I am not a lover of Venezuela or hater of UK and USA. It is also true that Venezuela is not a paragon of virtue. As a partly socialist Nation it has its own short-comings. Had it been a Capitalist country, and a stooge of the Euro-America, would it have been a paragon of virtues? Definitely not, notwithstanding what the Western Media may try to depict it to be, or to look like. Food shortages are not the exclusive banes of Socialist Societies, nor food abundancies the exclusive preserves of Capitalist countries. Capitalist countries may make facades of attending to shortages, through imports. But even the Capitalist Governments do not bother to verify whether the imported goods reach the homes of Citizens in time. Often, imported goods are black-marketed, hoarded by big malls, to make profits out of shortages. Buraucrats and politicians can make huge kickbacks from the prices paid to overseas sellers. ON the other hand, continuous resorts to imports make domestic agriculture, and its allied occupations and industries sick, as imported goods may arrive exactly at the same moment when imported commodities are unloaded in ports.

The Chavez revolution in Venezuela is in trouble. Food shortages are hurting the poor, inflation is at 141% per cent, and the economy in meltdown. Chavez's successor, President Nicolas Maduro, lacks his charisma and the government is now being accused of underestimating the scale of the Zika outbreak. John Sweeney reports.

Stronger Hunger! How Fast Starving People in Venezuela Looting a Bakery [CAUGHT ON CAMERA]

How Fast Starving People in Venezuela Looting a Bakery.
The crisis shortage of commodities in Venezuela is becoming increasingly acute. This is reflected in a video captured by a security camera of a bakery in which we see how both adults and children ransack the said establishment.
In the images seen a large group of people, who in minutes left completely empty shelves and refrigerators. They took up the production inputs.
There is no doubt that the crisis in the prairie country, which has worsened since he took Nicolas Maduro control, out of control and this has generated a series of looting in various retail outlets.

.Famines and Hungers are serious problems equally faced by all-- Partly Socialist-but-dictatorial countries, Truly Socialist countries, and Capitalist countries. Famines and Hungers do not know about 'isms' and they do not discriminate on the basis of 'isms'.
I do not wish to argue that Western Media should not report what is happening in Venezuela. What becomes questionable is 'Selective Reporting', and 'Disproportionately Exaggerated and Repetitive Reporting".

Similar thing happened a few years back, when Greece experienced a debt Crises. Now, Western Media is blind to what happens in Greece, because the Rulers there are following the instructions from the Euro-Dictators.
Ques: You say that PARTIAL SOCIALISM CAN NEVER SUCCEED. Why?
Ans: Partial Socialism cannot succeed because the Capitalist entities and Greed thrive by devoring the Socialist Units. Govt. will provide the fodder and feed, nourishes the buffaloes and cattle, and the Capitalist Entities will miltch them. Capitalists will not only squeeze the milk upto the last drop from the udders, but also suck blood from the udders.
There is no use of Venezuela blaming the bakeries that they are diverting imported 'floor' from bread-making to high-value products like pastries and cakes. Inspectors and Police cannot change the attitude of businessmen owning the bakeries. If we feed a tiger or a lion with just one kilogram of meat, and ask it, not to eat the animals/humans in the forest will they stop? Either we have to remove all the lions and tigers from the forest, or at least confine them to their caged-dens/bounded-homes in such a way that they do not have access to animals/humans. Even when the tigers and lions are kept in cages, they need to be fed, fully.
Total True Socialism will have to dispense with money and businesses altogether. An Economy and Society, with a need to make quick bucks on large scale, so as to exercise power and authority on other Citizens will always fall pray to Greed of Money-Makers.
Even in Total True Socialism, there can be food shortages
In hypocratical socialist countries like Soviet Union and China, there were famines, food shortages and death of millions. In Russia, Lenin tried 'imports to replenish stocks' method, but could not fully succeed. One basic reason for Lenin's failure apparently was, his supporting Bolshevik Party Workers were not as much as interested and serious about the food scarcities, as Lenin himself was.
Or Lenin might have ignored the reports arriving from the grassroots, or coterie around Lenin might have filtered unpleasant reports.
In China too it happened, during its Cultural Revolution, when Mao Ze Dong was at the top. There were famines and food shortages. Millions died. Coterie around Mao did not apparently inform or guide properly. Mao Ze Dong too didn't apparently bother.
Then we can't blame Lenin or Mao, because they have two evils: Partial Socialism, and Authoritarian Rule. Partial Socialism suffers from loopholes. Authoritarian Rulers suffer from apathies and callousness.
One important shortcoming in all the three countries: China, Russia, and Venezuela
Agricultural Production was left to the Peasants. They received low prices for their output, while they were made to buy inputs at higher rates. They were made to bear the risks of vagaries of weather and climate, pests. What is expected from a Truly Totally Socialist country? The RISKS IN AGRICULTURE ought to have been totally borne by the State. State Agriculture, with peasants as employees, in spite of some shortcomings, might have been the correct solution.
