TODAY'S highlights: :
■Mrs. NIRMALA SITARAMAN, INDIA'S FINANCE MINISTER, with regard to Mr. Rahul Bajaj's Criticism, about an atmosphere of fear and "a lack of confidence" in confronting the government with critical questions, may have to keep in mind World's Investment Environment ♞:1. Here is a link to a Video Report of Indiatimes.com Click here to go to https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/company/corporate-trends/rahul-bajaj-questions-amit-shah-responds-at-the-et-awards-2019/videoshow/72315646.cms which contains a Criticism made by Mr. Rahul Bajaj, Renowned Industrialist, and the Reply given by Mr. Amit Shah, Home Minister of India. Venue: Economic Times ET Awards Function, date:30.11.2019.
2. Mr. Rahul Bajaj is reported to have said: 'You are doing good work, but despite that we don’t have the confidence that you will appreciate if we criticise you openly'. He is also reported to have said: 'The atmosphere that is prevalent, it’s in our minds but no one here will say. None of our industrialist friends will talk. I’ll say that openly'. ... 'During UPA 2, we could abuse anyone. You are doing good work, but if we want to openly criticise you, there is no confidence you will appreciate that. I may be wrong but everyone feels that.'
3. Mr. Amit Shah, Home Minister, is reported to have replied: 'If you say there is a certain kind of atmosphere, we will have to make efforts to improve it. But I would like to point out that there is no need for anybody to be afraid. Everyone says everything in their affidavit as well as Parliament. No one wants to scare, and we have done nothing to be concerned about any criticism'.
4. Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman is reported to have said: '...The Home Minister Amit Shah answers on how issues raised by Bajaj were addressed. Questions/criticisms are heard and answered/addressed. Always a better way to seek an answer than spreading one’s own impressions, which, on gaining traction, can hurt national interest. '
5. ybrao-a-donkey's personal view: I hope Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman will have time and patience to reply to questions of ordinary citizens who may not be Top Industrialists. I also wish that Ms. Sitharaman, when she finds time, will elucidate more on what constitutes 'National Interest'. If 'hurt national interest' means 'creates doubts in the minds of Foreign Institutional Investors', then probably it can be said that Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) have their own sources and methods to decide on whether the Investment Climate in any particular country is favorable or not. They may be employing paid Research Institutions to report on Investment Climates prevailing in different countries. It will also be better for Mr. Rahul Bajaj, who is 81, to be more cautious in out-speaking his views. Outspokenness is not appreciated at most Meetings. Even if Mr. Amit Shah and Ms. Sitharaman may be very liberal to forgive him for his openness, other Powers-that-be in the Government-hierarchy may not have such forgiving generosity. At a ripe age of 81, Mr. Rahul Bajaj might have already tasted great victories and great threats, but his heirs and successors have to continue doing their businesses. I hope, by making this observation, I am not hurting national interests.

TODAY'S untrivia: :
■TSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) Employees have to rebuild their Unity ♞:1. Mr. K. Chandrasekhara Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana State has showered gifts on the TSRTC Employees who withdrew their 52 days old strike, which he has earlier called 'illegal', and declared that the Striking Employees had done 'self-dismissal'.
2. Reasons for this volta-face are not known. Did any TRS MLA or TRS Minister counsel him to change his dangerous and inhuman path? Did any Swamiji such as Tridandi Srimannarayana Jiyyar or Swaroopanandendra counsel him? Or did any apparition of a "Father of Telangana" appear before him in Midnight, and counsel him not to alienate Working Class, in his own interest?
3. Amidst this flooding of gifts onto the TSRTC Employees, there is a condition. They have to get rid of their Trade Unions for two years and accept Worker Welfare Councils appointed by Government. Mr. KCR is reported to have said 'Rs. 100 crore will also be released immediately for (TS)RTC. If you follow these unions, then it will not help. You must be thinking then what to do without the unions if there are issues. We will set up worker welfare councils, so if you follow my orders, we can turn the TSRTC into a profit making entity. The unions have played with the lives of employees. I will distribute all the information about the RTC to every employee.'
4. ybrao-a-donkey's personal view: Having a Trade Union is a Natural Right of Employees and Workers, like Human Rights. They cannot be taken away except in very very exceptional situations. Now, there is no such exceptional situation.
5. Bathing the photoframes of Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao with 'milk' can be done when he fulfils all the promises.
Even Satya Harischandra can lie. Readers can see Mahabhagavata verse Part 9, Chapter 7, Verses 7 to 26 (i.e. 20 verses). After all, Mr. KCR is just a politician, whereas Harischandra was a Great King, tested for his Truthfulness by Vishwamitra, according to Markandeya Purana.

TODAY'S QUOTE FROM KARL MARX: :
■Karl Marx & ENGELS ♞:♛Society does not consist of individuals, but expresses the sum of interrelations, the relations within which these individuals stand.♝
TODAY'S EPISODE FROM VYASA MAHABHARATA ENGL. TRANSL.: :
■VYASA MAHABHARATA TRANSLATED BY Ganguli, BOOK3, BOOK OF FOREST/m03 118.♞:♛The Mahabharata, Book 3: Vana Parva: Tirtha-yatra Parva♝
♛Janamejaya said, "O you of ascetic wealth! when the sons of Pandu and the Vrishnis reached the holy spot Prabhasa, what did they do and what conversation was held there by them, for all of them were of mighty souls, proficient in all the branches of science and both the Vrishnis and the sons of Pandu held one another in friendly estimation.♝
♛Vaisampayana said, "When the Vrishnis reached the holy spot Prabhasa, the sacred landing-place on the coast of the sea, they surrounded the sons of Pandu and waited upon them.♝
♛ Then Balarama, resembling in hue the milk of the cow and the Kunda flower and the moon and the silver and the lotus root and who wore a wreath made of wild flowers and who had the ploughshare for his arms, spake to the lotuseyed one, saying, 'O Krishna, I do not see that the practice of virtue leads to any good or that unrighteous practices can cause evil, since the magnanimous Yudhishthira is in this miserable state, with matted hair, a resident of the wood, and for his garment wearing the bark of trees.♝
♛ And Duryodhana is now ruling the earth, and the ground doth not yet swallow him up.♝
♛ From this, a person of limited sense would believe a vicious course of life is preferable to a virtuous one.♝
♛ When Duryodhana is in a flourishing state and Yudhishthira, robbed of his throne, is suffering thus, what should people do in such a matter?— This is the doubt that is now perplexing all men.♝
♛ Here is the lord of men sprung from the god of virtue, holding fast to a righteous path, strictly truthful and of a liberal heart.♝
♛ This son of Pritha would give up his kingdom and his pleasure but would not swerve from the righteous path, in order to thrive.♝
♛ How is it that Bhishma and Kripa and the Brahmana Drona and the aged king, the senior member of the house, are living happily, after having banished the sons of Pritha? Fie upon the vicious-minded leaders of Bharata's race! What will that sinner, the chieftain of the earth, say to the departed forefathers of his race, when the wretch will meet them in the world to come? Having hurled from the throne his in-offensive sons, will he be able to declare that he had treated them in a blameless way? He doth not now see with his mind's eye how he hath become so sightless, and on account of what act he hath grown blind among the kings of this entire earth.♝
♛ Is it not because he hath banished Kunit's son from his kingdom? I have no doubt that Vichitravirya's son, when he with his sons perpetrated this inhuman act, beheld on the spot where dead bodies are burnt, flowering trees of a golden hue.♝
♛ Verily he must have asked them, when those stood before him with their shoulders projected forward towards him, and with their large red eyes staring at him, and he must have listened to their evil advice, since he fearlessly sent away Yudhishthira to the forest, who had all his weapons of war with him and was borne company by his younger brothers.♝
♛ This Bhima here, whose voracious appetite is like that of a wolf, is able to destroy with the sole strength of his powerful arms, and without the help of any weapons of war, a formidable array of hostile troops.♝
