Mr. Paranjoy Guha Thakurta, an Educator and a Commentator, has written in DeccanChronicle.Com, dated 9th March. 2016, an article titled "Cow Waving the Tricolor". This "Cow" is a reference to the BJP Party. The last paragraph of this Article, is worth noting, which I am quoting below, and discussing it. For those who are interested to read this article, here is the link: Click to go to DeccanChronicle.Com.
We shall, now, take up the last paragraph of Mr. Paranjoy Guha Thakurta:
"...I never thought I would end up quoting him such a lot, and that too approvingly, but Mr Shourie could now re-phrase his comment about the difference between the BJP and the Congress — “the BJP is the Congress with a cow” — with the concluding line of a recent editorial published in the Economist which is no lover of Left-liberal cause, that the BJP is the Congress with a cow waving the tricolour. ..."
Here, the author was referring to Mr. Arun Shourie, A Senior Journalist, Former Union Minister, A Senior BJP Leader, all in one. The quotation about the cow is: "The BJP is the Congress with a cow waving the tricolor".

At least as far as the Economic Polices are concerned, both Congress and the BJP have identical policies. We can take it for granted that Mr. Arun Jaitley is the 2016's Manmohan Singh of India. There is such a great continuity that we cannot distinguish the latter from the former. If Mr. Manmohan Singh or Mr. Chidambaram were to present the 2016 budget of India, they too would have presented a similar budget.
Congress too wanted to dispose off Air India. BJP too wants to dispose off Air India. Unfortunately, nobody seems to be coming forward. Why? Not because Air India is a dry cow. But, because, GOI gives licences liberally for starting New Airlines. Air India does not enjoy any special concessions or preferential treatment from the Government of India, though the State AirLine has to shoulder several Social Responsibilities, which Private Airlines will not be compelled to bear! Examples: Running Services to Centres, which are not Economically viable. Providing Special Treatment to MPs and Ministers. Providing contracts, and employment opportunities to those whom the Powers-that-be want to enrich or nurture. Air India is still a miltch cow for the Powers-that-be, of course, it yields less milk than it used to, during its past prime lactation years.
ybrao-a-donkey's humble comments. वैबीराव एक गधे के विनम्र राय . వైబీరావ్ గాడిద వినమ్ర వాణి. You have every right to differ with me. I respect your right. However, pl. examine this donkey's views also.
Our Saffron 2016 Ministers are supposed to be more dynamic, efficient, honest, Administrators and Managers, when compared to their Congress ilk, even when compared to their 1999-2004 NDA counterparts. Apart from that, they have the directions, guidance, leadership, motivation, and support of our beloved Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.
But, then, why then, they are unable to manage and revive the few PSUs left out by the (dirty? May or may not be) inefficient Congress Dynastic Rulers?
HMT Bearings, HMT Watches, HMT Chinar Watches, Tungabhadra Steel Products and Hindustan Cables-- these are all small Fries. They do NOT NEED huge investments to resuscitate, like the Air India. They have great employment potential. At a time, when Indians were compelled to buy sub-standard Swiss watches at High prices, HMT emerged like a Divine Cow (kAmadhEnu कामधेन కామ ధేనువు) with quality watches, at affordable prices. They were sources of great pride to India's "Make in India" (that slogan was not there at that time). Unfortunately, whatever be the reasons, they have fallen on bad days. It does not mean that they should be sold out mercilessly, and the employees shunted out offering VRS.
Suppose if somebody's Mother / father / brother / sister / wife / son / daughter becomes sick, will the Head of the Family give them VRS, and drive them out?
There are thousands of Private Sector Units in India which have become sick owing to mismanagement by industrial tycoons. Some of them, though sick, are window-dressing their Profit & Loss Accounts and Balance Sheets (Remember Satyam Scam, which its promoters confessed to stringer punishments in United States). Consequently, many Private banks in INdia, though they may not acknowledge openly, have become sick. We are in a big mess. That, the previous Government and the RBI of those days, knew. The present Government and the RBI also know.
I have no animosity or grudge or ill-will, against BJP or NDA Ministers. I only wish that they prove (at least try to prove by their efforts) that they are really superior to their Congress counterparts. Telugu: కాంగ్రెస్ మంత్రుల కన్నా తాము భిన్నమైన వాళ్ళమని బిజెపీ మంత్రులు ఋజువు చేసుకోవాలి. I only wish that they do not, in a hurry, throw away the Public Properties built with Public Funds, into Private hands. For the time being, BJP can concentrate on Mr. Vijay Mallya. They should also address to the grievance of the ONGC, that Reliance stole their Gas.

SOME PERSONAL, BUT RELATED STUFF
The first watch purchased by me with my salary (not my first salary) was a HMT Sona watch, costing around Rs. 200/-, approx. in 1971. It was, about 15 days salary of those days. This Sona had a gold-plated or gold-colored dial. It was, as far as, I could remember, a gold-colored version of the HMT Chinar, which had a silver-colored dial. Both the watches were very beautiful, and in my personal view, comparable to international models of watches intended for common people.
This was, with me upto 1980-81. In 1980-81, I visited Madras (Chennai) as a tourist. After getting physically exhausted, I was deep asleep in a friend's house, that night, keeping the watch in a door-less wall-cupboard. Sometime at midnight, the watch was stolen by some Chennai thief, with the help of some bamboo stick or some hooked rod.
Since my childhood, I have been a lover of Telugu verses, because my first Guru in my grandfather's village was not conversant with Sanskrit or English. When the watch was lost, I tried to catch hold of some Telugu verse which would console me. I could not get hold of the most-suited Telugu verse.
One verse which occurred to my mind at that moment, was from Sumati Satakam.
Siri dA vaccina vaccunu
saraLambagu nArikELa salilamu bhangin
siri tA pOyina pOvunu
kari mingina velaga panDu karaNini sumatI.
English: If wealth is to come, it will accrue like water in a coconut fruit. If wealth is to go, it will vanish like the pulp in a stone-apple fruit. (It is believed that when an elephant devours a stone-apple fruit, the pulp is absorbed in the digestive tract of the elephant, without opening the stone cover of the fruit. The hollow stone-apple fruit is excreted, then. I am not sure about the veracity of this belief. Only readers can tell).
I felt that there was a need to learn some Sanskrit verses and maxims, which have some "consoling" tendencies. When I was working in some Telangana Villages, I spent some time, exploring Sanskrit verses. One such verse which is relevant, when we lose something, I quote below:
paSu patni sutA Alayaha
tadanubandham prasavam yAnti
English: Cattle, Wife, Off-springs, Houses, they are all related to us as "debts or loans", in the sense that we are indebted to them, or they are indebted to us. When those relationships cease (in other words we repay our debts to them, or they repay their debts to us), they will go. Then why should we worry EXCEEDINGLY?
The second watch purchased by me was also a public-sector watch, made by Allwyn in Hyderabad. This worked well for some years, later went out of order, in spite of visits to private watch repairers. (Allwyn was closed by the time my watch came for repairs).
