Life is too precious to lay down at the alter of special status for the State of Andhra Pradesh. Here is a news item from DC dated 22-9-15 which says that CPI workers have started a fast-unto-death demanding special category status to Andhra Pradesh. Special Status to Andhra Pradesh is too flimsy a demand to sacrifice lives. The benefits of Special Status are too ephemeral and volatile, and anyway they will benefit only industrialists and businesses, in the form of subsidies, incentives and tax concessions. For example, when A.P. State Govt. sometime back released Rs. 1200 crore (Rs. 12 billion) or $ 200 million approx. as some Capital Subsidies to industries such as Spinning Mills, who benefitted? Cabinet member of Shri Chandra Babu Naidu, - Shri Prattipati Pulla Rao was benefitted by Rs. 30 crore. Did any of these spinning mills or some other mills, pass on at least a small part of the concessions they received from the State and Central Governments to their workers who toil to enrich the mill owners? That the Spinning Mill and other Mill owners should tell !!

GUNTUR: CPI workers Kota Malyadri, Budala Srinivas, Ch. Ramakrishna and 15 other members on Monday started a fast-unto-death demanding special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

Party state secretary K. Ramakrishna demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce the SCS to the state immediately and warned of intensifying the protest if the demands were not met.

Mr Ramakrishna launched the protest organised by Guntur CPI unit in front of the district collectorate. He accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of touring Singapore instead of taking up the issue of special category status with the Centre.

Mr Ramakrishna warned that the party would organise state-wide protests from October 2.

The above news says that CPI workers have started a fast unto-death demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh. I view that the lives of CPI workers are too valuable to sacrifice at the alter of the bourgeoisie parties to fulfil their deceptive, elusive, fake promises which were made with no intention to fulfil. Special Status demand is too flimsy a ground to lay down lives. Of course, the 21st Century fasts unto-death may not have a really serious intent to continue it until death, if the demands are not fulfilled, and that there is always a foresight that Police will interrupt it in the middle , admit the fast-makers into hospitals, and inject saline. This has been proved numerous times. Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu knew it when he did it in New Delhi. KCR knew it. Jagan knows it. But, still, let us give a benefit of doubt to the CPI workers that they are serious and sincere in their fasting. They seem to have been misguided by somebody to convince them to undertake the misadventure. Funniest part is, Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu is worried about the life of Jagan, but not worried about the value of the lives of CPI Workers. Why? Only he should tell. Are CPI Workers flies and mosquitos to be brushed aside?

Encouraging Regionalism, Casteism, Communalism, etc. create practical problems for All India Parties. For example, all the 29 States of India may want Special Status for their respective States. Will the CPI Central Committee support and allow their 29 State level Committees to start agitations to pursue their goals? Suppose, if all the 29 State CPI Units want their workers to start fast-unto-death, there will be disintegration of India. Chasing with the hounds and fleeing-running with the hares will be foolish and not possible. CPI Secretary Mr. Narayana has already done sufficient injustice to the State of Residual Andhra Pradesh, and to the cause of Communism and Working Classes of both Telangana and Sesh Andhra areas, when he sided with TRS and sailed with KCR & Company demanding separate Telangana. Mr. Suravaram Sudhakara Reddy owes a duty to explain to the people of India to explain how their support to separate Telangana Movement benefited the Workers of Telangana, or Sesh Andhra, or the Working Classes of India.

కొడితే ఏనుగు కుంభ స్థలాన్నే కొట్టాలి. ఏ ఉదాత్త లక్ష్యాలూ లేని నరేంద్ర మోడీయే, ఏనుగు కుంభ స్థలాన్ని కొట్టినపుడు, ఎంతో చరిత్ర కలిగిన పార్టీలైన కమ్యూనిస్టులు ఆపనిని ఎందుకు చేయలేవు. అయితే శ్రీమోడీకి పారిశ్రామిక వేత్తల అండ ఉన్నది, మాకు ఎక్కడ ఉన్నది అని వామ పక్షాలు అనవచ్చు. దీనికి జవాబు ఏమిటంటే, వోటు వేసేది శ్రామిక వర్గాల వారా లేక పారిశ్రామిక వేత్తలా. మోడీని అందలం పైకి ఎక్కించటానికి పారిశ్రామికవేత్తలు ఎంత తాపత్రయపడినా ఆపని చేసింది శ్రామిక వర్గాల ప్రజలే. (భారతీయులలో 80% మంది శ్రామికులే. ఐటీ ఉద్యోగులు కూడా శ్రామికులే, అయితే వారికా అంతర్ జ్ఞానం లేదు.). కమ్యూనిస్టు పార్టీలు శ్రామిక వర్గాల ఆదరణ పొందటానికి కృషిచేయాలే తప్ప ప్రాంతీయ దురభిమానాలను రెచ్చకొట్టటం ప్రమాదకరం.

గతంలో రంగనాయకమ్మ గారు ఆంధ్ర జ్యోతిలో వ్రాశారు. కమ్యూనిస్టు పార్టీ పత్రికకు విశాలాంధ్ర అనే పేరు సరియైనది కాదు. అది ప్రాంతీయ దురభిమానాలను రేకెత్తించేదిగా ఉంది. ఈవిషయం కమ్యూనిస్టు నేతలు లోతుగా ఆలోచిస్తే అర్ధం అవుతుంది. ఎన్నో ఏళ్ళ బట్టి ఆపేరు ఉంది కాబట్టి కొనసాగాలనటం కూడ సరికాదు. విశాలాంధ్రకు శ్రమ శక్తి అని నామకరణం చేయటం ఉత్తమం అని నా గాడిద వాణి చెప్తున్నది.

575 Chandamama should not be belittled by religious preachers! प्रवचन कार चंदमामा पत्रिका के विवेक को छोटा करना अछ्छा नहीं लगेगा ప్రవచన కర్తలకు చందమామ వివేకాన్ని చులకన చేయటం తగని పని.

Preachers of all religions (in Telugu we can call them pravachana kartAs) think and talk arrogantly. It would have, perhaps, been "let go type" in private conversations. While speaking on TV channels, meetings attended by thousands of spectators, speakers whether of political or religious or some other genre, have to think twice before making generalisations and crackling boastful statements. Here is one such example. A Reverable Preceptor title holder (pUjya AcArya पूज्य आचार्य बिरुदांकित పూజ్య ఆచార్య బిరుదాంకితుడు) , we do not know who gave him that title, I had the misfortune of listening to on the SVBC channel when he was preaching Bhagavad Gita, that brahma vidya (The art / education of spirituality) is not as simple as reading Chandamama magazine. This preacher seems to be thinking that Chandamama was an ordinary magazine. Such fallacious observations are really untenable. The I do not know where the pUjya AchArya got his wisdom and brahma vidya. Wearing ochre robes (काषाय रंगीन कपडे కాషాయ వస్త్రాలు) and special vermillon-sandalwood marks on forehead (मुखालंकार ముఖాలంకారాలు అంటే బొట్లు, నామాలు) alone does not make a wiseman. Packing of a product and quality of the inner contents are two different things.

Chandamama magazine may contain some stories of fantasy intended to ignite interest in children. But that does not mean, it does not contain anything which provokes their thoughts, raise their levels of comparison and evaluation, discrimination, diligence. Children reading fantasies in Chandamama might have realised in later years that they read only imaginary-dreamlike fantasies, and they were not intended to be real.

Chandamama, and through it we all of us who grew up during the years between 1947 (its establishment) and 2008 (its cessation of publication), had received several years of dedicated service and valuable contributions from authors such as Late Kodavatikanti Kutumba Rao, Vasundhara, and drawing services of artists like Vaddadi Papaiah, Chitra, Sankar, perhaps Bapu, and others. Many stories presented by them contain episodes, scenes and incidents which enlarge and enlighten the discriminative abilities of not only adolescents, but also adults including those who have completed a thousand moons.

During the approx. 60 years of its publication, Chandamama had more than 720 monthly issues. Every issue contained BhetALa katha. (Story of Legendary King Vikramarka and the King of Spirits BhetALa). The questions posed by BhETALa to VikramArka were really incisive and some them were hardnuts to crack like Rubrik's Cubes (probably harder than the cubes).

Whenever I find time, I shall try to present some of the great vignettes from Chandamama and prove how foolish are our discourse-makers who think that they alone are superior virtuous and wise persons, because they wear ochre robes on their body and vermillon-sandalwood-ash-chalk marks on their forehead.

As a sample, I furnish below some verses from the feature called "amaravANi (Voice of Sanskrit)" from the Chandamama issue of January 1970. These verses glorify the greatness of education when compared to regal splendor and wealth.

విద్వత్త్వంచ నృపత్వంచ నైవ తుల్యం కదాచన,
స్వదేశే పూజ్యతే రాజా, విద్వాన్ సర్వత్రపూజ్యతే.

विद्वत त्वंच नृपत्वंच नैव तुल्यं कदाचन,
स्वदेशे पूज्यते राजा, विद्वान सर्वत्र पूज्यते.

vidvat tvam cha nrupatvam ca naiva tulyam kadAcana,
svadESE pUjyatE rAjA, vidvAn sarvatra pUjyatE.

Scholarity and royalty can never be compared. A king is respected in his own country. A scholar is honored and respected all over the world.

సుఖార్ధీ త్యజతే విద్యాం, విద్యార్ధీ త్యజతే సుఖం,
సుఖార్ధినః కుతో విద్యా, విద్యార్ధినః కుతో సుఖం.

सूखार्धी त्यजते विद्यां, विद्यार्धी त्यजते सुखं,
सुखार्धिनः कुतो विद्या, विद्यार्धिनः कुतो सुखं।

sukhArdhI tyajatE vidyAm, vidyArdhI tyajatE sukham,
sukhArdhinaha kutO vidyA, vidyArdhinaha kutO sukham.

A person prefers comforts and luxuries will forego learning. A person who longs for education, will forego not only comforts and luxuries, but also even necessities. Where will a comfort-seeker get knowledge and wisdom? Where will a knowledge-seeker get comforts?

పుస్తకేషుచ యా విద్యా పర హస్తేచే యత్ ధ్ధనం
సమయేతు పరిప్రాప్తే నసా విద్యా, న తత్ ధనం.

पुस्तकेषुच या विद्या पर हस्ते चे यत् धनं
समयेतु परिप्राप्ते न सा विद्या, न तत् धनं.

pustakEshuchu yA vidyA para hastE cEt yat dhanam
samayEt pariprAptE na sA vidyA, na tat dhanam.

Education and learning in books, our money in the hands of others, will not be available to us when they are actually needed bys us. Hence, that education is not education. That money is not real money.

జ్ఞాతిభిర్ వంచ్యతే నైవ, చోరేణాపి ననీయతే,
దానేన నక్షయం యాతిః విద్యా రత్నం మహాధనం.

ज्ञाति भिर वंच्यते नैव, चोरेणापि न नीयते,
दानेन न क्षयं यातिः, विद्या रत्नं महा धनं।

gnAti bhir vanchyatE naiva, cOrENApi na nIyatE
dAnEna na kshayam yAtih, vidyA ratnam mahA dhanam.

Education is like great treasure. Cognates and Collates (Consanguineous relatives who may claim share in our inheritance) cannot deceive us and snatch it away from us. Nor can thieves can steal. When bestowed on others, the treasure of education does not diminish (instead it renews itself in memory). The gem of education is our greatest treasure.

(Recall, Mr. Narendra Modi's visit to France, on which occasion he placed some order for purchase of French aircraft.). He seems to used exactly the same strategies and techniques to make Messrs. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, and Mr. Mohan Bhagwat to believe that he was indispensible. At least the first three of them might have learnt their lessons.

Government of India has got designed a linux based operating System called 'Boss' for Bharat. It seems to have wanted to introduce and implement into the websites of Central Government Departments. But nobody knows where its present status is. Everybody knows that Windows is an extremely vulnerable OS from security angle, besides its being grossly commercial, and is not suitable for a very poor country like INdia.

I have been experimenting with Linux based operating systems. At a stage I felt satisfied with Ubuntu 10.04 and Ubuntu 10.10 versions, which were mostly functional and less bulky.

Of late, Ubuntu uses a Unity desktop and its 15.04 (2015 April) version is current, till 15.10 comes out. In a monstrous Capitalist system, it is very difficult for a free-cost open-source OS to survive with contributions and donations from volunteers. Yet, hundreds of linuxbased distributions have made a dent into the market of Microsoft. Unable to bear burden(s), even Ubuntu seems to become more and more commercial.

Unfortunate thing is, Indians are still enslaved to Windows.

రూట్ అనేది రూట్ అనే యూజర్ తో చేస్తున్నాము అని సంకేతం. రూట్ గార్ లైనక్స్ లో ముఖ్యంగా ఉబుంటూలో ఫైల్ సిస్టం కు యజమాని, సర్వాధికారి. ఈయన గారికే సూడో అని కూడ సంకేతం.

-p అనే ఆప్షన్ పాస్ వర్డ్ తో చేస్తున్నాము అని సూచన. తరువాత స్పేస్ వదలకుండా రూట్ గారి పాస్ వర్డ్ ను కొట్టాలి.

ఖర్చులు అనేది మనం బ్యాక్ అప్ చేయాల్సిన ఎమ్ సీక్వెల్ డేటాబేస్ పేరు.

ఆబ్లిక్ లలో ఉన్నదంతా డంప్ చేయాల్సిన ప్రదేశానికి దారి. అంటే పెన్ డ్రైవ్ కి మార్గం. లైనక్సు ఉబుంటూలో పెన్ డ్రైవ్ లు సాధారణంగా /మీడియా / పె న్ డ్రైవ్ పేరు / తో ఫోల్డర్ లో ఉంటాయి. వీటి తరువాతవి సబ్ ఫోల్డర్ లు మనం సృష్టించుకునేవి.

mysqldatabasedump.sql అనే ఫైలు లోకి మనం డంపింగు చేస్తున్నాము.

ఇపుడు పెన్ డ్రైవ్ లోకి వెళ్ళి ఆ ఫైల్ ఉందో లేదో చూసుకోవాలి.

రెండవ మెట్టు

వెనక్కి డంపు చేసుకోటానికి ముందు మనం మన లాప్ టాప్ లేక పీసీ మై సీక్వెల్ లో ఒక ఖాళీ డేటా బేస్ ను కొత్త పేరుతో సృష్టించుకోవాలి. దీనికి మనం మై సీక్వెల్ లోకి కమాండ్ లైన్ వద్ద యూజర్ నేమ్ , పాస్ వర్డ్ ఇచ్చి ప్రవేశించాలి.

కమాండ్ లైన్ : mysql -u మనusername -pస్థలంవదలకుండా మనuserpassword.

(ఇపుడు) మై సీక్వెల్ కమాండ్ లైన్ : create database newkharachulu (ఏదో ఒక కొత్త డేటాబేస్ పేరు) character set = utf8 collate = utf8_general_ci;

అని టైప్ చేసి ఎంటర్ నొక్కాలి. న్యా డేటా బేస్ క్రియేట్ అవుతుంది.

చెక్ చేసుకోటానికి షో డేటాబేసెస్ ; అనే కమాండ్ ను వాడితే మనకి కొత్త డేటా బేస్, పాత డేటా బేస్ తో సహా అన్ని డేటా బేస్ లు కనిపిస్తాయి.

మూడవ మెట్టు

కమాండ్ లైన్:~$ mysqldump -u root -pరూట్ పాస్ వర్డ్ newkharchulu (మనం పైన పెట్టిన కొత్త ఖాళీ డేటా బేస్ పేరు) < /media/pendrivename/subfolders.../mysqldatabasedump.sql

లెస్ దాన్ గుర్తు బాణం లాంటిది. పెన్ డ్రైవ్ నుండి మనం తెచ్చుకోవాలని సూచిస్తున్నది.

ఇపుడు డంపింగ్ అయినట్లుగా మనకి వివరాలు కమాండ్ లైన్ పై వస్తాయి.

ఈ మైట్టైనాక మన ఎమ్ సీక్వెల్ లోకి కేవలం ఖాళీ డేటా బేస్ సెట్ మాత్రమే వెళ్తుంది.

కమాండ్ లైన్:~$ mysql -u root -pరూట్ పాస్వర్డ్ newkharchulu < /media/pendrivename/subfolders.../mysqldatabasedump.sql

ఇపుడు మీరు మై సీక్వెల్ లోకి ప్రవేశించి చూస్తే రెండు డేటా బేస్ లూ ఉంటాయి. టేబుల్స్ తో , డేటాతో సహా దిగుమతి అయి ఉంటాయి. ఒక సారి టేబుల్సు, టేబుల్స్ లోని రో లు (వరసలు లేక రికార్డులు), కాలమ్స్ (ఫీల్డులు) సరిగా ఉన్నాయో లేవో చూసుకోండి. ఇపుడు మనం రెండు డేటా బేస్ లను వాడుకోవచ్చు. లేక పాత దానిని తీసి వేయ వచ్చు.

ఉన్న డేటాబేస్ పేరు మార్చాల్సి వస్తే కూడ ఈ పధ్ధతిని వాడుకోవచ్చు.

ల్యాప్ టాప్ లేక పీసీ మై సీక్వెల్ లో ( అంటే వేర్ / లిబ్ / మై సీక్వెల్ ఫోల్డర్ లో) ఉన్న డేటా బేస్ , దాని టేబుల్స్ లో ఉన్న డేటా తరచూ మారుతూ ఉంటుంది కనుక, బ్యాక్ అప్ చేసినపుడు పాత రికార్డులు వస్తాయి కాబట్టి బ్యాక్ అప్ కి ఈ పధ్ధతి అంత అనుకూలమైంది కాదు. ప్రతి రోజూ బ్యాక్ అప్ చేసుకుంటే (ప్రతి రోజూ రీ స్టోర్ చేసుకున్నా చేసుకోకపోయినా) కొంతవరకు ప్రయోజన కరంగా ఉండచ్చు. పెద్ద వ్యాపారులు, కంపెనీలు నెట్ లో ఆన్ లైన్ మిర్రరింగ్ ద్వారా బ్యాక్ అప్ చేసుకుంటాయని విన్నాను.

లక్షల రికార్డులు ఉన్న పెద్ద డేటాబేస్ లకి మెమోరీ స్థలం సమస్య రావచ్చు కాబట్టి, చిన్న డేటాబేస్ లకి ఇది సౌకర్యం.

To be re-edited. I am writing this to share my practical work. The above commands have been successfully tried to change database name and also to back up to a usb pen drive and dump-back to laptop , on Ubuntu 10.04 lucid linux os, and mysql 5.1. versions.
