433 What a great punishment for the Prime Minister's wife?

An informative and incisive blog post about Ms. Jashoda Ben w/o Shri Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, can be seen at the following link:--

http://blogs.reuters.com/great-debate/2015/01/28/a-first-lady-who-is-treated-as-second-class/

Its title is "A first lady who is treated as second class".   It is published in Reuters.Com.

One of the sentences in this blog, which is attributed to Ms. Jashoda Ben, the dharma patni of Shri Narendra Modi is very poignant.  It is quoted below:--

"...I am surrounded by five security guards all the time. Often my relatives or I have to cook for them, my sister-in-law has to make their beds. This is a bit annoying,” Jashodaben told Reuters. ..."

Readers may be already aware that the RTI application submitted by Ms. Jashoda Ben was already rejected by the District Police Administration.  It has also come out that she has appealed against their decision.    What happened for the appeal?

Have you seen this news item in Economic Times?

V.M. Vanol, Asst. Director of Door Darsan, Ahmedabad, has been reportedly transferred from Ahmedabad to Andamans, apparently for the fault of broadcasting a news item about the RTI application submitted by Ms. Jashoda Ben.   V.M. Vanol is aged 58, and is about to retire in a year.  What a punishment to him!

What a sad plight, for the dharma patni of a Prime Minister!  To cook food for the security guards!

I believe that nobody is reading what I am writing.  If somebody reads, probably I too shall be sent to  Andamans.

432 Are S&P and Moody's greater than a Sovereign Nation like India?

India's Credit Rating Standard & Poors credit rating for India: BBB-.

 Moody's rating for India sovereign debt is Baa3.

 Fitch's credit rating for India is BBB-.

Position as on 26.2.2015. ౨.

Credit ratings are said to be used by sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and other investors to gauge the credit worthiness of countries. Ratings are said to have a big impact on a country's borrowing costs.

Using this peculiar global situation as a leverage, Credit Rating firms seem to threaten developing and poor countries and claim their pound of flesh.

If India is like an elephant, we can compare the credit rating firms to flies which enter into the ears of an elephant, and trouble the elephants from a vantage point.

1991 was a crucial year in Indian Economic History.  It was the year in which we had a payment resources constraint, and we had to send a part of our gold abroad for overcoming a payment crisis, when Mr. Chandra Sekhar was our Prime Minister.

Subsequently, Mr. P.V. Narasimha Rao became our P.M., and Mr. Manmohan Singh became our Finance Minister.  They have, instead of promoting exports, and controlling imports drastically, went for mobilising foreign investments.  While this has eased our balance of payments position, without correcting the balance of trade deficit, it has led us into a trap of foreign investments.  The peculiarity of this trap is, whenever foreign investors for extraneous reasons withdraw their funds, we get worried, and we feel compelled to invite fresh foreign investments.  It is like riding a tiger.  If we get down from the tiger, the tiger will devour us.  We have to continue riding the tiger.

Our dependence on foreign debt and foreign investments have made us vulnerable and shaky.  This has created a favourite atmosphere for the Credit Rating Agencies to threaten us that they will downgrade us and arm-twist our fiscal policies to suit their needs.  They forget that we are a sovereign country with an entitlement to an independent economic and fiscal policies.  They forget that Indian State-run banks (Public Sector  Banks) are backed by Government of India, and treat as though they are pawn shops, selling them betel leaves and cigarettes.

What is the solution for this economic slavery?

Whether we like it or not, we have to cut down our import bill drastically.   Now, we have a temporary relief and reprieve owing to a fall in crude oil prices.  This should not make us complacent.  We have unnecessarily expanded our automobile sector.  Everybody in this country has started using bykes and cars, irrespective of whether they really need them or not.  We have to develop our Public Transport System.  We should stop using individual vehicles.  Reduced use of private transport, and increase in use of public transport facilities will also ease the traffic problem, parking problem, pollution problem, accidents problem.

Shooting of Indian films abroad should be stopped altogether.    Indian tourists visiting places like Singapore, Bangkok, Dubai on pleasure trips, should be stopped totally.

(To contnue).

431 Examination rhetoric of Mr. Narendra Modi to Indian students

Mr. Narendra Modi, like other politicians, is a stage actor.   Whatever, he, therefore, utters is to be taken with a pinch of salt.  Like utterances of other politicians, they are intended to generate rhetoric and create impressions in the minds of listeners, viewers, and receivers.  They lack sincerity.

The latest is, his advice to the students not to consider examinations as the 'end' of life.

Of course, the speeches, dialogues, presentations of a Prime Minister are not written by himself.  They are made ready for the P.M. by a batch of speech writers, conceptualisers, designers, modulators, experts in the respective fields.  Naturally, they will contain all the elements required for gaining acceptability by critics, reviewers and scholars.

It is , therefore, natural that his address to the Nation over All India Radio has received alround adulation and praise.

Real question remains: How many examinations, did Mr. Narendra Modi face?

According to the declaration Mr. Narendra Modi made to the Election Commission, he has studied M.A. Political Science.   The scheme of examinations for B.A. and M.A. courses in our Universities is not of serious genre.  Every year, about five or six papers are written, of a very general nature.  Candidates to pass through, have to secure some 40% or 35% marks.  That means it will be suffice if they know only 40% of the answer for each question.  Five questions out of ten questions given are answered.  Many students select some five chapters in a text book, just one month before exams. and prepare for about 15 questions.  Out of these 15 questions, if 5 questions appear in the exam., and if they answer at least 40% of the correct answer for each question, it will be suffice.

Only fastidiously meticulous fools care to study the entire syllabus, more beyond syllabus, discuss the subjects threadbare with co-students if available, lecturers (if they allow discussion), identify issues and problems which are relevant to our country, economy and the society.  It is not the goal of our education.

He has not gone through the tunnel of Competitive examinations  to secure a Government job or a private job.  He did not do any private jobs or Govt. jobs.  What he did. according to the history available on the internet, was help his uncle in running a Canteen at an RTC Bus Statiion, run a tea-cart for a few months, how many months nobody knows.

Like his Ekalavya guru Swami Vivekananda, Mr. Narendra Modi might have had a condescending view towards 'doing jobs' under somebody.

Question: You are making a baseless allegation against Swami Vivekananda that he was averse to do jobs for his livelihood.

Answer:  You can refer the Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda.  You can see his conversation with Priyanath Sinha.  Here is a quote of Swami Vivekananda:

" ... In the case of a post of twenty or thirty rupees falling vacant, five hundred B.A.s and M.A.s will apply for it! And, dear me! how curiously worded these petitions are! "I have nothing to eat at home, sir, my wife and children are starving; I most humbly implore you, sir, to give me some means to provide for myself and my family, or we shall die of starvation! ... "

 ybrao a donkey's most reluctant comment:  Swami Vivekananda might have, after due consideration, felt that instead of applying for jobs, it would be more prudent to wear ochre robes with impressive head gear, and waist belt, and ask the English-only knowing western devotees for cigars!  Better to beg for cigars, rather than fit oneself in a small job and take care of mother, younger brother and sister with the paltry salary.   Providing some income for mother can be entrusted to the ruler of Khetri.

Shri Narendra Modi might have nursed a philosophy of the above model practised by his Guru Vivekananda, and might have avoided applying for a Government job or a private job.  Had he applied for some job, he might have had a need to face a Competitive examination, and then he might have known whether an exam. was really crucial or not.  During the days of Swami Vivekananda , such competitive examinations which decide whether a person gets a job or not , with a hair-line distinction of half-a-mark, might not have existed, because number of educated persons was less in those days, and there was not much competition of the type which we have in 1960s, 70s,  80s, 90s, and the 21st c.

(This blog post may have to be revised, if somebody's feelings are going to be hurt.  I invite readers to comment in the space below, if their beliefs/sentiments are hurt in any manner with my above analysis.)

Shri Modi and Shri Vivekananda, didn't undergo the arduous task of running a family consisting either of parents, or wife-children, or both.  What he did was work with his RSS bosses or BJP bosses, arranging things, may be including some tea and serving them on-to the tables.

Blaming the current systems of examinations (both examinations which provide certificates and degrees, and competitive examinations for scarce-courses, Govt. jobs etc.) is of no use because they are based on BUREAUCRATIC AND CAPITALISTIC MINDSETS.

EXAMINATIONS PLAY VERY CRUCIAL ROLE in the lives of students of poor and middle classes, particularly those belonging to castes which do not have any reservations, those who cannot buy seats, those who cannot buy jobs, or those who are not born with silver spoon.   They are really life-and-survival and death questions.

Level of the family to which a person belong to - will decide the importance of examinations in his-her life.

430 Who is complicating the matters? Leaders or the Farmers?

Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, the Union Urban Development Minister, is reported to have said toa delegation of farmers, led by Krishna Delta Parirakshana Samithi leader Kolanukonda Sivaji and Rayapudi farmers' leader Mallela Seshagiri Rao, who came to submit a representation to him.

"...It is up to you. The capital will go to Nuzvidu area if you keep on complicating the issue...  "

This is nothing but blackmailing of the farmers who approached him for relief.  This is nothing but an indirect threat.  Who has really complicated the Capital issue?  It is the duo of Naidus i.e. Chandra Babu and Venkaiah.

In the first instance itself, they should have chosen a place, where Government land is available aplenty (I have suggested South Vijayapuri -South bank of Nagarjunasagar Dam for the purpose).  They should have started with small sheds for locating the State Capital.  They should have decentralised all State level directorates across the 13 District Headquarters and easily accessible towns on Highways, though they may not be District Headquarters.

429 Can Mr. Rajan use his magic wand to generate shame on persons having more than one kg of gold? One kg is not a minimum need!

Mr. Raghuram Rajan, Governor of Reserve Bank of India is reported to have said:

Venue:  delivering keynote address at DD Kosambi Festival of Ideas in Panaji , Goa.
Date:  22.2.2015 .

“... I would argue rather than a blanket inheritance tax, let’s change the culture. Make it such that people don’t want to leave a lot of wealth for their children   ...”

“...I think rather than bringing people down, our focus should be on taking people up. ..."

“...How do we give opportunity to many more people? Inheritance tax only helps the lawyers in the society,...”

“...A dramatic estate tax generates value for lawyers as they figure out ways to hide the estate so that it does not get taxed,...”

"...Western world has a better way of dealing with the issue, which is to “shame” the rich into devoting wealth for good causes...."

“...One thing the West does very well is to shame them into giving it away so that they feel that they are participating in it of their own will. ..."

"...It is a good way, as now they want to make money because they like to give it away later....”

"... System must “incentivise” the people to create wealth, which in turn has a spillover effect in form of job creation,..."

"...Country needs to respect that for some people leaving some wealth for the kids would be a priority.   ..."

To support his line of thinking, Mr. Rajan gave the example of Mr. John D. Rockfeller.  Also that of Bill Gates.

YBRAO A DONKEY'S VOICE
RBI's Governor is not a small fry like ybrao a donkey.  While ybrao-a-donkey has a right to dream, a person in the driving seat of the Economy cannot indulge in excess dreaming.  He may probably take occasional naps.

To start with:  Even Gandhiji dreamt that Indian business persons and industrialists will play the role of TRUSTEES धर्मकर्ता ధర్మకర్తలు  for the properties they amass.  Probably, stalwarts like Late Jamnlal Bajaj or Ghan Shyamdas Birla might have lived upto the expectations of Mahatma Gandhi.

Now, such evaporative concepts seem to fly on the sky.

Marxism (ybrao donkey coined word-substitute: equalism) does not envisage that rich will ever go into extreme charities and philanthropies on their own volition, or from a sense of shame generated by the Government or the Society.

Mr. Rajan, in the above speech wants incentivi-sation of the rich, to induce them to part with their wealth.  Religions have tried this incentive inducement technique.  Religions may promise anything like 10 times yield i.e. for every 10 bucks of charity, the donor may get 100 bucks.  This trick worked for the benefit of prayerhouses.   But the flow will dry down once the 10 time yields starts flowing in THIS WORLD.  Profits in heaven failed to tempt the donors.  After all, they were all business persons of proven skills.

Earning money upto a certain quantity, can be deemed as a person's duty.  Beyond that, an in-satiable thirst  to make money becomes a disease for the concerned individuals, families, societies and countries.

Our psychiatrists, psychologists, socio-economic scientists have to dig out true reasons why people become insatiably greedy to make moolah, even at the cost of their character, health, remaining life time.  Making money beyond a limit, particularly through foul means, is a disease which needs an I.C.U. treatment.

Coercion is the only solution.  Either society has to force them, or the State will have to force them.  For this reason only, removal of private property is the first priority for Marxism.

But this coercion has led to dictatorships in countries like Soviet Union, China, East Europe, N. Korea, Cuba.  The dictatorships have tarnished the philosophy of Marxism and made EQUALISM unattainable.

A prerequisite for success of Marxism (or yb's Equalism) is people's alertness and awareness of the principles involved.  This equalism cannot be the filmy brand of samatavAdam.  People have to become active participants in the saga of a Nation's move towards Equalism.

Countries like Russia, West Europe, U.S.A., Canada, Australia, New Zealand may not need the principles of Equalism, because most of them are underpopulated, and there is enough land, to accommodate the current rich and the aspiring rich.

In India land is scarce.  We have 1200 million population.  Soon it may go upto 1600 million.  There will be excess labor supply.  Poverty will multiply.  Governments cannot hide it with publicity campaigns.  Some Government welfare schemes, alcoholic habits of people, religious beliefs have so far kept people in a state of inebriation and sloth, that they are unable to understand the reasons for the glaring gaps of inequalities of income and  wealth co-existing side by side.

But this sloth may not continue for long.  Time also will come for all to know that violent revolutions and upheavals can not only be counter-productive, but also plunge the economies and societies irretrievable troughs.  The only solution, therefore, lies in an ENLIGHTENED POPULATION which calmly studies what is happening, and responds correctly when they get an opportunity to use their ballot power in  elections.

TAIL PIECE

Mr. Arun Jaitley, India's Finance Minister , according to his own declaration to the Election Commissioner, during the 2014 elections, has about 1.6 kgs. of gold. Can Mr. Rajan, make Mr. Jaitley to spare some gold for philanthropy? It will be a great act of philanthropy on the part of Mr. Arun Jaitley, when compared to his act of surrendering cooking gas subsidy of 12 cylinders! Can Mr. Rajan use his magic wand to generate shame on those persons who have more than 1 kg. of gold, which is not a minimum need!!!
