Ms. Vandana Siva and Mr. Deepak Pental seem to be at conflicting ends. What for they are fighting? ON whose behalf they are fighting? Who is right? Who is wrong? How the Government is going to handle this? Whose side will the Govt. take? Or does the Govt. has its own prompters? The subject matter is genetic modification of mustard seeds. The subject of oilseeds is very crucial both from the point of view of burgeoning imports of oilseeds, skyrocketing of prices of edible oils, need for import substitution, impact of imported edible oils on the health of Indians, impact of genetically modified oil seeds on the health of INdians.
Here is an important contradicting article by Dr. Deepak Pental, Retd. Vice Chancellor of Delhi University, and an expert on Genetically Modified Seeds, in Deccan Chronicle dated 26th Aug. 2015. Click to go to http://www.deccanchronicle.com/150826/commentary-op-ed/article/gmo-your-mustard-good.
Mr. Deepak Pental in his above linked article observes:
Personalities that aspire to be cult figures often resort to hyperbole and lies and Vandana Shiva has done exactly this in her piece, GMO in my mustard, which appeared in this newspaper on August 12, 2015. Before misinformations are pointed out and deliberate distortions are nailed, it is important to look at the issue both from scientific and developmental perspective.
One plagiarism case is apparently pending against Shri Deepak Pental
