stitch in time should have saved nine later. It is high time that Mr. Arvind Kejriwal think of retrieving his Party's INNER DEMOCRACY. Else, AAP itself may become defunct.
It will be better if Mr. Kejriwal resigns as the Chief Minister of Delhi, and allow his party to elect a new Chief Minister through democratic secret ballot methods, whoever the AAP Delhi Assembly Legislature Party may choose to elect. He should concentrate on the promotion of the Party at All India Level. Probably, he can think of re-friend-ing with Messrs. Yogendra Yadav and Prashanti Bhushan.
