923 The affinity between Baltic Cultures (Latvian + Lithuanian + East Prussian etc.) and Indian Cultures deserves to be greater examination

A learned friend of mine who strongly disbelieves in the theory of Aryan Migration into India theory, has sent me two links, to writing by Shri Dr. Nicholas Kazaras, which strongly tries to support the idea that INdo European Prototype Language was a myth. Links: Click here to go to the first part of the article by Dr. Nicholas Kazaras.. Part 2 of the same article: Click here to go to part 2.. My learned friend who sent the links through email, and Dr. Nicholas Kazaras may be presenting the other side of the coin. Comparing linguistic similarities between NOrse / NOrdic (North European) languages and Sanskrit is one method, of many methods for comparing the affinities between Nordic+Baltic cultures and Aryan Culture. Indo European Prototype language (or any other language form which has features similar to it) serves as one evidence, but it is not the sole evidence. We have to take into consideration several similarities which exist between Baltic Cultures (including language and religions) and Indian Cultures. The figure above shows the Baltic Symbols, which have close similarities to various symbols used in India.

Some of the facial marks worn by various people(s) in India seem to have their origin / or similarity to the Baltic symbols in the above picture.

I believe that the three prominent vertical facial marks of VishNu-worship (I cannot name the God or the people which follow the sub-sect, as it may hurt religious feelings) seem to have their origin in the Baltic symbols.

The vermillon / sandalwood round / conical facial marks called 'tilak' or 'tilaka' or 'tilakam' worn by both men and women seem to have close similarities to some of the Baltic Symbols. For example, see the marks in the above picture, for the Goddess Laima, Usins, Austras.

Another example: Laima is Godess of Fate and Fortune in Baltic Mythology. In India also, Lakshmi is the Goddess of Fortune. Now, see the symbols for Laima in the above picture. In marriages, brides wear a facial mark, what is known as 'kalyANa tilakam' (Vermillon mark of marriage and auspiciousness). Won't the third, fourth and fifth marks for Laima, resemble the Kalyana Tilakam.

The diamond like mark, third in the line for 'usins' resembles a tilak mark worn by Indian women. Usins is God(ddess) for Fertility in Lithuania and Latvia. About the sexuality of these Gods/goddesses, whether male or female, at this stage, we need not be sticky, because over a period of time the Gods who were male in Lithuania, seems to have taken female form in Latvia. Hence Usins can be male also, and probably he may be Lord VishNu. However, more evidence and research is necessary.

Now, see this web page: click here to go to forbiddensymbols.com/romuva. The histories of Lithuania and Latvia indicate that Christianity and Christian Missionaries tried to destroy the ancient culture of Lithuania and Latvia, calling the ancient cultures as pagans, just as Aryans in India after their arrival tried to overshadow the ancient pre-Aryan Indian Culture. Fortunately, pre-Aryan ancient Indian culture not only survived, but also substantially influenced the Aryan Culture, though the Aryans made extensive efforts to prevent such influences. The ancient Jainism of Tamil Nadu (not to be confused with the Svetambar Jainism and Digambar Jainism of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Bihar), seems to be the closest to the ancient Indian Native Culture. Even the Ancient Tamil Nadu Jainism has been substantially influenced by Aryan practices.

One important similarity between Baltic Religion and Aryan Vedic Religion

Aryan Vedic Religious Practitioners who migrated into India were not idol worshippers. Their main mode of worship was through 'yagna', which extensively and intensively uses the medium of fire, for sending oblations to Lord VishNu (called yagna nArAyana now-a-days). Ancient Baltic Religion also involves use of 'fires' for sending offerings to Gods, and singing of hymns in praise of God. See these extracts from the above Romuva religion of Baltics:

"...The terms Romuva, Romovė and Ruomuva came from medieval written sources in East Prussia mentioning the pagan Baltic temple Romowe.[13] The word has meanings of "temple" and "sanctuary", but, further, also "abode of inner peace".[14] The Baltic root ram-/rām-, has the meaning of 'calm, serene, quiet', stemming from the Proto-Indo-European *(e)remǝ-.[15][citation needed] ..."

"...Beginning in 1199, the Roman Catholic Church declared crusades against Baltic pagans.[17] Grand Duke Mindaugas was Christianized with his family and warriors in 1251 so that the Crusades may be ended by the Church.[21] But Mindaugas still worshiped pagan deities as the Hypatian chronicle mentions. He sacrificed to the pagan Supreme god (*Andajus, later Dievas), Perkūnas, *Teliavelis (god of smiths), and *Žvorūna (goddess of forests and hunters). Despite any insincerity and realpolitik in his Christian faith, some subsidiary states of Mindaugas' Grand Duchy rebelled in protest. In 1261 Mindaugas renounced his Christian faith as his official conversion failed to placate the Crusaders. ..."

"... Rituals, Aukuras

"... The Baltic aukuras or "fire altar" is a stone altar in which a fire is ritually lit. Participants wash their hands and face before approaching the aukuras, and then they sing dainas or ritual hymns as the fire is lit. Food, drink, grasses and flowers are offered to the flame as the group sings the dainas. After the primary offering, participants offer their own verbal or silent contributions which are carried to the Gods with the smoke and sparks of the flame. ...

"... Romuvan and Hindu groups have come together on numerous occasions to share prayers and participate in dialogue. These events have taken place in Lithuania,Atlantic City, New Jersey,Boston, Massachusetts,Epping, New Hampshire, and elsewhere. Close relations are maintained with various Hindu groups. ...

Saiva Religion (Shiva worship, Phallus worship): These migrants seem to be from Italy, Greece and South Europe. They seem to have come through Iranian Route, while those from North Europe have come through Caspian Sea, Balkan countries, Ukraine, Kazakisthan, Afghanisthan route. For this reason only, Lord Shiva was not given share in Sacrificial offerings of Aryan Yagnas, which seems to have led to the story of "daksha sacrifice." Later Shiva worshippers too started performing sacrifices, with offerings to Lord Shiva. Ravana was one such yagna performer. North European Aryans seem to have specialised in horse-sacrifices (aSva mEtha), while the South European Phallus worshippers appear not to perform. For example, Rama performed 100 horse sacrifices. There are no indications of Ravana or other Shiva worshippers performing horse sacrifices.

In the above picture of Baltic Symbols, we do not find horizontal stripes, which resemble the facial marks of Shiva Worshippers, because they were apparently from Greece, Italy, Macidonia and Crate.

Aryan Culture is only a part of Indian Culture. Similar is the case for the Shaiva worship (Phallus worship). They alone do not make or represent Indian culture. India's Ancient Culture which was overshadowed by the Aryan Yagna culture and Shaiva phallus culture, needs to be deeply studied and investigated. However, they need not be replaced or reformed. It will lead to greater confusion and chaos. No hasty conclusions can be drawn. Lot of patience, unbiased work is necessary. But one important thing which cannot be forgotten is both the Aryan fire-homa methods, and the Phallus Worshipping methods are leading to lot of accumulation of gold by prayer-houses, and excess idol worship is leading to BLIND IDOL WORSHIP. The more important component of acquiring 'gnAna' true knowledge and capability of distinguishing between what is 'sat' (eternal) and what is 'asat' (ephemeral) is being neglected. Ancient Jains (Indians) of Tamil Nadu were mainly truth-seekers. They were neither idol worshippers, nor fire-homa performers.

All the above discussion also shows that the pre-Christian, pre-Islamic Religion of Europe which was cursed as 'pagan' and destroyed, bore a close resemblance to Hinduism / Aryan-ism. It was the Ancient Religion of Europe. It migrated to India, and tried to dominate the Ancient Indian Culture, while trying to isolate itself with superior rights, by imposing FOUR CASTES SYSTEM [Brahmins (white), Kshatriyas (red), Vysyas (yellow), SUdras (brown)], and outcasts (dalits), probably black].

Results of the five State Elections in India are likely to emerge out shortly. Exit poles, psephologists' observations seem to support BJP's successes in UP. From the yb-a-donkey's point of view, it will be immaterial whether which bourgeoisie party wins and forms Governments. All of them have same economic policies, practices, habits of corruption. Sufferings of people will remain same. It only highlights that INTELLECTUAL UPGRADATION OF PEOPLE IS A PRE-REQUISITE, FOR ESTAQBLISHMENT OF A TRULY SOCIALIST SOCIETY.
